Welcome to our 3rd Annual Impact Bull and Female Sale. On behalf of me and my wife (Shauna), and our three boys (Dawson, Carson, and Connor) I would like to thank you for taking interest in our program.

It is finally gratifying to see the shift in the cattle market and the optimism that it brings to the cattle industry. Hopefully the market can remain strong for the next few years, so that cattle men can finally get their head above water and start making some money that we once did in this fine industry.

We are quite proud of our offering this year. It will be our last group of Timeline sons and son's of some of the best red angus herdsires the breed has to offer.It is a consistent group that haven't been pushed.These bulls should work for the long haul; as proof, Timeline himself is still breeding fine at 7 yrs of age. From the desk at T Bar… The “impact” of supply and demand for beef cattle has made a huge one-eighty in a short six months. No doubt each and every livestock producer is feeling quite a bit warmer calving cows through the last months of high wind chills and low temperatures. For those who have weathered the storm of the past seven years, it is your turn to reap the rewards of perseverance.

2011 marks the third anniversary of “Impact”. These three young breeders have stayed the storm, and through it, improved and upgraded their programs, providing you with the opportunity to select from fresh genetics in their respective breeds. Both breeds, Angus and Charolais are a fit, as the “silver feeders and tans” are rapidly becoming the most soughtafter commodity in the beef industry … with demand exceeding supply in huge proportions.

Whether you are looking for maternal strength, carcass value or big powerful calves at weaning, the bulls offered in this sale will fit any program and any budget. Jason, Randy and Mike along with their families are committed to producing a better product and their first concern is their customer’s bottom line. Some of the freshest and newest Angus genetics are offered in this sale through the bulls and the elite group of open females selling.

The most common question I have been asked this spring, is, “how good and how long will this up market last”? My answer is simply this … when we stop killing cows and replacements and start rebuilding, the industry will have to run hard for nearly a decade to catch up, simply because population keeps reproducing, at least the last time I checked. Therefore, in order to receive a premium for your program, one must use premium sires, since they are over fifty percent of the program. Remember this … there is no substitute for quality and sympathy is only found in the dictionary.

Example: A bull who will add 30 lbs. to the weaning weight of each of his calves, mated to 25 cows per year for 4 years, and you sell his calves for $1.00 per lb.

30 lbs X 25 cows = 750 X 4 years = 3000 X $1.00 per lb. = $3,000.00 This bull is worth $3,000.00 more than the average bull who will keep your weaning weights the same. Take this formula and put your own figures in and see what you can afford to pay. This equation does not take into consideration the increase in value due to calving ease, higher quality replacement heifers, yearling growth, feedlot gain and improved carcass quality.

Animal Nutrition Program for Triple L Angus and J&S Cattle Co: Blair's, in partnership with Nutrena, are pleased to provide you with the details of the bull development program for Triple L Angus and J&S Cattle Co. While the bulls were each managed at their respective herds, the bull development program was similar for each group. To begin the process, Blair's completed a detailed forage analysis on all of the forages (hay and silage) to be fed to the bulls. After the analysis, we developed the bull ration to complement the forages provided for the bulls.

Bull Development Program: Each group of bulls was weaned in early September, and put on a diet of a high fiber pellet (Built in Roughage of BIR Pellet) with the majority of their diet, *0% plus, coming from the forage side of their diet. Towards the end of October 2010, the bulls were transitioned to the Nutrebeef Bull Developer Pellet. As they we transitioned on the Nutrebeef Bull Developer Pellet, we kept the pellets at 1.0% of their body weight. As the total ration increased as the bulls grew, it is important to keep in mind that at any given time, 70-75% of the bull's ration at their peak still came from the forage side of the diet. With the Nutrebeef Bull Developer Pellet being 30% or less in their diet, the bulls you will see on sale day have developed excellent muscle shape and have deposited only trace amounts of external fat. The Nutrebeef Bull Developer Pellet is specifically designed to support the nutritional requirements of young, growing bulls. The benefits of the Nutrebeef Bull Developer Pellet are the following: (1) It is a 100% whole grain pellet with no screening products in the pellet. (2) The pellet provides high protein and bypass protein for lean muscle development along with high fiber to ensure high rumen digestibility and efficient gain. (3) The pellet aksi contains specifically balanced vitamins and minerals to complement the high roughage diet that the bulls have been fed with specific attention to vitamin and mineral levels required to support muscle, bone and testicular development. (4) The energy source is specifically balanced with protein levels to ensure maximum safety and longevity for these young bulls. We are confident that the development program for these bulls will provide for their future growth, development and longevity. Most importantly, you can buy these bulls with the confidence that Randy and Jason have made sound nutritional decisions to develop these bulls for your consideration today.

After the Sale: It is important to protect the long term genetic value of the yearling bull you are purchasing. Keep in mind, a lot is expected of yearling bulls – they are growing bone and muscle and developing reproductively. When you turn your yearling bull out with the females for breeding, it is important to balance off the terrain he is expected to perform in and the total number of females he is expected to breed. While on pasture we recommend that your bull and females have access to a good quality free choice mineral at all times. finally, we would encourage that depending on your calving timeframe, he be removed from the pasture a maximum of 90-100 days after exposure and be put back onto a high quality forage diet with some grain for his continued growth and development. Once your bull has reached maturity (i.e. generally 3 years of age), putting grain in his diet should no longer be a requirement as long as he has access to good quality forages and has access to a quality mineral throughout the year. This sire has done a lot of things right for my herd. He is moderate in frame and very thick and deep. At 7 years of age his feet BW WW YW MM TM are still perfect and he is very free moving and athletic. His temperament is amazing.

2.5 28 78 9 23 He is a very consistent sire, as his calves are always close to that 85-90 birth weight and come out unassisted. There is no need for sleepless nights when using one of his sons. His daughters are easy flashing, good milking girls that are making tremendous brood cows. Timeline will add pounds to your calves!

This cow is quite possibly the best black cow on the farm: 81 lbs 4.9 48 81 19 42 perfect uddered, clean fronted, a pleasure to look at, and a direct Leachman Right Time daughter to boot. Her sire was shown by us last fall and the calves are all thick and very stylish. This calf is tie broke and could easily go on the road this fall.

Throttle has had as many admirers as any bull in North America. He has been Grand Champion Red Angus of both the Futurity BW WW YW MM TM and Open shows at the World Angus Forum in Calgary. As well, he was Grand 1.5 31 61 10 25 Champion Red Angus Bull at Farm Fair in 2009 and a top ten finalist at the RBC Supreme at Agribition.
