Welcome to our 11th Annual Bull Sale! Time sure flies by it is hard to write “2020”. Cow numbers are going down and beef consumption is moving up - a perfect scenario.

We are pleased to have Matt and Mike Jahnke from Log Valley Ranch join us this year with 6 good bulls. The dearest thing this Hereford industry needs is young, enthusiastic breeders.

Marilyn and I are very pleased to have Carl and Robin and their families so involved in purebred Herefords; the next generation seems keen.

Bulls can be viewed on DLMS prior to the sale and DLMS will be here on sale day. Randy has the prime rib ordered and we would love to feed you dinner.

Our bulls are presented as natural as possible. Their feet aren’t trimmed and they’ve been worked on foot and with horses. They’re semen tested and measured by Dr. Tom Schimdt. We will deliver them free for 300 miles.

Welcome to our 11th Annual Bull Sale! We are proud to be one of the consigners this year to make up a sale that will sell over 80 quality Hereford bulls in one place from good ranching families.

We have 40 bulls on offer this year that spent the summer living on 200 acres of grass/alfalfa around home. We believe in naturally growing our bulls out so they last you decades. Once winter came, they continued to walk to water at a creek & have been raised on hay & oats. Our program is based on breeding to be good, not feeding to look good.

We were able to get some fencing done at the end of November, thankful for some time to catch up! Since December 1st the bulls have been worked with regularly through the chute & have moved into a new large grass pen along our lane way - easy to tour!

This year, over half of our bulls are out of our home raised herd sires; proof that our program is working the way we have dreamed. This year is also a first for us as we will be offering 4 bred, purebred heifers in the sale.

Please feel free to call & come by the ranch to take a look at these ladies, as well as the bulls, & the cow herd isn’t far away either! Along with the purebred females we will have a couple pens of straight Hereford heifers on offer too.

Our bulls come with feet that have never been touched & they’re ready to go to work. In fact, every bull on offer from us has been tested free of any breed abnormalities via the Canadian Hereford Association, the letters behind their names.

We understand everyone gets busy - if you are unable to attend the sale, give us a call & we can help find a bull that will work in your program. Welcome to our family’s 2020 bull sale. We would like to thank every person who has supported our sale in any way, visiting the farm, buying bulls, heifers, or attending the sale is truly appreciated. We truly enjoy visiting your ranches, helping at your branding, and seeing how our bulls are performing for you.

We are offering 12 bulls in the sale. They are 7 polled and 5 horned bulls that we are confident will work well for our customers. The bulls are full of hair and middle, their feet look great (no feet are trimmed) and are all traveling very sound. The bulls have been brought up slowly and never pushed. As always, we take pride in raising bulls that are safe and quiet for your family to work with, this group is no exception. All bulls will be semen checked prior to sale day.

In early fall 2018, Randy leased 10 beautiful, functional cows from his brother Marty, who was having a dry year, we were so pleased with the quality of the pairs that we purchased the calves that came on those cows. 6 of the polled bulls that we are offering were among those calves. We are confident that these bulls will work for our customers and hope that our friends and family to the south are getting the moisture that they need. 2 of the horned bulls came in dam out of the Corbiell dispersal sale, their mothers have been a very welcome addition to our herd.

2019 -2020 has been another great year for our family. We have been busy building our barn and continuing to expand the ranch. Randy continues to build custom fence, coach hockey, and always keep very busy with a smile on his face, for that we thank him.

Robin enjoys running with kids, working cattle on her 3 super Hays Bros. horses (her buckskin named Leroy is her favorite) working for NSRBC and her photography (thanks to our extremely supportive community).

All 3 kids are active in the Manitou lake 4-H club, Ramsay and Rawley are playing great hockey and Layla has found her passion in rock climbing and all things Ninja.

In the fall of 2019, we were honored to expand our commercial cow herd with the purchase of a large group of primarily red white-faced cows from Carlrams Ranching, we thank Mom and Dad for this opportunity.

After weaning, our bulls are carried through the winter on self feed grass hay and supplemented with a pellet ration. They spent all summer on grass and came in from pasture in early September to be pail fed a 13% protein pellet with self feed grass hay.

They have been vaccinated and ivomeced and have free choice mineral. They will be semen tested prior to the sale. They can be kept free of charge until April 1st when we start to deliver. All bulls returning to the farm must be insured.
