Rendezvous Welcome It is with great anticipation & pleasure that we welcome you to our 16th Annual Bull & Female sale, held once again in one of Manitoba’s busiest auction barns, the Ste Rose Auction Mart. As I sit down to write this welcome page, the idea of starting a new year fresh with new opportunities makes one look forward to what the future has in store. No doubts that 2019 has been a challenging year for anyone in Agriculture, however, the sun will shine again & just like generations before us, we will continue to produce the best quality livestock & grain that is ultimately possible. We really are fortunate to be in an industry with whom everyone rallies together & keeps on trucking. Piecing this catalog together doesn’t happen overnight, however with the opportunity in doing so, it gives the chance to really study & get to know these cattle. With 41 years of raising Simmental cattle it’s quite amazing how much we’ve improved not only our program but more importantly, our customer’s herds at the same time. The positive feedback received by so many on new sire groups & how the influence of “this bull” has lasted in someone’s herd really shows the positive impacts that happen when selecting the right bulls. I’d like to think that we, as a seedstock supplier truthfully put our money where our mouth is. We sure like to raise & sell bulls…but they don’t happen without us going out & selecting the very best possible herdbulls in the country. Last spring we purchased 6 new bulls for a total of $151,500. That’s big money to put out, but we feel that owning & using the very best bulls always pays huge dividends later down the road. We also feel that it gives you our customer the opportunity & confidence in buying & using Rendezvous bulls as you get to access some of the very best Simmental bloodlines for a very real, affordable price. You will not find Pump Jacks or Skyscraper apartment blocks subsidizing our cattle herd. Just cows & canola relying on Mother Nature, same as what you built your farm on. As our numbers grow, so does our quality. Contrary to popular belief, when there’s more to choose from, you will cull harder. With this, we are proud to offer approx. 180 head of Red, Black & Fullblood bulls & heifers for your appraisal. Being Manitoba’s Largest Simmental Bull & Female Sale is something we take seriously & want you, our customer to walk away happy with your new purchases. The cattle are only as good the people who breed them. Our bulls are bred to be Thick, Hairy, Rugged Beef Bulls. You will find a vast array to choose; from heifer bulls to power cow bulls in Red, Black & Fullblood divisions. Keep in mind the large number of Fullblood bulls on offer, they cross so well on the red & black cattle. With 70 heifers on offer, there will be some in everyone’s range & for everyone’s taste. Rest assured these girls are of equal calibre of what stays at the farm. Plain & simple, we have to try & control our numbers. Herd Health and Fertility: All sale cattle have been treated twice with Ivomec are on the Pfizer Gold Program: Bovi-Shield Gold 5, One Shot & Ultrabac7/Somubac. All sale cattle were vaccinated for foot rot with Fusogard. All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested & palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale. No internet bidding In our opinion, there are just too many variables out of our control that could cause online bidders to miss the opportunity of owning their chosen animals. Rendezvous Farms won’t let that happen to you at our sale.

Sales Management Comments I always have a lot of admiration for the work ethics of the Maguet Families. They fully understand that to have any chance of success in the agriculture profession, hard work is not an optional choice. I believe with the young new family members now present, that a further drive has increased. In that, of course there are also family sacrifices that are made. Homo Polled After losing the IPU Red Caesar 11U bull after only two calf crops, we ended up keeping a son of his, just hoping that he would do what his father did, which was being our main heifer bull. After the first five calves were born, we knew that Caesar 584 would become a permanent fixture at the ranch. A good herd bull always breeds better than himself, point in case is with this Caesar line. Every generation seems to impress us more and more. The calves from Caesar 584 are small at birth, but turn into curve bending growth machines. Caesar is now deceased & this will be his last progeny to sell.

Homo Polled. We’re quite excited with Red Express! He was the lead off bull at Herdmasters 2013. Doug Zimmer had nothing but praise for his mother, especially since Red Express was her first calf. Express was truly one of the thickest, deepest bodied bulls we saw in the spring of 2013. This stout made bull is an impressive individual, one of the only yearling bulls we’ve used that never lost any condition during breeding season. His super dark red color is something he passes on to his progeny as well. The combination of length, thickness & middle to this herd sire is something that blends nicely. His calves are born small & easy, they then keep growing & performing well. We believe Red Express will have a bright future here at RF. Look over his sons & daughters, you will like them too!

Mothered by a black Powerline first calf daughter, Terry & Debbie Skoretz felt he would calve well & also give the kind of performance we were looking for from our heifers. Not one single calf of his was assisted at birth & man do they look good a year later. Red Knight travels like a hovercraft, smooth & steady. His muscle expression is impressive & he is developing into a well-balanced, smooth made herdsire. Red Knights has really stepped up to the plate and has surpassed all our expectations in every domain. Perhaps our most ‘undiscovered’ herdsire we use.

The quest for a heifer bull can be a challenging one at times, never being 100% certain until the calves are born. However, with Red Rambo, you could bet the farm on him, he is a heifer bull!! And a damn good one too! We really took a liking to this bull when we toured the Fornwald pen on a cold -35 morning out in Lampman, SK. Rambo is a paternal brother to the ever popular KWA FLYF Red Mountain bull going back to some solid IPU breeding on the top & bottom sides. Rambo has been a stellar heifer bull, calving like a dream. His sons are essentially carbon copies of their father, they are smooth made, have small heads, clean front ends & excellent confirmation. When you see his sons you’ll like them too.

