Welcome to the 20th Annual Proudly Western Simmental Bull Sale, held at Whitewood Auction Services on Saturday, March 21.
Reaching a 20-year milestone is no small accomplishment. Over the past two decades, many influential Simmental bulls have passed through this ring — bulls that have gone on to leave their mark in purebred programs across the country. However, the true backbone of this sale has always been the large group of loyal, repeat commercial cattlemen who continue to make this a must-attend event each spring. When you combine good cattle backed by great people, longevity and success naturally follow.
Scissors Creek leads off the catalogue once again as an original consignor and longtime supporter of this event. From the very beginning, they have consistently brought a powerful, uniform set of bulls — and this year is certainly no exception. The Scissors Creek “type” is well known: moderate, stout, big-ribbed, hairy bulls designed to add real-world value to any program. These are cattle built with longevity, efficiency, and profitability in mind. For the second consecutive year, they are also offering a select group of open heifers. These females were extremely well received last year, and this year’s offering continues that same standard of quality and consistency. Flying TL Simmentals present what may be their strongest set of two-year-old bulls to date. These big, rugged, hairy bulls are born on grass and developed specifically as two-year-olds — a program that is becoming increasingly rare in today’s industry. At a time when most operations focus exclusively on yearlings, Flying TL remains committed to offering true extra-age bulls that are physically and mentally prepared to cover more cows under demanding conditions. These bulls are ready to go to work, thrive in tough environments, and continue working long after turnout. If you value durability, maturity, and added service capacity, this is a tremendous opportunity. Triangle 33 Simmentals have quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality bulls that pack real performance. Their cattle are big-bodied, heavy payweight bulls that combine muscle, capacity, and structural integrity. More importantly, they offer the kind of balanced traits that have made the Simmental breed so valuable in crossbreeding programs across Canada — performance with a strong maternal foundation. It is this combination of pounds at weaning and replacement-quality daughters that keeps Simmental genetics in such high demand. As we celebrate the 20th edition of the Proudly Western Sale, one thing remains clear: the bulls are as good as they have ever been. The consistency, depth, and quality throughout this offering speak to the commitment of the consignors and the strength of the programs represented.
There has never been a more exciting time to be in the beef business. Strong markets and renewed optimism have created opportunity across the industry. Investing in quality herd bulls has always been one of the most profitable decisions a cattleman can make, and this offering represents true value. You can buy with confidence, knowing these programs stand behind their cattle. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 21, at Whitewood Auction Services and plan to join us for this milestone event. Whether you are a longtime supporter or attending for the first time, we look forward to visiting with you on sale day. If you are unable to attend or need assistance prior to sale day, please contact any member of the T Bar team, as we are always happy to assist you in any way we can.

Welcome to the 20th Annual Proudly Western Bull sale – we are proud to have sold bulls through this sale since it started! It’s crazy how fast the years have gone and how much things have changed. We got looking back at the first sale in 2007 and some of the bulls were bringing $2000 – now day-old calves are bringing close to that kind of money!
The bulls were crept fed starting early August and then hand fed the same feed (oats and a pellet) at weaning and then transitioned to a TMR early December. The TMR includes barley silage, hay, super oats and a loose supplement with a target gain of 3.5 pounds per day. The TMR is designed to promote longevity. They are on a full herd health program and will have their first shot of Fusogard before sale day.
We are excited about this year’s offering with almost all of the bulls being out of our own walking herd sires. These bulls are deep, thick, hairy and correct and will produce the right type of calves to add even more excitement to these unprecedented times we are seeing in the cattle industry.
Customer satisfaction is very important to us - if any problems arise, we will do our best to make things right. Over the last twenty years we have enjoyed meeting and doing business with each one of our past customers. It’s the great people in this industry that make the tough days worth it, and we have learnt a lot from these customers during visits with them. Give us a call so that we can discuss your bull needs and help you pick out a bull that will work for your program.
Thank you again to our past bidders and buyers for their support and trust in our program.

