FEMALE SALE
Welcome to the Steppler Farms female sale! It’s time to celebrate. One thing we have learnt these past few years, is that you must celebrate and get together with your friends and industry partners whenever you can. We all need excitement and something to look forward to and this female sale was designed with those two ideas in mind. First off, we really didn’t have a chance to celebrate our 100th year farming in 2021, so we thought let’s do it now; 100 lots for 100 years farming. Then in true Steppler fashion, we need to give back to our community. Friends, Darrin and Wendy Pearson, came to us with the vision of donating a heifer to STARS. We jumped at the idea to partner with them for this great cause! See Lot 1 to see how you can donate to STARS getting a full tax receipt and have a chance to win a fancy show heifer.
This year’s offering is our very best of our bred heifer pen. When putting together a set of sale heifers, the goal is to sell cow family building females. To accomplish this, they must be correct, functional and maternally backed. As you go through the sire groups, you will notice correct udder structures, ample depth of rib and angular made females. It’s simple, feminine-made females that produce those masculine, sought-after bulls.
Juniors take notice of the heifer calves on offer. With the 2023 National CCYA conference being held in Brandon, MB this upcoming July, it’s time to find your junior project. Every one of these females would make ideal candidates. All heifers will be tie broke and if time allows, we will halter break them as well. We will also offer to keep your purchase here and deliver her to the CCYA show. With Brynn here to get these heifers bomb proof, buy with confidence to have a great CCYA experience and then watch your show heifer develop her own cow family.
We would also like to introduce everyone to our new sale management team here at Steppler Farms — T Bar C. Chris and his team bring a strong industry presence, while producing a fun, professional atmosphere!

The heifer pens are always here for viewing, as well as the 120 plus sale bulls on offer this February 15th. This will also be our first sale in our new sales facility, so come and enjoy the celebration!
- Andre, Katie & familyFEMALE SALE // DECEMBER 14, 2022 // 1:00 PM // AT THE FARM, MIAMI, MB
FROM THE DESK AT T BAR C...
Welcome to Steppler Farms Female Sale on December 14, 2022, at the farm in their new sale facility, Miami, Manitoba. This is their “100 for 100” event and more importantly they celebrate 100 years in farming. In a diverse farming operation, Steppler Farms will rank as one of the largest Charolais herds in the country with successful annual bull sales.
The Stepplers believe in strong family values and community involvement… in celebration of 100 years, their commitment to the community is with a fund raiser for “Stars”. The lot 1 heifer is a high value prospect out of the top of their herd and will make a foundation female for the lucky supporter. This celebration, 100 lots for 100 years is outstanding with foundation quality from end to end. This great cow herd was developed by using strong family values as well and 2022 offers top females out of the foundation families that makeup the herd. The 2022 models are fancy and exciting… chosen for their competitiveness. With the 2023 CCYA Conference hosted in Brandon… the Stepplers offer 4-H and junior members assistance with their purchases, so they can be involved and compete in this exciting event. The heifer calves will be tie-broke and probably halter broke.
Over the past decades, Steppler Farms has built a program on walking bulls – walking bulls of high quality and purpose. This process has maintained uniformity in type, fertility and quality as the herd is made up of half and three-quarter sisters. The bred heifers in the sale lineup all come out of the replacement pasture. Most have early service, sport broodiness and capacity and have great udders coming… like their mothers. December 14th will be an opportunity day in the Charolais industry as you will have the chance to acquire and build your own cow family (s). This is the largest offering of bred yearling heifers in North America.

The success of Charolais throughout the sale barns in the nation will increase because of the need to fulfill commercial bull batteries. Top quality Charolais females get higher every week… now is the time to put fresh Steppler genetics into your breeding program. Stop by the farm, any time prior to the sale, view the awesome lineup and get a peak at the mothers and brothers. Join us and be a part of a hundred-year celebration! Feel free to give any of the T Bar Team a call and we will assist with your purchases in a professional and confidential manner.

Steppler Miss Cove 27K is one sweetheart of a heifer. She has already been taken out to the Black Sands Jackpot Show in Virden, MB and boy was she nice to work with. This stout made Houlio daughter comes from our PCC purchase a few years back; Miss Prairie Cove 307A. 307A has been that consistent producer her and will calve again this January at a coming age of 10. We have been so impressed with our Houlio calves that we had to buy back into the bull at the foundation sale! Houlio will continue to make his mark for years to come.

