Welcome

From the desk at T Bar... Welcome to Spirit of the North Bull Sale, on April 9th at Spiritwood Stockyards, Spiritwood, Saskatchewan.

This annual event is a combination of three major breeds that are big players in the livestock fraternity. Mated to one another, they produce the highest, most sought-after stockers and feeders in the industry, just ask Brian Jacobson…he sees them all fall and winter and helps you market them for the highest dollar. Werstroh Farms provide the Simmental component. These Simmental bulls display tons of muscle, shape and performance, but do not give up on hair and testicles and add a high maternal value individually. This is not by chance, but due to a great herd of Simmental females that have been bred to adapt to the big pastures and the environment they live in. These Simmental bulls will add pounds without fuss.

Chris Poley 306.220.5006

Cleveland Farms offer the British influence for this event. They offer two-year-olds that can cover more cows, more ground and add a dimension of uniformity to their calf crop. In addition, these bulls have muscle, performance, hair and will add a dimension of calving ease while giving you high maternal values with every bull you purchase. Casbar is the supplier of the Charolais component. They bring you a powerful set of bulls that represent sires from the most popular breed in the industry. We all know the value of Char-cross calves as they have been topping markets for three decades. The Casbar bulls are stout money-makers that will fit any and all programs, with a make money guaranteed. Plan to be with us for this “get your bulls all in one day event!” Stop by and visit these progressive operations and get a preview of the bulls or don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss which bulls will suit your breeding needs.

If we may be of assistance, prior to or sale day, feel free to contact any of the T Bar team or myself, we will help you in a professional manner.

The Percentage Calving Chart

Charolais

1. An average cow of any breed should be able to calve 7% of her body weight. 2. Most Charolais and Simmental cows will weigh between 1400-1800 lb., expected calf weight to range from 98 to 126 lb. 3. Most Red Angus and Black Angus cows will weigh between 1200-1600 lb., expected calf weight range 84 to 112 lb. 4 Calving ease is more important than birth weight because a longer sided calf may calve easy, but the birth weight is higher. (see 7% Calving Chart below) 7% CALVING CHART

info@tbarc.com www.buyagro.com

Birth Weight & Calving Ease

University studies in Wyoming and data from Montana and Colorado lend credence to the following conclusion: 1. The birth weight itself influences calving ease by 65% 2. The female has 60-70% influence on birth weight of her calf. 3. The bull has 30-40% influence on birth weight of his progeny. 4. Pelvic measurement and angle as well as the shape of the calf have 35-40% influence on calving ease. 5. Length of gestation greatly affects birth weight. A fetus can gain over one pound per day in the last days of gestation. 6. Weather and temperature the last 30 days affect the length of gestation. 7. Size and maturity of cow influence calving ease.

Werstroh Farms Ltd.

Well here we go again. Hello and welcome to our annual Spirit of the North Bull Sale. We want to thank all of our past customers for your continued support of our program and hope that we have new customers to meet as well. Even though 2019 was a very trying year, we think the cattle market has stayed very strong and are looking forward to bringing a very strong set of bulls to town on April 9. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have about our offering. We always recommend coming to see the bulls and their dams at home before the sale. If you are unable to make it sale day, give Brian or Justin a call at the Spiritwood Stockyards, or any of the T Bar C staff, they will be glad to help you out. Also, new this year the sale will be online through DLMS. See you all on Thursday, April 9 at the Spiritwood Stockyards. Thanks, Randy and Carol Werstroh

Cas Bar Farms

Welcome to our annual Spirit of The North bull sale. This is the time of year that we look forward to with great anticipation and excitement. On behalf of all of us here at Cas Bar Farms we would like to thank you for your interest and support of our program. Please accept our personal invitation to come join us on sale day. Every year we work extremely hard to bring forth the best group of yearling and two year old Charolais bulls that we possibly can, and this group is no exception. This year’s offering is shaping up to be the most consistent and uniform group that we have raised to date. Some of these bulls in the sale are from our AI and Embryo transplant program. These bulls come from the top cows in our herd combined with some of the best sires in the Charolais industry. These bulls are selected based on function, performance, and longevity, all the while paying special attention to calving ease, disposition and high maternal traits. All bulls will be semen tested and a veterinary certificate will accompany their bill of sale. We are very excited for these bulls to go out and make an impact for their new owners program. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Clay with any questions regarding any of the bulls, or stop in at the farm before sale day as we would like to help you pick the bulls that would best suit your program. Please join us on sale day at the Spiritwood Auction Mart for lunch before the sale. Lionel, Debbie, Kira and Clay

This bull comes right out of the high seller from the Angle H dispersal two falls ago. This bull checks all of the right boxes, he is thick, deep through his chest, hairy, stands on a tremendous set of feet and legs and has great disposition. Clevelands Farm

Welcome again to our annual Spirit of the North Bull Sale. Thank you to all past bidders and buyers and welcome to the new ones. As always, we only offer and sell two year old bulls. We find these bulls are able to develop and mature so they are ready to work, plus maintain themselves and handle more females. For the last five years our travels have led us to Montana to tour the bull studs in search of new and proven genetics. As a result of these trips we decided to implement more AI into herd. In this year’s offering you will see direct sons of Payweight 107S, as in past years, he has done the job for us producing top feed efficient bull calves as well as extremely functional cows. Other sires like Insight 0129, Pulse 533, and Chairman 512 are also represented. All bulls are double vaccinated with Fuseogard to help prevent foot rot. We hope to have a bull that meets your needs, be it in the heifer pasture or in with the cows. If you are unable to be with us on sale day, you are able to bid on DLMS or Brian and Justin at Spiritwood Stockyards, Wreford Family and the T Bar C staff direct your bids. We at Clevelands Farm would like to thank you for your trust and interest in our program. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or talk to us before the sale. Terms & Conditions:

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus, Charolais & Simmental Associations unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. Pedigree Estimates: Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such. Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may, in extreme cases, be taken must be between buyer and seller. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Insurance: We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value. Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.

Guarantee: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the breed associations with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.
