2nd Annual Bull Sale Tuesday, March 27, 2018 - 1:00 pm Dryland Cattle Trading Corp - Veteran, AB
Welcome To our Second Annual Poplar Bluff Stock Farm/Twin Anchor Charolais Bull Sale!
Welcome to our Second Annual Bull Sale. We are pleased to partner with the Weeks family of Twin Anchor Charolais and the staff at Dryland Cattle Trading Corp again this year. Thank you to everyone who came out last year. We were overwhelmed by the response from a new crowd and as always, humbled that long time customers made the drive to support us.
Taylor Family The Taylor Family - Box 55, Chauvin, AB T0B 0V0 Phone: 780-858-2435 - John’s Cell: 780-806-3395 Email: jktaylor@telusplanet.net
Every year, as we watch the bulls grow and mature, we say to ourselves, “this is our best pen yet” and this group is no exception! The bulls are stout, good haired and have great feet and legs to walk your pastures. We did another cull last spring and weeded out a couple with attitudes that we didn’t like and it shows in the bulls that made the cut. As always, our bulls are virgin 2 year olds. Nothing has been offered for sale off the farm, and we’ve brought them along gently with their longevity in mind. We still hand feed the bulls so they’re used to people walking through them. Thanks to Darren Daniel and Dale Gibb for helping haul bulls to and from the sales for several years now. You guys save us a bunch of miles and we really appreciate it! Our farm is located north of Chauvin. We welcome you to view the bulls prior to the sale. It is a bit of a drive for anyone “down south”, so the bulls will be moved to Dryland a couple of days before the sale for viewing there. We know it’s a busy time of year for everyone and the weather doesn’t always cooperate, so you will have the option to bid online – please register a couple of days ahead of sale day, or to bid on the phone with any of the sale day numbers listed.
Harold and Georgina Taylor
Please plan to join us for lunch at noon on sale day. See you in Veteran on March 27! John & Kirsten, Brad, Sammi & Cooper, Garrett & Amanda

Delivery – Any bulls picked up on sale day will be eligible for a $100 sale credit. If you aren’t set up to take your bull, and would like him delivered closer to breeding season, we’d prefer if you put insurance on before he goes back to the farm. We take every care with the bulls that do go back home, but going to town and then home again resets the pecking order and sometimes they get hurt while working all of that out. Karen Bouchard of Stockmens Insurance will be in attendance on sale day to assist you. Buyers must take delivery of their bulls by May 1, 2018. Delivery of bulls is available and by delivery, we don’t mean to “central points”. If you’re taking the time to buy our bulls, we’d like to return the interest and deliver to your farm or ranch.
Online Bidding:
Sale can be viewed online at drylandcattle.com by signing into Ringmaster. If you wish to register for online bidding, please click on the Online Auction tab at the top of the Dryland Cattle Trading homepage. You must register for the Online Sale Broadcast first, and then you will enter your Username and Password, and click on the Login to Bid Online tab. We suggest registering a day or two in advance to be sure that you’re approved and able to bid at the time the sale begins. Please contact Kurt Cole at 403-575-5388 if you have any questions when setting up your online bidding profile.

Blast-Off is a Roundup son out of a Landmark cow. We purchased him in 2015 because we really liked his muscle pattern and temperament. He has brought the frame size down when used on larger cows and so far, has thrown only polled calves. His disposition is second to none.

“Bullet” is a bull that we selected at Alta Pride Charolais as a heifer bull. Unfortunately, we lost him after only one breeding season. The calves he left us with are good haired, good footed and easy going. We kept a number of the heifers and as they are getting closer to calving, they look to have picture perfect udders.

The Weeks Family - Box 372 Castor, AB T0C 0X0 Brian’s Cell: 403-741-2287 Clifford’s Cell: 403-741-2626 Email: twinanchor26@gmail.com Welcome to our 2nd Annual Bull Sale. We are very excited for this sale, and proud of these bulls we have to offer. Thank you again to our sale partners, the Taylor family. It’s good to have made such great friends and partners. Also thank you to the Dryland staff for assisting with sale preparations and providing the facilities. The cattle market continues to be on a high this year and Char cross calves are in high demand. This pen of bulls we have on offer have come along really well. I am very excited about this set and I know they will go out and work well for you. They are stout, hairy and good footed. These bulls have been fed a premium ration. We worked with Hi Pro Feeds and Ramsay’s Stockman Center and came up with the best ration option, alongside our hay, to promote growth and longevity. The bulls have been pail fed and have great temperaments. Our herdsires have been used on our commercial cow operation as well as the purebred cows. All have proven to be easy calvers, with that extra punch for good weaning weights. The genetics we have built our herd with have been carefully picked and I think you will agree the quality shows in these bulls. I think this group of bulls has something to offer for everybody. Even if you don’t plan on buying, come out and check out our operation on sale day. If you have any questions or would like to view the bulls, we will be happy to help. Brian and Karissa Weeks
50 years ago Cliff’s dad was talked out of making an investment in some purebred Charolais animals and he lived to regret not making that purchase. Fast forward to today and now his son and grandson live that dream in his memory with no regrets, thanks to some great supporters at our bull sale last year. We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to serving you for many years to come. We are thrilled with this pen of bulls. They have been a delight to feed and watch grow. Quiet, growthy, athletic and with great coats of hair. There’s not a one in the group that we are not proud of. They have been pail feed a ration from Ramsay’s Stockman Center and we have been impressed with the palatability and growth that ration has provided. The whole family takes part in their feeding and care and so they have become comfortable with people around them, both young and old. In last year’s calf crop, Brian’s cows produced the bulk of the bull calves but we are excited about an impressive group of females we were able to add to our breeding program. These animals are not just our livelihood, they are our passion. They are what makes the bitter cold feedings, the middle of the night calving checks and the detailed record keeping all worth while. This sale is the culmination of a year of blood, sweat and tears, something a rancher gives without thought because it’s what he does, a bull sale is simply the icing on the cake! Please feel free to stop by the farm and check out the bulls before sale day, one of us would love to show them off and give you all those personal details that make them special in our eyes. They will be in Veteran a couple days early for those who want to see them there but please join us sale day for lunch and some good cattle conversation. Cliff and Debbie Weeks

This bull’s three year old dam is one of our favorite cows. Small framed, quiet and docile. She puts everything into her calf and then milks up a storm to keep him growing at full capacity. She produced one of our favorite bulls last year with an 80 lb. birth weight purchased by Craig Brown, so we exposed her to El Paso for some performance and power and she produced this explosive bull calf. Her 2018 calf is a beautiful heifer calf from Resistol, which will be a joy to add to our collection. 22E will be an excellent addition for those wanting to BEEF up their calf crop!

El Paso is a quarter French, red Kingston son. We absolutely love the performance capabilities of this bull. He was the second high selling yearling of the Pro-Char bulls in 2015 by a small margin and was our top pick all the way. He passes on his hair, muscling and big testicle measurements to his sons. And who can forget length of body! They just don’t come any longer than this bull. You will notice some added pounds to birth weight on his calves, but it’s because they are long. They calve easy on cows and are very vigorous at birth.

Rango has worked extremely well for us and was used mostly on our heifers. His calves are consistently low birth weight, with a good hair coat and good disposition.