Here’s the show heifer! This heifer has CCYA written all over her. 55k can been taken out several times making and has been very successful on the show road, making it to the final run at the Virden All Breed Black Sands Jackpot Show and then shown by Brayden at Ag-Ex. Take notice of this heifer’s bold rib shape, correct structure and that beautiful front end. she comes from on our strongest Pursuit daughters, 193D, who is also the mother of the lot 25.

Here is one special lot coming from our great 52G donor female. 52G was our highest selling female to date going to our great friend Sarah Galbraith for a commanding $45,000. Simply put Winchester x Braxton x 80X is truly one special genetic design. Maternal power at its best. Now add Houlio into the mix and wow what an opportunity! We really admire how correct this female is and carries herself with pride and fluidity! CCYA candidate for sure!

With CCYA coming up next year in MB, we wanted to offer up some of our very best. 110K is that fancy made show heifer that has all the attributes to continue into that competing show pair. 110K dam is one special Winchester daughter here, that is also backed by Braxton and Seminole. That sweeping depth of rib, correct structure and that docile temperament makes her quite an exciting show prospect.

Diamondback is one of the best footed red factor bulls I have ever been able to find. He runs on a huge hoof and sets up on it perfectly. When developing the red factor division, foot structure was a must. Now designed along with performance, these Diamondback daughters have a great future ahead of them.

Here’s one of the first Diamondback Daughters to sell this fall. We wanted to select two high level red factor daughters to highlight our red factor program here at Steppler Farms. With the red factor division in its early stages, we definitely should be keeping this female at home.

Here’s another Diamondback daughter that will make a great cow. When picking females to enter the donor pen, I picked a young female that most wouldn’t look at. 383E is that heavy haired, deep chested, has that cattleman udder, correct as they come and stems from one of most consistent, long lasting cow families. Sounds good right, but yes 383E is horned. Bred to Diamondback of course the resulting calves are all polled, smooth headed and to simply put it, it worked
LOT 8

Here’s the full sister to our lead of red factor bull Steppler Trade Secret 167K. 167K is a dark red, long spined, correct, performance orientated son of ProChar Diamondback 113H. We wanted to highlight how great this cross is by offering 156K. Performance and backed by one of our most consistent Sparrows Copenhagen daughters 268B. 268B was put into our donor pen after she knocked it out of the park producing us Steppler Miss 322H our highest selling heifer calf to date to our good friends at Pro-Char Charolais

LOT 9

Every year when selecting heifers for this sale, our goal is to offer one from each of our up-and-coming herd sires. 9K is a great representation of what is to come from our Junior Herd Sire Beck Magnum 2017. This heifer carries her head up naturally with that added neck extension and follows up with an abundance of rib and stout structure. Docile is nature and comes from one of our strongest Seminole cow families.

Flush Lot

Opportunity knocks here with the opportunity to flush any female here at Steppler Farms. This cow herd has been developed over the last 49 years and supplies progeny to host one of the largest Charolais bull sales each spring and the only annual female sale in Canada. You exclusively get the chance to go through over 600 head registered Charolais females to pick your next foundation cow family.
Females are sired by industry greats – Sparrows Seminole 927W, Sparrows Braxton 519C, Pro-Char Winchester 6D, Sparrows Copenhagen 210Z, HTA Contender 605D, Steppler Pursuit 178A, Steppler Jack Black 387F, JWX Burnin’ it Down 613B, Becks Charm 869F just to name a few.

We also had the chance to acquire one great Full French female from EMB Charolais this fall, Echo Springs Orianna 13C! She is my type of Full French female, stout, added bone, correct structure, huge spring of rib and has consistently produced herd sires type bull calves.

Majority of the Steppler females will calve in January and will be ready to flush in the early days of March. Pick to be done in the Spring of 2023 and to be performed at the buyers choice. Guarantee of 5 embryos

We had the opportunity to buy into this great bull by acquiring a semen interest in Bourbon through the PCC bull sale last fall. Knowing that we were contemplating the idea of a 100 for 100 female sale, we knew we needed to have a service sire to the heifers that would help create excitement around the sale and produce an extremely exciting calf crop. After seeing Berkly at Agribition, we knew we wanted her genetics involved here at Steppler Farms. After to few phone calls to Chris, we had found the bull; PCC Bourbon 118J. Bourbon froze semen right away and we AI’ed over 100 head to him. We also took the opportuity to flush several cows to him aswell. Bourbon then took off on the show road this fall and heads were turned; Grand Champion bull at Olds and Reserve Grand Champion at Farm Fair! What great accomplishments and we are extremely pleased with all the hard work Tyler and Justine have put into this bull and look forward to a great partnership going forward!

