Happy New Year and Hello from MJT, I hope everyone is enjoying the upswing in cattle industry. We have heard from many they can feel the optimism in the air, and for us it has put the fun back in what we love to do. Whether out in the corrals working cattle, moving cows to the next piece of corn, or spending a little time with the grandkids, there is much to be thankful for.

We moved our calving season for the main herd back to late April through May last year and calved 150 heifers on pasture with not one night check or frozen ear, which was wonderful.

Calving difficulty was almost none. In some respects, it seems the further we get from “Managingâ€? these cattle the better they do. There is no doubt, nature is a powerful force and a good teacher‌ we just need to get out of the way sometimes.

That said, old habits die hard, and Mick is still playing with a small herd calving in January. I think Grandpa likes “playingâ€? with this herd like it was a big toy. With a little more time available now that Kurt and Shannon are back on the farm, and a change in cattle management, he can do some recreating in his favorite place‌ the Barn! He has really enjoyed working together with the Grandkids on the group of show cattle, and they love every minute of it.

I am sure that many of you are wondering what we are doing since we have continued with our purebreds. We have thought about a number of different ways to present our Bulls. We hope that what we have come up with works with how you like to buy bulls!

The official sale date for 2015 is February 14th. Our traditional second Saturday of February has never let us down in 21 years! We are also sticking with two other things that have worked well for us. The internet auction service of LiveAuction.tv for online bidding and Auctioneer Chris Poly who will make quick work of closing out the sale. We will be selling 20 two year old Angus bulls and 5 yearling Angus bulls. The sale obviously has lower quantity but we feel is as strong in quality as ever. The Bulls are heavier muscled and deeper than ever with sire groups by our walking herd sires Sizzler, Touchdown, Kodiak and Upward. I am certain that you will not be disappointed.
