Welcome from Leewood Ranch
Shannon and I would like to welcome everyone to the 10th Leewood Ranch bull and female sale. A big Thank you to all our customers over this past year and to all our past customers over the last decade. It’s crazy to think 15 years ago we would sell one or two bulls off the farm and raise a few for ourselves. Since our first online sale, we’ve sold 330 bulls and just over 1000 heifers. With most going to repeat buyers.
In 2025 the ranch made a big change with the sale of 200 pairs last May, and Shannon and buying out the ranch from my parent. We will slowly be rebuilding the herd back to around 400-450 cows. For the 2026 sale our bull numbers will be similar to previous years, but we will have a smaller group of heifers to sell.
We will again be selling a group of purebred heifers and a few commercial pens of 3 or 5 head. The bull pen this year is by far the most consistent we’ve ever had. A very good selection of bulls in every pen. The black bulls are sired by several of our walking sires such as Sun Star Knockout 48K, Mavv Hollar Back, BLI Ludacris, and DMJ Hannibal Lector. All powerful black blaze face sires backed by some top donor/show dams. For the red pen we will have a few more Leewood RS Loverboy 38K sons that were a hit last year. The first big calf crop off KHG Thick Rick will also be featured. Our high seller from 2024 Leewood RS Redman has a few sons in the sale. Our first bulls from IPU Tenneses Whiskey have done very well with low birth weights and big weaning weights. These sons should work very well in the heifer pen. We will only have 2 fullblood bulls this year but the quality very high.
We hope to see you MARCH 17 at the ranch!

Sara and Shea
Welcome to the 10th Annual Leewood Ranch Bull & Female Sale. Please join us for a presale lunch at the Ranch south of Mannville.
With a multi generational cattle operation like Leewood with many years of commercial cattle production you can count on the understanding that bulls must be raised in an environment that promotes longevity. This is a very honest set of Ranch raised bulls that are bred and fed for Ranch conditions.
My January travels revealed a pretty exciting set of bulls that Colt and Shannon are very proud to offer in the 2026 bull sale. The herdbulls have been on a roll here with many outstanding sons from Knock Out, Hollar Back and Thick Rick. The black blaze face bulls are very strong with some extra punch, bulls that will produce calves that push the scale down. It seemed like every time I asked Colt about a red bull that caught my eye he said”another Slick Rick” it’s a very strong set of Slick Rick sons. This set of bulls are hairy and stout and I believe you will find many herdbull options in the pen.
There is a solid group of replacement heifers on offer this year, registered and commercial. They were highly sought after in 2025 and I would expect these females to garner some serious attention.
If you are unable to attend please reach out to any of the Transcon team for assistance, we are happy to assist you.

DELIVERY
• For bulls returning to the Ranch we suggest that the bulls be insured. Each animal becomes the responsibility of the buyer as soon as sold.
• Heifers are to be picked up ASAP. We’ve had heifers go to customers in BC to Manitoba, so if buyers need a little time to set up trucking we understand.
• Deliveries will start around April 1, at our convenience.
• Bulls will be delivered free of charge to central points across the western provinces. We do our best to deliver your bull to your yard.
• Bulls traveling to the eastern provinces and for export will have trucking arranged at cost; unless other arrangements are made.
USA & MEXICO EXPORT
• We can meet the new owners at ports of entry along the Alberta or Saskatchewan boarders.
• If the new owner would like the bull delivered closer, the transportation will also be arranged at cost.
We at Leewood Ranch will arrange for all tests and paperwork required to export these bulls at cost to their new owners. It usually takes several weeks to get these tests completed and results back.
SIGHT UNSEEN PURCHASES
Please contact us with any question on the cattle. We have had bulls and heifers sell all over Canada and some into the US “Sight Unseen” with no problems. We plan on selling cattle for years to come, so we will make sure the cattle meet your approval.
LEEWOOD RANCH GUARANTEE
All bulls are guaranteed to be satisfactory breeders in accordance with the Simmental association guidelines. We stand behind our product. Should a problem occur please contact us and we will make it right. A replacement bull (of equal quality), a credit or reimbursement will be given. We will make sure you have a bull to breed your cows. Any physical injury or mismanagement of the bull(s), will void any reimbursement.
BULL-BREEDING SOUNDNESS
All bulls will be semen tested before the sale. Bulls are tested for sperm motility, morphology and are also subjected to a physical exam. They are checked for any scrotal, penis and other physical problems that would affect their ability to breed. Any bulls failing these tests will not be at the sale. Any semen deferred bulls have been tested and have been deemed by the vet to mostly likely pass a semen test at a later date. These bulls usually fail, due to age or weather problems.
POLLED TESTING
A select number of bulls will be Homo Polled tested. Homo polled = no horns on any Calves Hetero polled = 50% polled calves on horned cows
COLOUR TESTING
Some black bulls will be tested for colour expression. Homo black bulls will not sire any red calves. The fullbloods and a select few red bulls will be diluter tested. Bulls testing diluter free can be crossed with black cows and will not give you any grey calves.
SEMEN RESERVE
We reserve the right to draw semen for in herd use on any bull in the sale offering. Semen will be at our expense and buyer’s convenience.
EPD’s
Epd`s are basically a Mathematical estimation of a animals genetic value. They are not always right but they can help in choosing your breeding stock. Below is a list of the epd`s and what they stand for.
The Bulls were weaned mid September and started on hay. In October they were switched to a TMR ration consisting of barley silage, grass hay, rolled oats and mineral/protein supplement from Bullseye Feeds. The purebred and commercial heifers were weaned in early November and put on fall grazing until Dec 1st. They then started on a TMR ration.
HEALTH
All bulls will be vet checked, scrotal measured, weighed and semen tested. All sale cattle are on a full heath program. Our calves receive vitamin AD&E and Selenium at birth. Around one week of age calves receive the vaccine Bovilis Nasalgen. Before being turned out on grass calves are given Vira Shield 6 + Somnus and Covexin Plus. At weaning bulls are given Vista Once SQ, Vision 8 Somnus. Any questions on health protocols please contact Leewood Ranch.