Steppler Miss 52G is proving herself as great donor female. She was purchased by Sarah Galbraith out of our 6th Annual Female sale for a commanding $45,000 and has remained here at to be managed at Steppler Farms. This female has already sought the interested of Kay R Charolais, Circle 7, Hunter Charolais, and Eagle Valley Farms, and Greg Pugh through the rights to flush and embryos purchases. 52G first embryos calves have hit the ground here and they are impressive; consistent, heavy haired and extremely correct. They will be features in our fall females sale run and our long running bull sale! The matings to 52G are exciting to say the least; Bourbon and Houlio. Bourbon our female maker, back by Berkley herself and Houlio one of the most sought-after AI sires. Great opportunity here to step into our industry leading genetics.Co-owned with Sarah Gilbraith

Here’s could very well be my pick of the heifer pen. I am an absolute fan of the Jack Black sire group and this heifer comes to the top for me. She comes from the White Arrow cow family and her dam 229E is a maternal sister to one of our high selling females; Steppler White Arrow 104A, who was purchased by Dale McKay through the Agribition sale as a bred heifer. 104A went on to be shown as a pair with her bull calf at side, Steppler Blue Print 64C’ who has his very own sire group in this sale. 287J breeding date I think can be blamed on the 6 Colorado lows we had this spring. I had missed

Level 535H bull.

Here’s the match to the 287J heifer. Super correct, feminine made and bred early to our new Jr Herd Sire PCC Bourbon 118J. Maternal strengths run deep in this 456J heifer, Seminole, Jacksonville, Fort Minor and our HFCC 68N cow family. The HFCC 68N cow family was started when we purchased 8 head out of the Harder Dispersal. 68N now has develop a huge cow family here including our latest donor 250H, mother of our STARS donation heifer.

Here’s a female that doesn’t get enough attention. She should be a feature; super correct, docile, and bred early to our walking herd sire Brimner 9F. Check out the 9F daughters selling in this sale; calving ease females that are so versatile in their abilities.

354J is a very unique young heifer. She is a member of the Why Not cow family with over 7 descendants in this very sale. All these Jack Black heifers are designed and built the same way, correct, soft eyed heifers with ample capacity.
Every group of females has a few sleepers in it and this young female is one to take notice of; big ribbed, super correct, and extends up into a beautiful front end. If you are looking to put together a big group of Steppler females I would add this heifer in.

White Arrow cow family! The White Arrow cow family has truly made the biggest impact here at Steppler Farms. The original White Arrow cow, 26P, was purchased in 1983 and since then has created a cow family with over 50 active decedents in the herd today. Another bull to take notice of in her pedigree is

379J

to the 340J heifer! She follows so closely in her style and make up that it’s a toss-up as to who is the better female. 379J goes back to the Why Not cow family and check out her curve bending EPDS.

Steppler Miss 253J is one attractive made Charm daughter that is bred far along to the Semex calving ease AI sire Cedarlea Galveston 7G. 111X produced us 6 elite females with 5 being retained here at Steppler Farms and one, 42B, selected to be a part of our group of 10 breds who sold in one off the first No Borders Sale. Scott Colton selected the 42B female. 111X has also produced us elite herd sires with one being sold to Bina Charolais, North Dakota. Here’s the biggest framed, longest spined, performance orientated females to sell in the sale. This is one big mamma! Bred early to Brimner Bull 9F who was our Homo polled walking heifer bull.
April 12. 2022 AI bred to Cederlea Galveston 7G April 19. 2022 AI bred to Brimner Bull 9F

Steppler Axel 320G was our 2020 High selling bull to Pro-Char, CK Sparrow and Twin Anchor Charolais. We used him in our AI program and the results were impressive. Note the correctness, natural thickness, and the sheer power that these Axel daughters exhibit. The following year we sold Axel’s dam in our female sale to Cays Cattle and they had exceptional results with offspring being showcased in the first Superstar Female sale held in Saskatoon.