• Great baldie bull here that really puts it all together
• Big muscled, strong topped and deep bodied
• Strides out perfectly and is structurally correct
• Dam never seems to miss; this is her fifth son to sell through this sale and almost all of them have been sale toppers
• We have used two sons in our own program after purchasing an interest back; the one son (SCCC 77H) has daughters milking now that are impressive with two daughters being top females in our entire herd
• The second son (SCCC 47M) has calves that are just hitting the ground, and they are looking to be an impressive sire group already
• Awesome opportunity here to buy a great one!

We are once again offering a few replacement heifers in this sale that we feel would fit well into any herd. They are all big bodied and well structured. We picked out pairs that fit well together and will be selling them that way but with the option to pick one if you choose. We have confidence they will work as highly productive cows wherever they end up. The heifers are not currently registered but can be for an additional cost; talk to us if this is something you would want.

Welcome to the 20th Annual Proudly Western bull sale. To all that participated in last year’s sale, by either buying or bidding, we extend a big thank you. What a wonderful and optimistic time for the cattle industry with record prices and returns for all the hard work that cattlemen put in on a daily basis. It is finally the cowboy’s time.
Our registered cattle operation is different than the majority as we calve out our cows in April and May on grass. Our program is designed and planned to raise two-year-old virgin bulls with no yearlings ever sold off the farm.
One thing about our two-year-old bulls is that there are no surprises as to how they will grow out as they are already mature. Also, these extra age bulls offer the advantage of having the ability to service more cows without losing condition. Our bulls are fed and grown out at a slower pace, for added longevity.
They are backgrounded as a yearling, then summer grassed and developed during their second winter for the bull sale. Our bulls are on an oat-based diet with free choice hay. They are on a full herd health program and are also vaccinated for foot rot. At each stage these bulls are vigorously culled for temperament and foot issues. We have on offer a mix of calving ease and performance bulls, in the red, black, red baldy and black baldy color coats. Since we calve on grass, udder quality in our cow herd is very important to us. Our cows are selected for easy fleshing attributes, and they need to perform in real world ranch conditions. Our cows corn graze throughout the winter and then come home to calve.
We don’t talk about udder quality in the footnotes of the bulls as we have a very strict culling program on udders and feet. We value our customers and if a problem should arise with your bull purchase, please contact us and we will do our best to solve any problem that should arise. We welcome the opportunity to tour you through our bull pen however if you are unable to come, please feel free to contact the crew at T Bar C.

We will start this year’s offering of our 2-year-old bulls with this son from Keon. Keon is a bull we purchased from the great Circle G program in Lacombe, Alberta. He has done a fantastic job for us. If I had to describe this bull in one word it would be “massive”, from nose to tail. Top to bottom and side to side he is a tank. A bull that should sire heavy weight steer calves and produce some outstanding heifer calves as he has an impressive adjusted weaning weight of 871 lbs. A dark red blaze face with an impressive EPD profile that just checks a lot of boxes. He also has an outstanding pedigree with his dam being a Landmark daughter with Captain Scream in the background. Young Mr. Magnum is easily one of the best bulls we have raised to date. When we were at Circle G and we saw Keon’s dam, she was a very impressive, clean fronted, big volume cow and Keon’s progeny are built the same. Polled test pending.

Here is a super soggy, smoothly built bull with lots of depth and middle with an impressive hindquarter. A curve bender type of bull with a very nice 81 lb birth weight but an adjusted weaning weight of 795 lbs. Calving ease and good performance in a dark red blaze face package. As I stated in the previous foot note about the fantastic job Keon has done for us, you can see the quality of sons he has sired but I can tell you his daughters are just as impressive.

Don’t flip the page too quick on this guy. Every year there are always a couple of bulls that just don’t picture very well, and this is one of them. He is better in person than his picture shows. You will see the difference when you watch his video. Another dark red, blaze face Keon son with a solid EPD profile. Young Mr. Mayfield’s dam has produced other sale bulls that have sold to Gilles Samard of Rockglen and Brian Patron of Goodeve.

