Welcome to the Hollinger Land & Cattle Bull & Female Sale 2018 was certainly not without some difficult challenges. Our family went through a very devastating time, with the loss of the youngest member of our family, Teagen Hollinger, on December 25, 2018. It is at times like that where you come to realize that the support of family and friends runs very deep. We certainly thank everyone for all of your love and support!

This year marks our seventh annual sale and each year we strive to improve the overall quality of our offering and we feel we have done that. This year’s group of bulls is deep in quality and whether you are looking for extra performance or sound moderation, we are confident you will find what you need.

We continue to work with Roger Reynolds, CSI Angus and our joint effort this year includes a group of embryo transfer bulls that deserve a good look. We plan to continue to expand on our embryo program as the proven genetics will offer you, our customers, the traits necessary to improve your bottom line.

Our heifer selection is once again directly from our replacement pen, ready to breed and go to work for you. The cow families are bred for udder quality, good feet and sound structure that will do you well going forward. As in previous years, we are pleased to be working with a group of local cattlemen that are offering pens of high quality commercial heifers. You will want to check them out, they will be as good as you will find this spring.

As a new year and new sale is upon us, it also brings with it a new addition to our sale. A select group of quality Red Angus bulls from Nu-Horizon Angus, Kieran, Deb and Kodie Doetzel. We look forward to this addition as, Kieran, Deb, and Kodie are excellent people to work with. As well, possibly one of the most exciting changes to our sale, is that it will now be a live cattle auction, with cattle running through a sale ring for your appraisal. Videos of the sale cattle will still be available prior to the sale online.

Welcome to the 7th anniversary of the Hollinger Land and Cattle Co., Bull and Female Sale on March 19th, at the ranch, Neudorf, Saskatchewan. Each year the Hollinger family presents some of the top herd sire prospects in the breed. Their large farming base is totally dedicated to agriculture. The cow herd has been built and based on their commercial customer requirements with a large cow operation.

Here is a bull we feel is exceptional in terms of his overall design. He is big middled, has a ton of muscle mass, is square in his hip structure and is extremely sound and fluent on the move. He is sired by the ever popular “GQ”, a bull who’s progeny are turning heads and making quite a statement south of the border. The GQ females that we have in production are second to none, beautiful udders, excellent temperament, as well as adding a degree of calving ease. A full sister to Maverick 253F was a sale feature in the 2018 Power and Perfection who sold for $15,000 to JLH Livestock. Both calves are the result of embryos purchased from Six Mile Angus and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of these embryos and look forward to seeing what the future holds for both of them.

If Performance Data is high on your priority list this is definitely a bull you’ll want to mark in your book. Only a mid February, which puts him in the middle of the age range in the pen, he was the heaviest bull of the entire offering when weighed in early January. Here is a bull that we think a lot of, he is nice fronted, deep sided, and has loads of muscle shape. He is out of an excellent first calf heifer that we showed very successfully as a heifer calf. She was undefeated in her class and claimed multiple division and reserve division championships. As well she was the Canadian Angus All star team, heifer calf champion in 2016, a title that is only given to an elite few each show season. If you are in need of a calving ease bull with an outcross pedigree, put a big star beside this guy, you will not be disappointed!

Hello Fellow Cattleman, On behalf of Nu-Horizon Angus we would like to welcome you to the 7th Annual Hollinger Land & Cattle Bull Sale.

We would like to thank the Hollinger’s for giving us the opportunity to be a part of their bull sale and consign our red bulls. We have gotten to know Chad and Trevor very well since we moved to Saskatchewan and we are thrilled that they invited us.

Our program strives to produce functional cattle that meet your needs. Even though there is only nine bulls in our offering, the quality is deep and worth the drive. Whether you’re looking for a bull to build your herd around or a heifer bull to cover your heifer pen, there is a bull for everybody. We take pride in developing our bulls to last as they have been targeted to gain on average 3.0+ lbs./day while being fed a rolled oats and a developer ration. In general, our bulls are stout featured, wide based and stand on sound, functional feet and legs that are built to last! Their feet have never been trimmed so what you see is what you get!

Our cow herd consists of 110 purebred Red and Black Angus cows and 70 Angus influenced commercials. In the winter they are fed a straight roughage diet that is supplemented with salt, loose minerals and promolas.

Udder quality and correct foot shape take priority as we want them to offer longevity!

8062 is extremely long bodied and sound. He is off of one of our favorite cows on the farm who has bulls serving in three commercial herds. Don’t miss out on this Mamma’s Boy son as he is a level, wide based bull who stands on a big circumference of bone. His maternal brother was the high seller two years ago to Jim Doud from Weyburn.