Steppler Why Not 28J is one impressive female. If you are looking to add a higher level of performance to your herd this female hits the mark. 28J’s grandmother 15Y has been an elite producing female and will calve again this January at 12 years of age. Here’s also your only chance to acquire the service to our new Jr Herd Sire Highway Estrada 4J. Check

Feature here! 103J could very well be the stoutest made, heavy haired female in the pen. She sets up on a correct structure and is backed by one powerful Copenhagen female, 84B. 103J is already setting up and beautiful udder and being ultra-sounded safe to the AI service, the resulting Bourbon calf should be a unique breeding piece. During the repeat on the sync,

Steppler Miss 142J is a moderate, stout, docile young female. She also has that heavy hair that cattleman love to chase. With Burning it Down in the pedigree, added length of spine and that buff cream color comes through in this young prospect. Bred early to Bourbon!

We first saw Full House at Agribition as a calf, where he was named Jr Bull Calf Champion. Then we were luckily enough to acquire him the following year in the PCC bull sale. Full House has really made an impact here at Steppler Farms. Not only has he produced us some our highest selling bulls, he has consistently provided that docile, beautiful uttered, cow family builder type heifer pen. Check out this large Full House sale offering. Normally we would only be offering 3-4 Full Houses, but since its 100 for 100, you will be able to a select out of 12 own daughters and 4 full house granddaughters.

Steppler Miss 1J has that typical Full House temperament, docile and just easy to have around. Take a look at her structure and type. Got to love that added depth of rib and that strong, full in the flank attribute! Check out this heifer’s milk EPD; ranks in the top 1% of the breed. 249Y is still in production here at the age of 12; longevity is bred int this one. This heifer might have been missed after the sync since she was a surprise that she ultra-sounded to the High Level 535H bull.

Here’s quite an offering here. Not too often do we sell twins in the female sale. To be honest, in most cases I would rather just have one born. However, this is definitely a double up situation. 194A, Seminole daughter, did a great job raising both of these heifers and it’s hard to tell them apart. 194A also raised Brynn’s 4H heifer, Mel B, who made a lot of friends on the summer show road, winning her interclub as well. Both of these heifers are big ribbed, correct and docile. 33J is AI bred to new AI sire SOS Jackpot 158J. He is a calving ease Duty Free son. 34J is also AI ed to CKE Mitch 5H. For added consistency swipe the ring here, it’ll be exciting to see these two develop into great cows.

303J is one of the main reasons that we decided to put her dam 383E into the donor pen. If I could design the ideal female here that continues to produce us the cattleman type herdsires, it would be 383E; Heavy haired, super correct, stout made, beautiful udder and sets up on a solid foot. Most would not even look at flushing a cow like 383E since she is a horned female, but I kind of think that’s maybe the very reason she ended up in the donor pen.

Steppler Miss 362J is very complete in her make up. She checks all the boxes; stout made, correct, and stylish. Comes from the Allison cow family that has really left their mark here. The Allision cow family has a knack of supplying us that fancy made show heifer. Brayden’s CCYA heifer for next summer comes from this cow family.

Steppler Miss 220J is a sale feature and would easily be in my top three! Big ribbed, loaded capacity, super correct, Blue Value milking ability through a picture-perfect udder, and a female that has the front pasture presence. Investors here’s one to turn a profit since she comes from our 124M cow family that has produced us Steppler Distinction 38T Agribition Reserve Champ Bull, Steppler Eye in the Sky 183H working at Bar H Charolais, and two show bred heifers that both made their way to CK Sparrow Farms. 329E is a female that is deemed to be a donor, her first daughter 450G is a high level Winchester daughter, already putting bull into the pen, 183H an El Paso son working at Bar H Charolais, this 220J Blue Print daughter who speaks for herself and 329E’s 2022 calf 250K, a Blue Print son, will turn heads in our 2023 Bull Sale. Steppler Why Not 108J, here’s one of the higher performance made Why Not females on offer. Big framed with that balanced rib cage and strong top makes this performance package a sound investment. Copenhagen also has stamped his heavy hair on this female. Steppler CSI 581H is one of our walking MAIN Odessa sons out of our Allision cow family. Steppler
385J is a double bred Seminole daughter! Simply put, you cannot have enough Seminole in a pedigree when it comes to developing a cow herd. This broody female is AI bred to Beck Thread 2176J. Thread was the talk to the Charolais barn at Agribition last year standing beside his Braxton dam and now he creating even more buzz as a yearling. RBC Supreme Qualifier already by winning Ag-Ex, come and take a look at this exciting breeding piece!!

