Nordal Limousin and Angus 2014 Bull Sale

On behalf of Cindy and the rest of my family, Welcome to our 2014 Sale.

It is interesting and exciting as we begin to watch 2014 unfold. As we also have a grain farm along with the cattle we are glued to the markets on both sides. From one of the best harvests we have had it is satisfying to see the land produce such a bountiful harvest. On the commodity side, it is beginning to be a challenge. The absolute bright spot is the current cattle prices. It is gratifying to see the returns being realized on both the feeder and finished market.

In 2013 Justin returned home full time after completing his Degree in Agriculture to take up farming full time. We purchased the Lonesome Dove T/S farm/ranch which will be his home. This also included a group of cows that increased our commercial numbers. Jessica enters her last year of Ag Business at the U of S and Christina expands her workings as an Interior Design Consultant.

As I have mentioned in our past sales, with our commercial cows, this has allowed us to utilize the genetics from our herd sires to prove their ability from calving ease fertility growth and finally marketability as a saleable product as feeder harvested as finished cattle. Calving ease and carcass quality are important to us as well as all the other traits. As you look thru the book we have placed a great deal of emphasis on the calving ease low birth of our herd sires. Our goal is to be able to maintain good performance with the built in calving ease these bulls offer.

For those buyers unable to take their bulls home we will take the bulls back home and maintain them until spring We would like the bulls moved out in mid April if possible but realize other arrangements may be necessary to accomodate your new purchases. Let’s hope spring 2014 does not stay until summer 2014 like last year.

Welcome to the 2014 annual Nordal Bull Sale. Each year this sale features an offering of two year old bulls....designed and set aside for this event.

At no other sale, can one select rugged two year olds from two different breeds; Continental being the Limousin and British, Red and Black Angus.

This breeding combination is an ideal fit for the livestock industry. Through Limousin you get the performance and muscling influence, while Angus will refresh your program with calving ease, marbling and most importantly, add an increased factor of fertility and maternal value, necessary to stay in business.

A great stockman once told me, that you should buy bulls from a seed stock producer who feeds his own steers, as he selects herd sires that produce easy feeding, high yielding results. This scenario holds true for Rob Garner. The Nordal operation encompasses a very large; two breed herd of purebred cattle, in addition to a large commercial cow/calf herd; feeding out and marketing this production for over the past few decades. Robbie knows what it takes for increased profit in a beef cowherd and applies his experience in producing bulls for the livestock industry.

Plan to be with us February 20th for the Nordal Bull Sale. Rarely can you find a set of virgin twos with fresh genetics ready to cover a lot of cows. We are all aware of the market’s strength and we’ve only just begun. With salvage prices at new highs, there’s never been a better time to put new young bulls into you program, rather than waiting for a May semen test failure and disappointment.

If you are unable to attend on sale day or would like to discuss anything about the bulls, give us a call of talk to any one of our sale staff.

All bulls will have passed a satisfactory semen test prior to sale time and are fully guaranteed.

Livestock Insurance will be available sale day.

Delivery We will assist with delivery where ever possible.

The bulls may be returned to the farm until arrangements can be made. We highly recommend insurance be placed on any bulls returning to the farm.

If we deliver, it will be at our timing to co-ordinate. As we also farm a sizeable amount of grain land, please advise us as to when you begin your breeding so we may schedule an appropriate delivery time.

Board Nordal will keep the bulls for you until May 1, 2014 or until required; buyer will then be responsible for pickup.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in ttendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Limousin and Angus associations.

A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Phone, Mail, Wire Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance: Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.

He was a top seller that has went on to an impressive show career topping off with winning Supreme at Agribition. We own a semen interest in him and look forward to adding his muscle and volume in our Red Angus.

Greenwood Accelerator Reserve Grand Champion Bull Lloydminster Stockade Round-Up 2013 We seen Accelerator at the fall shows and were impressed with his muscle shape and extra thickness. After seeing his full sisters and their production capabilities we decided he would be a good fit in our Black Angus herd.

TMCK Westmoreland Westmoreland came to us after being the Supreme Champion and record high seller at the Ohio Beef Expo. He is a Duece son that is doing an impressive job of breeding. He is sound structured great disposition and is one of the easiest bulls to maintain we own. We have a large group of progeny born from him in 2013.