Young Mr. Maddox is one that I think would work in the heifer pen or put him on some second calvers. Just a very dark red, deep bodied, big, hipped rascal. Another curve bender type of bull with a 78 lb. birth weight which puts him in the top 4% for calving ease but still had an impressive 829 lb adjusted weaning weight.
Mr. Maxton’s dam was purchased as an open heifer from Pheasantdale Cattle Co. and what a great addition to the herd has she been. 37M might have a bit more color than you might want but just take a minute and give this guy a serious look. This bull is impressive, very similar in body type to his brother 128M that leads off this group of Keon sons. Super dark red, big baldie face, this bull can be used in a variety of situations. Use him to add some chrome or he would possibly work in the heifer pen with his 78 lb birth weight which is top 3% in calving ease with lots of performance for his calves at weaning as he had an impressive 859 lb adjusted weaning weight.

276-day gestation
The last of the red Keon sons on offer. I’m kind of repeating myself here with these Keon sons as they are so similar in their body style. Another dark red, big blaze face bull.
Have a look at this bull as he has got the wow factor. Top Tier is well known in the Simmental breed for his calving ease. 4M is definitely heifer pen friendly. This bull came in dam from a bred Landmark heifer we purchased from the Muirheads. Boy did this first-time mom knock it out of the park with this calf. A low birth weight of 72 lbs with a calving ease of 11.5 but he also has performance that is rare to find in a heifer bull.

The only Advance son we have on offer this year. The Advance sons have been very popular over the years, with the most notable son being T33 Flash 13F going to Crossroads Farms, where he did an outstanding job for them. We have limited semen left in the tank, so we are very selective on when we use it. Here is a bull that covers all the bases with a solid EPD profile. A bull with that herd bull presence about him.

Here is the first of the Landmark sons we have to offer. The Landmark bull was raised by Maxwells at Viking, Alberta and was purchased by Deegs and Muirheads. We were very fortunate to purchase a large group of cows from Muirheads a few years ago that were bred to Landmark. Maxwells and Deegs have had great success selling Landmark sons over the years. Here is a very dark red, solid built bull that is hard to fault. Polled test pending.
Well, if you want them thick and soggy take a look here. Outstanding muscle shape to this bull and full of meat. If you need some different genetics, grab one of these Landmark sons as we will not have any available next year.
The last Landmark son on offer. A dark red heavy muscled individual with a ton of hair. If you want heavy steer calves in fall, grab this guy. WS BEEF MAKER R13

You will notice that this bull missed his haircut. We are very fortunate to have Bennett Foster clip our bulls, but we missed this one, our fault. This is a great bull, it is hard to find a fault with him. Excellent EPD profile and has the highest YWT EPD of all our sale bulls. 51M had a big 888 lb weaning weight and comes from one of our best cows. A full brother to this bull sold to L D Stock Farms of Neudorf, Sask. at last year’s sale.

YTL 91M carries a tick more frame so if you want to add size to your calves here’s a bull that will work for you. A really impressive Denali son out of a really good cow that we acquired from the Diamond M dispersal sale. If you follow EPDs check his chart, it doesn’t get much better than that. Nice moderate birth weight with an actual weaning weight just shy of 900 lbs.

If you want one that is dark red, take a look here. Very smooth built through the front shoulder but still carries great muscle shape throughout. A very nice moderate birth weight, not sure I can recommend him as a heifer bull but he would be great for second calvers or to moderate the birth weight on some power cows. A great set of EPDs.

The first sons to sell off of our new herd sire Scorpion. We only have a couple Scorpion sired bulls this year, but we are really happy with his progeny. We will have many more of his sons in the future. Young Mr Manning is a structurally sound, stylish bull with lots of middle to him. 65M’s dam is a proven breeder as she has produced bulls that have sold to H Bar M Land & Cattle in Macklin, Les Jack at Rocanville and Colin & Tina Baber in Balcarres.

Here is a bull that will be easy to find on sale day. You will have lots of check marks beside him in your catalog. Young Mr. Mullins is pretty hard to pick apart, and he just has that herd bull looks about him. Exceptional thickness throughout and will sire calves that will push down the scales, as 171M himself had a 897 lb. adjusted weaning weight. Great EPD profile. Young Mr. Mullins’ dam’s 2023 bull calf sold to Justin Aspelieter of Sedley last year.