We bought Braxton because we believed he had the potential to take our cow herd to the next level. By teaming up with Beck Farms, SK, we were able to purchase this breed leader who was the highest selling bull in Canada that year. Braxton is one of the most impressive bulls we have ever walked at Steppler Farms. Braxton is so fluid in his stride; he is quiet, deep chested, huge hipped, with perfect structure, and he comes from a tremendous cow. The calving ease in this sire is second to none. The calves have tremendous amount of vigour at birth and never look back. The Braxton females are simply awesome.

126J - Here’s another heifer from that same predictable Braxton, Winchester cross. Top 5% for CE and top 1% for milk. 423E has done a tremendous job and when you go through our 2023 bull sale catalogue you will see her two feature sons. First her red factor Blue Print two year old herd sire prospect and then her 2022 Pro Char 45H son, who was in our top ten for weaning weight.

127J is one mellow made Braxton daughter. 127J may not be the biggest or the most impressive heifer in the pen, but she has all the fundamentals giving her the opportunity to be that long last female that just keeps on producing. Some of the best investments I have made were buying females just like this one.

Whiplash was brought up to run in our heifer pen. We were looking for reliable calving ease sire that could efficiently calve out a large group of heifers each year while providing us great daughters. Whiplash has done exactly that.

Steppler Miss 124J is one special sale offering. This big barreled, maternally designed female is one of the strongest heifers we will be offering on December 14th! This heifer has that big time performance and power. Take a look at her stylish front end. 111Y was one of my favourite Seminole daughters that we lost to an injury early in her life. Bred early to the PCC Bourbon 118J bull for a mid January calf!

Steppler Hope 30J is a very complete correct made female. She comes from the Hope cow family that is known here for their added performance and maternal strengthens. 161A has a lead off Houlio bull calf being developed to headline our 2023 bull sale. When I look through catalogues for maternal greats, Sparrows La Quinta 10W always gets me to stop and take a hard look! The La Quinta cow family has bred some breed changers like Sparrows Parker 806F selling to Sliding Hills and Scott Johnston. Bred early to SOS Jackpot 158J

Here’s one functional, correct made Whiplash daughter! Whiplash x Seminole = Maternal. Bred early to Bourbon!!
Here is a female that can make u stop in you tracks. This stylish made Whiplash/Braxton daughter really has that donor presence look. This Why Not cow family descedent is correctly made and so fluid in her stride. This heifer is bred a little later and will make a great addition to anyone’s herd.
Steppler Miss 200J, what I way to end off the Whiplash sire group! Here is one impressive female packed with performance and style. This power female comes from the HFCC 68N cow family that is so well-known for their maternal capabilities. When we usually calve out 150 bred heifers, it’s a complete must that they have that cattleman’s udder. This heifer will develop exactly that. Bred to Bourbon for a beginning of February calf!

Flagstaff was acquired from Harcourt Charolais to breed our Braxton daughters. He has done a tremendous job giving us that added shape and easy doingness. Correct structure, with added calving ease, makes this sire group a great option for calving on grass. Flagstaff brings an unique pedigree here, Silverstream Evolution backed by the maternal powerhouse Alcatraz.

We purchased Winchester from Pro-Char Charolais to run in our heifer pen and what a job he has done for us. Winchester was recently purchased by CK Sparrow Farms and will continue his consistency in calving ease. We probably didn’t realize when we bought Winchester, how great a female maker he would become. The Winchester females are simply awesome. The whole sire group is consistent in their moderate frame, easy doing ability, sound structure and are already laying down that cattleman’s udder. The Winchesters calved efficiently and are great mother cows, with ample milk and beautiful udder structures. Winchesters are such functional females that can do so much for the industry.

Herd Health Program
Our Program
Production and efficiencies are very important on our farm. We have a short, intensive breeding program. All females are AI bred for efficiencies and calculated matings. We try to get 95% of the cows exposed in the first cycle with a 70- 75% conception rate. Correct, accurate nutrition, high quality semen, and time invested in heat detection and inseminating are the keys to achieving this target. Once the cows go through the 28 day AI program, the herd bulls go to work. Since most of the cows have conceived already, the herd bulls are ultimately clean up bulls. The mature bulls easily travel throughout the last 32 days of the breeding program. All females are pregnancy checked early in the summer and culls and opens are taken out.
We maintain a high and rigorous herd health regime as outlined below. This enables us to have a successful breeding program and ensures potential buyer the high health standards of these sale cattle.
Calf Herd Health Protocol
Birth – Inforce 3, Selenium/Vit A, Toltrazuril 3 weeks of age – Pyramind 4
