The cattle business has always been a supply and demand industry and today the demand far exceeds our world supply. What a positive position to be in and we are in for some very exciting times. I believe the cattle/beef industry will rise to a pricing level that no one would ever have imagined. The cattle business is no different than any other business it’s all about maximizing your return. Running a Charolais bull on your cow herd will certainly maximize your return. Order buyers and feedlots cannot source enough Char X calves; the demand far exceeds the supply. It is no secret that the feeding industry has paid and will continue to pay a big premium for Charolais influenced cattle. With today’s prices, producers need the pounds to go with these record prices, that’s how you maximize your returns. Our Grandfather Alex farmed his whole life here until his passing on July 12th of last year. He took great satisfaction in what he built and grew with his own two hands. Witnessing a newborn calf nurse for the first time, cutting hay or watching the crop ripen for harvest were some of many things that created his genuine passion for farming. This sale was always a highlight for him as he got to visit with old friends and meet new acquaintances. As many of us knew, socializing was a favourite pastime for him. His big smile and encouraging words are greatly missed, but we can take the values that he instilled in us and put them to good use. This 2012 Size Matters Charolais Bull Sale is dedicated to his memory.

Sliding Hills Charolais We invite you to our 6th Annual Size Matters Charolais Bull Sale. The livestock industry is alive and well. The future looks promising as the world population grows, so does the demand for food production. The prime producer will benefit from the increased demand for the quality beef they produce. Our commitment here at Sliding Hills remains the same, to produce sound, fertile and efficient beef cattle. We select our herd sires to compliment the strengths of our cow herd. They all stamp their progeny in their own unique way. A square foot, muscle, depth of body and fluid movement are a must. These traits are visible in our bull pen. Fertility and ease of calving have been bred in to guarantee a complete package. There have been some changes at Size Matters this year. The Hunter family have enough numbers to conduct their own sale; we would like to wish them well on their first sale. For the first time, the Size Matters bulls will be sold through a Power Point presentation. These bulls will be available for viewing at any time prior to the sale. This will give us an opportunity to spend some time one-on-one, show you our program, and answer any questions you may have. Terms:
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.
Bidding:
Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Disputes:
Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.
Announcements:
Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.
Purchaser’s Risk:
Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s rick for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.
Certificate of Registration:
Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.
Delivery:
Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.
Breeder Guarantee:
Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of the purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Exception Guarantee:
In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.
Accidents:
Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
Insurance:
Insurance will be available sale day.