Our only Hardcore son but he is a good one who leads off our offering of black bulls. He is a very complete individual with extra stoutness and eye appeal. 140M has a solid set of EPD’s and was one of the heavyweights when he was weaned at 881 adjusted weaning weight.

Another great Keon son that is very similar to the previous bull 42M in his body structure. Very balanced, easy doing type bull with a ton of eye appeal.

I am struggling to find new descriptions for these black baldy Keon sons as they are so similar in their makeup. Another very useful black baldy bull with a nice EPD profile. His dam is an attractive, hardworking young Hannibal daughter.
If you want to add that extra rib length into your calves, then here is your bull. 46M is super long spined with a modest 84 lb birth weight. He’s got the shape to calve really easy and is a possible heifer pen candidate with a strong calving ease EPD.

This black baldy bull is sired by an American bull named High Life. When we AI’d using High Life we ended up with more heifers than bulls. We were very pleased with the results and retained five High Life sired heifers who are set to calve this spring. 115M is another bull with a little more stretch to him with calving ease genetics on both sides of his pedigree.
Here is a bull that I can recommend for the heifer pen with a nice low 78 lb birth weight and a 14.9 calving ease which puts him in the top 4%. He stands on a little smaller frame but still is very attractive made, with good performance as an added bonus.

129M is a solid made, moderate framed and very complete bull. A great choice for some second calvers or use him on cows to make your next calving season less stressful.

Welcome to the 20th Annual Proudly Western Bull Sale. It has been an honour to be a part of this sale for the past few years with the other consignors, and we are always grateful to everyone that helps to put this sale on.
Thank you to Erin Yewsiuk for capturing the bulls’ good sides, and to Bennett Foster for making these good sides looking prim and proper. It takes many hands to put this catalogue together. Many thanks go out to everyone that purchased and expressed interest in our bulls last year. This year you will notice a large majority are sired by one bull, Circle G Keon. This is not only because we have high expectations from him, but he was given extra cows during breeding season due to another sire’s injury, and he sure didn’t let us down.

29N has been high on our list all year. He is the natural born calf from 28J and what a great job she did. A perfectly put together bull that we are confident will go on to do great things in any operation.

A standout bull from the day he was born, and aside from his unique colouring you could always pick him out in the group. We wish there was more like him but with 5 full sibling sisters from the flush it is pretty exciting to watch them develop this winter.

16N is going to be the bull to add frame size to your herd. Coming from a cow family that has consistently raised some of the heaviest weaning bulls and heifers, 16N will not disappoint. A long, stout heavy boned bull.

Another great bull that is going to add frame size to anyone’s cow herd. When udder quality is a top priority this guy checks that box, his dam and grand dam both have impeccable udders.

This is the sleep easy type heifer bull. Long bodied, smooth shoulder and a tiny head adds up to the type we feel comfortable putting in with a pen of your best replacements.

What a great job done by a first calf heifer. The Blockbuster daughters are turning into great cows, raising calves like this. 14N has the potential to go into any cow herd and make an impressive impact.
ODIN U5
MISS GUNNER W8

Probably the darkest red bull in the pen. He will mature into a moderate framed bull that is going to sire calves with chrome on their face.

Another result of Blockbuster daughters. The amount of white faces Keon has produced here in phenomenal. 12K’s first bull calf sold in last year’s sale to Iron Creek Farms.

Another Blockbuster daughter Keon combination. A stacked pedigree on this guy with his grand dam being 157D. 47N is black all the way to the ground and Sawyer had the perfect name picked out for him, Nighthawk.

Interesting colouring, but none the less a solid bull produced by a first-time mountain view daughter.
34L bred back early to our new herd bull NUG 107M, watch for that calf next year.

A real nice put together baldie. Will mature into a moderate framed bull that will be versatile on many different types of cows. 14H’s Hannibal bull calf sold in last year’s sale to Parkdale Simmentals.

35N and 46N are almost impossible to tell apart other than the ear tag. 22G is a bull making machine. 6 calves, 5 bulls sold through the bull sale and her American red bull calf looks awesome already.

1C does it again, a super long, stout Keon son that is born a little bit later but has kept up with everyone in the pen. Check out 1C’s progeny, every calf born by her was sold through our bull sale or retained for our own herd.
