Lone Pine Event

Page 1

Welcome To The Lone Pine Welcome to the 3rd annual Lone Pine Cattle Production Sale. We are very excited about the sale offering this year, considering the success Lone Pine cattle and their progeny have had in the show ring recently! Lone Pine has some exceptional young cattle for offer again this year, with youth and show ring appeal in mind. We have made a few changes to the annual sale this year.

First, we changed the sale date to follow Agribition. We are looking forward to exhibiting the cattle prior to the sale. In fact, 14 of the sale animals will be at Agribition!

Originally, we had anticipated on offering more cattle but as Dawn and I are expecting our second child at the end of November, the decision was made to keep the offering smaller and more manageable.

We also decided to conduct this year’s sale online, using Live Auction TV as the online auction company. Like all online auctions, you will have several days to bid on the sale cattle. The sale begins December 7 and begins to close December 12 around 2 p.m. Lots will sell in order and

approximately five minutes apart. In the event of a bid being made within the last few minutes of the sale, the Lot’s timer will reset for 30 seconds until all bidders have completed their revised bids.

What hasn‘t changed this year is we are offering heifer calves from our top end, a few of our best bull calves, a few feature cows and strong bred females. This year the sale is mostly polled Herefords but we have dug into our horned Hereford program and are offering four animals from this part of our herd.

We would like to invite you to the farm on December 12. The sale cattle will be on display. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or send an email. Rob O’Connor

Our Customers’ Success! I have always felt the true measure of a seed stock producer is the results our clients have in the show ring and the success of Lone Pine progeny.

My first experience with this was in 1995 when a cow name Covergirl, who I sold in 1993 as a calf, was named Grand Champion Female at the Toronto Royal Winter Fair.

Recent success of Lone Pine cattle and our clients:

Quigley

Alison

2010 Toronto Royal Winter Fair Grand Champion Bull. His Dam “Blanche 319U” was sold in our 2008 Production sale.

Utopia - 2010 Back to Basics high seller for Peter and Carol Kirby of Kirby Polled Herefords. Utopia’s dam “Tanya 113N” was purchased from Lone Pine Cattle as a bred heifer.

2010 Autumn Alliance Sale. Medonte Highlands purchased Alison in our 2008 production sale. She was resold in 2010 with her heifer calf at side for $6600, nearly tripling the original sale price. Wally Pugh exhibited her full sister at the Toronto Royal Winter Fair.

Sybil

Whiskey Lane Livestock purchased Sybil in the 2008 production sale. They expect her first calf to be their 2011 lead show heifer.

Maiden - 2010 Square D sale feature and high selling bred female for $5000 to Rob Flack. Maiden was purchased in dam through our 2008 Production sale.
