Welcome to the Ossim Livestock Complete Charolais Dispersal. As is the case in every dispersal and only in a dispersal, you have the opportunity to purchase the “untouchable” females out of a program. Kristen has assembled and bred an exceptional herd of both red and white Charolais females. These females have been selected to excel and raise herd bulls for the real world. As Kristen also works off the farm, these cows have had to do it on their own; they calve unassisted and the calves get up and suck, the way it is supposed to be.

The reality is that this herd is just coming into its own, with the majority of cows just coming into their prime, producing years. However, the demands from a career away from the farm requires full time attention. Turn Kristen’s loss of having to sell a cow herd that she loves and is truly proud of into your gain and add as many of these money making individuals as you can into your own program.

For those of you anticipating the need of Charolais bulls next spring, get ahead of the rush and buy these young bulls now. You can take them home and develop them in the manner you prefer and rest easy next spring, knowing that your bull battery is stocked. The spring Charolais bull sales have been strong, recently and will continue to get stronger. Welcome to the sale we never thought we would have, a complete dispersal of our herd. This has been a bittersweet decision but as with everything in life, things change, big decisions have to be made, some harder than others.

We may not have the same long history in the breed as some other breeders before us but we do believe we have spent a lot of time, effort and money into adding good functional females and bull power to our herd. Much of our focus over the years has been on the red factor genetics but in 2018, we decided to expand the white genetic side of the herd and purchased Wrangler Maximus 74E, who sired many of the 2019 calf crop. Most of the cow herd was exposed to our dark red herdsire Wrangler Nitro 109E for the 2020 calving season.

The 2019 calf crop is probably our best crop to date. We do not creep feed, so it’s up to the cows to do all of the work. This year proved to be a bit harder to secure enough good pasture land and as a result, we had to put some of them out on some pretty mediocre slough and bush grass.

We did lose a bit more body condition on the cows than I would have liked to see in the latter part of the grazing season but now with the calves weaned, the cows are on good tame grass and they are putting the weight back on. The cattle are on a full herd health program.

One thing you will notice throughout the catalogue is that we pride ourselves on the docility and temperament of our cattle. The most consistent remark we receive is how we have the quietest group of cattle people have ever had the pleasure of walking through. Those who have helped us work the cattle have expressed how they are the calmest group they have ever worked with. My cows come with a call and they really come with the shaking of a grain pail! Many of them enjoy their scratches and some of them even demand it but I wouldn’t want it any other way!

A huge thank you to our friends and family for all of your help and support over the years. We certainly needed it more than ever this year and we couldn’t have done it without you! A very special thank you to Cody McEwen for all that you do, I look forward to what life has in store for us next!

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the purebred industry, creating many great memories and friendships. To some people, these are just cattle but to me, this herd is my heart and soul. They have given me great pleasure, some grief and taught me some important life lessons. It’s not easy saying goodbye to something that I love and cherish so dearly but it’s time to close this chapter to make room for a new chapter in life. All of the hard work and dedication has left us with some pretty amazing, young cows that I believe will be high functioning females in their new herds. We do love our Maximus calves and this guy is no exception. His dam is always putting style and smoothness into her calves. We have waited a long time for this cow to raise a bull calf and she sure did not disappoint.

This cow has produced quite a few bulls that were top picks for our bull customers, over the years. She has raised some great heifers the last couple of years and we believe her 2019 calf is pretty awesome! This cow has been a no miss cow, having raised twins then breeding back to calve even earlier the following year. We were casually on the hunt for a dark red replacement sire for “Tuff ” and we weren’t in a rush as we wanted to find the “right” one. Well after touring the red bulls at Wranglers I was excited to tell Cody about this guy when I got home! Nitro was to breed our tan and red cows spring 2018, but with all the ice that spring he pulled some muscles and we had to pull him from breeding. Despite his muscle injury he was still able to get a few cows bred. We were so happy with his calves this spring that we decided to put him out to breed most of the cow herd this year. The heifer calves are all low birthweight and all calves were born unassisted. The calves grew like weeds and weaned very well despite being on some pretty mediocre pasture this year and no creep feed. I have no doubt that this will be a pretty amazing 2020 calf crop out of this guy!

He caught our eye when Wrangler Charolais brought him to the Alberta Select bull show in 2017. This bull is hairy, correct and just flat out awesome! We were looking for a great white herdsire to expand the white division of our herd and better yet, we could even use him on our heifers! He certainly has not disappointed with the calf crop we have this year. He has been everything we expected and more! As you can see his calves are big ribbed, easy fleshing, great growth and hairy as heck! He had an unfortunate pasture injury late summer 2018 and were not able to get him back to breeding soundness. We purchased “Tuff ” in the Sproule Charolais herd dispersal for $13,000. We bred a few heifers AI to Tuff this spring as we really missed seeing young stock in the pasture and pens this last year. It has been very hard to find another bull like him.

HRJ MISS RED ROSE 8S HRJ MS RED ROSE 11F CE BW WW YW MILK TM EPDs -1.7 1.3 28 54 27 41 We went to the bull sale thinking we were going to buy a different bull that year, but we came across a bull pen that were all sired by LAE Anchor, the highest selling bull in the 2014 Horseshoe E Charolais Bull Sale for $15,000 and we knew we had to buy one! “Chain,” as we call him, is a stylish, stout made bull that is built nice up through his front end. We had his first daughters milking this year and they all had beautiful udders and are such good momma cows!

The bulls out of Chain have been nice stout bulls with incredible smoothness and natural muscling ability. We used Chain on our heifers and he bred half the cows in 2018. He has been an easy calving bull with calves that are the most vigorous calves we have ever had, they are up and sucking in no time!

We have been super happy with the job he has done and the mark he has left on our herd.

Terms & Conditions

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder...no by-bidding will be permitted.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.

Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: As this is a dispersal sale, all cattle sell with no further guarantee. Any known defects will be announced before the cattle are sold.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements, cow herd is on a full herd health program.

Insurance: Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. does not assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

Rights & Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Phone, Wire, Mail Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.
