We are honored and humbled to supply the beef business with the largest offering of Black Angus genetics in Manitoba! First and foremost, we want to extend our sincerest thank you to our past customers that put their faith in the program that we have built here at the ranch. We understand that while we may be the largest Angus outfit in Manitoba, you have many options when it comes to filling bull needs, so the fact that you have chosen and SBF prefix fills us with so much gratitude. We make our living off the land and these cattle, and we are a family that is passionate about the agricultural industry and the amazing people we have met through it. If you have not purchased a bull from us before and one in these pages catches your eye, know that we stand behind out cattle 100%, and there is no bigger priority to us than your success. While there are bulls in the offering that fit a wide and diverse range of needs, we love the consistency that this year’s bulls display. They are a stout made set with lots of natural muscling and expression, a thick coat of hair, and lots of eye appeal. The larger sire groups on offer include Angus Ranch, Growth Fund, and Jesse James; and in addition, we have a small offering of incredibly elite genetics and sires that include Gable and Profound. We have bulls that will receive rave reviews from the heifer pen with low birth weights and high breed rankings for performance, as well as bulls that will inject pounds and pay weight into the most established of cow herds. The kids continue to keep us busy and on our toes, and it is very rewarding watching them grow up with cows around and seeing them show so much interest in our operation. It seems hard to believe that I am already welcoming you to the Strongbow Farms Bull Sale for the seventh time. It is truly remarkable to look back and consider what the young Bertholet family has done to grow and evolve the SBF operation in less than a decade’s time. Devon and Heather show no fear or hesitation in constantly progressing forward and display an immense dedication to whatever they set their minds to. While they have rapidly grown to be Manitoba’s largest supplier of Black Angus bulls, the cow herd and offering has remained as high quality, consistent, and predictable as you will find. There is a herd sire for every specific need within these pages, and the bulls are backed and guaranteed by one of the best young families to do business with as you will find. The 2024 edition of the catalogue is headlined by the S A V Angus Ranch sire group. I would dare say that up until this point, the Angus Ranch bull has maybe been an underrated herd sire at the ranch in Hartney. Of course, this status will be no more once you see this large and impressive group displayed in these pages and on sale day. Leading the charge is a truly exceptional power bull. Bold sprung and three dimensional in his makeup, while still maintaining a poised and balanced herd bull look about him; you will need to make many miles to find a bull with this much phenotypic quality and numbers to back it. The Growth Fund sire group is always a favorite at SBF, with this year being no exception. These are the curve bending type of cattle that offer very low birth with pay weight to them, in a package that you will love to see patrolling your pastures. All the staple sires are represented in this catalogue, including the calving ease deluxe Rainfall, the cow sense and science merging Resource, and the phenotypic perfection Jesse James. Featured this year are genetics from some of the most cutting-edge bulls in the Angus breed to date. While not large in numbers, sons from Ellingson Profound, Schiefelbein Gable, and Coleman Bravo will no doubt be features come sale day. Devon and Heather have bred these bulls to cover many bases for their customers, so whether you are looking for some extra sleep and lower stress when calving heifers or add some jam to your cows, I have no doubt you will find one that will exceed your expectations here. New and extremely intriguing this year is a select group of Simmental bulls. Devon and Heather felt that the progression into the Simmental breed was only a natural choice in order to offer a diverse selection to their customers. I can’t think of a better choice for them to purchase the start of their Simmental herd from the world-renowned R Plus operation. The R Plus cows were designed to produce herd bulls, and it is clear within these pages that that legacy will live on. The genetics here are on the forefront of the Simmental breed, with representation from Yuma, Hannibal, and the hard to come by Mandate. Thick made, robust Simmental bulls with lots of hair and backed by the best momma cows you will find. The cattle business today is redefining optimism for a lot of folks, and it is extremely exciting to see all the sweat equity and financial investment made by producers be rewarded at market. It is without a doubt that the evolution of Strongbow Farms has been rapid in it's growth. We believe in not cutting corners, not taking the easy way out, and always doing things right the first time. This philosophy is not done with only ourselves in mind, but is also to best serve a product to our customers that we can be proud of, and we know will serve the people who put their trust in our program in terms of production and the ultimate and all-encompassing goal of profit. We know that you have many options to fill your herd bull needs, but we do feel there are some factors that set us apart.

1. THE TOP CUT. There is a rigorous screening process that the bulls go through before they get a slot in these pages. We have a very large cowherd base of 750+ momma cows, so only the very top 25% is considered for this sale offering. We demand the best, which is why only the best is considered allowable to be offered to you. 2. ALL WE DO Our entire family relies on the beef business to sustain us. This is not a side project or hobby for us, it is the industry we live and breathe. Therefore, we get a bird's eye view to what works and what doesn't. We know margins in this industry can be tight, and the last thing we want when calving 2000 head between purebreds and commercials is to invest in something that doesn't last.

3. CONSISTENCY We have made it a priority to be strategic when purchasing cattle and making our breeding decisions for the year. As a result of this, we have many 3/4 and 7/8 brothers on offer, which contributes to so much consistency and uniformity throughout the bulls. We do have a large amount of heifer bulls and lots that offer more performance and power, but the type and kind that we like around here remains evident. 4. FOCUS ON THE CUSTOMER Being as though we make our living on the beef industry, we realize that our success is contingent on our customer success, and the opportunity to serve the same customer base year after year. The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

All bulls sold are guaranteed breeders by the owners. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull. Should any bull fail to be an unsatisfactory breeder, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value, or a credit will be given toward the purchase of another bull. If you have a problem with your bull please notify us immediately. Under no circumstances will the seller be liable for more than the purchase price of the animal.

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

C E RT I F I CAT E O F R E G I S T RAT I O N...

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

P E D I G R E E E S T I M AT E S...

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.