Homo Polled & Homo Black. A direct son from the record setting $190,000 Captain Morgan bull. Glen & Kevin Maxwell had big time praise for these Morgan cattle, especially commenting on their docility. Western Star was our pick of their black bulls in 2015 & was their 2nd high seller. I couldn’t get over the length of this bull. He was a foot longer than any other bull around and weighed 1620 at 14 months. This goes Photo taken June 23/19 back to the old adage: Length = pounds. Solid footed & light on his feet, Western Star has seen heavy service in our black program. When his calves were being born, Gerry felt they were the nicest, most uniform calves he would process at 2 days of age. They were sooo long & correct. Flash forward 13 months & these calves are very impressive yearlings. Be sure to check them out. They will add a lot to anyone’s program.

Mandako turned out to be the high selling red of the day commanding $40,000 but he was worth every penny. Sired by the elite Godfather bull & mothered by a tremendous female that Doug Zimmer raved about, the pedigree in Mandako is bullet proof. We feel that Mandako’s progeny will be the herd building type.

HOMO POLLED. The new red bull who’s caused quite a stir here. Alaska has been a fan favourite from everyone who’s toured the herdbull group. This soggy, hairy meat machine is always in good shape & poses perfectly every time he stops. With a temperament that’s second to none & the most perfect feet you will find, Alaska just seems to bring it all together. A very masculine, yet moderate made bull. He calves like a dream but once those calves hit the ground they just keep growing. Alaska is producing the real curve bender kind of cattle we all seek in this day of age. We honestly can’t say enough good things about him. A large amount of his daughters will sell this year however don’t expect the same volume next year since we will most likely be retaining all his daughters in 2020, that’s how much we think of this bull.

Without a doubt one of the most talked about bulls to sell in the spring of 2016. Charles was bred by the wonderful people at Lockhart Valley Simmentals, Rimbey, AB. Lee, Tina & Hanna Robson toured us around their farm & made sure to show us Photo taken July 12/19 the dam of this great bull. After only a few minutes of viewing both “mother & son”, my wife Rachelle & I knew that we had to own Charles, there was no other alternative. We also knew there would be some very strong competition in doing so. When the dust settled, we managed to purchase him outright for a ground breaking $75,000! We felt we needed to add this powerful, perfectly made, genetically unique individual to our herdbull roster for our customers as we know too well that trying to find that ideal individual in the Fullblood business is a very, very tough job. In all honesty, I’ve never been so excited about a bull as the day we saw Charles & that feeling has continued every single day. His first calf crop was embraced by both Purebred and Commercial breeders with his sons averaging $10,616. The best thing we’ve ever done was use Charles in our program. We truly believe the best thing you can do is to use his sons.

As our black program has grown over the years the need to add a black calving ease heifer bull to our roster also became apparent thus led us to the purchase of LFE 3173C (Direct Drive). This long bodied, mellow made, deep sided herdbull was the ideal candidate as he displayed great calving ease characteristics with his small head, smooth shoulders & clean lines. Born with a small Photo taken September 19/19 birth weight to a fantastic young female we really liked his curve bending abilities since he was one of the heavier long yearlings in the black offering at LFE that year. Direct Drive’s calving ease abilities did not disappoint, his calves come small and quick but get up & suck fast just the way we like it. Outcross pedigree to boot, we look forward to more of our bred heifers carrying Direct Drive’s service in the future.

Clipper caught our eye when touring the Maxwell bull pen in 2016 & was our pick of their Fullblood group. His beautiful rich color along with great length of body & smooth shoulders made him hard to pass up. What sealed the deal was viewing his dam, NUG Lace 830U. What an impressive mother cow, she’s the ideal type we strive to produce. With a lot of maternal power on the bottom pedigree with bulls like Harrach & Medallion, we felt Clipper would be a stellar addition to our herd. Clipper has a very docile disposition & calves very easily, also proving that he can produce both top bulls & females with his progeny being some of our sale features in both classes.

Commander was our pick of the Black Gold bulls in the well respected Next Generation Sale in Lloydminster in March of 18. He was also their second high selling bull that day. Randy & Vanessa Noble showed me both the sire & dam of this impressive young bull which really helped me cement the idea of adding him to our herdbull roster. He weighed over 1600lbs on sale day at 13 months of age. His superior depth & overall thickness is transferred over to his calves as well. Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve been very pleased with how well he has bred, calved & in the development of both male & female offspring. Commander saw heavy service this year & we feel will really complement the Charles line in the Fullblood program.

I was absolutely floored when looking up this bull & realizing he’s born Feb 28. Let me commend him for growing out & developing at a very rapid & dramatic pace. We really wish we had a few more calf crops from the Alaska bull to come yet but unfortunately this is his last. This particular bull has a distinctive look to him yet carries his sire’s signature dark red/black pigment & thick hair coat. We suspect that 206G will mature to be a bit bigger than his sire, most likely with the Hummer influence kicking in on the bottom side. An outcross pedigree for most programs be it commercial or purebred. A full brother was selected last year by Mathew & Jewel Kulbacki of Eden, MB. Another top pick among cattlemen when it comes to the Charles sire group. A dark cherry red goggle eyed bull who is easy to pick out. I don’t think there’s another sire group that comes close to the extra large testicle development these guys have. Wilf Davis was here a day after we weaned & was writing down this guy’s number as soon as we drove into the pen. One has to appreciate the cows that send brothers year after year & see how consistent they all are. A full brother last year was the lead off bull who sold for $20,000 to Little Willow Creek Ranches, Frenchman Butte, SK. There’s a bit of a story to this lad. Unfortunately we lost his dam on pasture in mid June. Therefore 100G went without a mother & milk all summer, so it obviously affected his weaning weight but all things considered through no fault of his own, he’s picked up steam since.
