Welcome to the 2025 Alberta Charolais Select Sale!

What another exciting year to be in the cattle industry. With the weather starting to show some promise and the majority of Alberta seeing decent rainfall to help our pastures and feed inventory recover. To record breaking prices in the fall run of calves with silver and tan calves being at the top of sales, it really is a good time to be raising cattle. The anticipation in the Charolais world is great, bull sales keep topping the market and more and more breeders are investing in great females to start new Charolais herds or build onto their own. Alberta Select is still one of the most highlighted Charolais sales of the year, bringing in the best of the best as well as showcasing the top up and coming bulls in the industry.

Now is the time to invest in your herd and select quality females to raise the next great herd sire. T Bar C has done another top-notch job of traveling across Alberta to put together one of the best groups of females we have seen to date. From open to bred heifers and semen to embryo packages there is something for everyone to select and choose from.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our AGM on Friday at 2pm, followed up with our individual bull show and then the ACA hosting our yearly awards banquet and supper. Saturday’s events kick off with the Pair of Bulls pen show with lunch and the sale to follow. See you on December 12 & 13 at Westerner Park in Red Deer, Alberta.

Welcome to the 2025 edition of the Alberta Select Sale. This premier fall event promises to add another historical chapter to the great white breed. Hosted annually by the Alberta Charolais Association, this sale is the result of the dedicated Alberta Charolais Association board and sale committee who work tirelessly to make it happen. By supporting the Alberta Select, you’re not only investing in top-quality genetics — you’re also directly supporting the Alberta Association and its ongoing efforts to promote the Charolais breed and strengthen your position in the competitive bull market.

The 2025 offering is simply outstanding — in every division — the result of countless miles in pursuit of elite genetics. The breeders represented are progressive and innovative, dedicated to the advancement of the Charolais breed, their programs, and our youth.

Depth, power, and quality define this year’s sale. The bred female division is the strongest to date, featuring front-pasture females carrying early services and you’ll find a top set of 2025 models — fancy, halter broke, and ready for competition before maturing into proven foundation cows. Picks, flushes, embryos, and semen lots complete an offering rich in opportunity.

Charolais and Charolais influence continue to lead the way in every sector of the beef industry, and this is your chance to acquire the best Charolais genetics available anywhere. All signs point to this current hot market continuing so whether you are starting out or an old timer on December 13th, you’ll have the opportunity to bid on and own some of the most elite Charolais breeding packages in the nation.

The T Bar C team is familiar with this exceptional lineup and ready to assist with your selections — professionally and confidentially.

Alberta Select Individual Bull Show

Friday, December 12, 2025

The Grand Champion and/or Reserve Grand Champion bull from that show will be eligible to sell in the Alberta Select sale if the owner chooses. From there those bulls go into a People’s Choice Showdown, where everyone can vote on their favorite bull! Once the votes are tallied we will have our Champion and Reserve Champion Bulls for the 2025 Alberta Select Single Pen Bull Show.

Selling 2/3 Interest in the Canadian Semen Rights and Full Possession. The remaining 1/3 Canadian semen interest will be retained jointly by Circle Cee and Saddleridge Charolais. Exclusive US semen rights will be retained by North Grove Charolais. Semen sales to countries other than Canada or the United States will be shared between Canadian and US partners on an ownership percentage basis. 250 straws of CSS Canadian semen is included in this lot and is currently in storage at BoviGen in Moose Jaw, SK. Capitalist continues to leave his mark on the Charolais breed in North America! Circle Cee partnered with Saddleridge Charolais and brought this genetic powerhouse to Canada in the spring of 2022. Capitalist EPDs are in the top 5% of the breed for 11 out of 13 traits including WW, YW, Milk, and the newly created TSI trait. There are not many bulls in the US or Canada who can compete with Capitalist on EPDs or actual performance numbers. However, the progeny don’t just have great EPD’s – they are stylish, performance based, and possess impeccable feet and legs. Capitalist is a youthful individual, moves incredibly well, has perfect foot and hoof structure and is ready to cover a bunch of cows naturally. Semen sales were intentionally limited in both Canada and the US and when released have commanded top dollar! The limited release of semen to date leaves a tremendous earning opportunity as demand has certainly exceeded supply. The choice to market semen is in the hands of the purchaser of this lot – we are excited to work with the new partners on a strategy that will work for their operation. This is a one in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a proven, breed defining herdsire with a tremendous track record, an outcross pedigree, and an impeccable EPD profile! Watch for a video of Capitalist on www.circlecee.com or either the Circle Cee or Saddleridge Facebook pages!

3 SELLING CHOICE OF THE 2025 NGC CAPITALIST 118J ET INFLUENCED HEIFER CALVES AT CIRCLE CEE CHAROLAIS

The 2025 heifer calf crop at Circle Cee is exceptional! Comments such as “consistent from top to bottom”, “there isn’t a bad one”, or “are you sure you have the best ones locked up?” were all heard as fellow breeders toured our herd this summer and fall. There is one constant to every heifer calf in the pen – Capitalist. In fact the two heifer calves not sired by Capitalist are off of beautiful first calf Capitalist daughters. Here is your chance to sort through and select a heifer calf from the front end of the Circle Cee program out of one of our solid cow families. We will display a few heifer calves at the AB Select this fall that we feel are at the top of our program but the ultimate choice will be yours! Everyone of us at Circle Cee has a different favorite – this will not be an easy choice! Circle Cee reserves the right to one successful flush at their expense and the buyers convenience.

Lily is very attractive, hairy, and what looks to be an incredible udder with great teat placement and size. Her EPD profile is intriguing as well. We showed Lily at the Olds Fall Classic where she was reserve Senior Heifer Champion. Lily is quiet, easy to handle and handled her first show like a rockstar. Her half-sister that sold to Harvie Ranching did a lot of winning, Reserve Champion Female at both Farmfair and Agribition last fall. We also have a half-sister, and her udder is absolutely perfect. It may come as a surprise to many, but the purebred Charolais program at Murray Ranches actually predates the purebred Angus herd. And while the number might be small, I think you will agree, the quality is big league. The main focus of this Charolais endeavor would be to produce bulls. In 2025 at GW Murray Ranches, approximately 2000 Charolais sired calves were born to black hided commercial cows. The white cattle are entrenched in the productive value of our ranches, and so it only makes sense to try and raise some of our own bulls for use on those commercial cows.

38M is our first female progeny to sell out of 447B, a cow that has been flushed and bred in many different ways—always working, no matter the mating. She can raise them herself at ten years old as 38M is her natural calf. A special thank you to Addison Charbonneau for her hard work this fall in helping us get the sale females prepared.

When Highway 21 began searching for Charolais cattle to start our purebred program, we researched hundreds of sires and pedigrees. JSR Estrada quickly stood out as an elite outlier, combining exceptional phenotype and EPD traits that placed him at the top of all sires we reviewed. Watching his progeny consistently top sales— often sold in groups of 3–5 head to repeat buyers who know and trust his genetics—confirmed our decision to partner with Char-Maine Ranching and Spruce View Charolais on this standout sire.
