Gilchrist Farms & Friends 7th Annual “IN IT TO WIN IT” Sale As we prepare to host the 7th Annual IN IT TO WIN IT Angus Production Sale, many different feelings cross my mind. We are very thankful for all the support we have received over the years from customers coast to coast and south of the border. We are ecstatic and proud to hear how those purchases have turned out and produced for their new owners. We are motivated by our customers’ successes to continue to offer genetics that thrive and continue to be prosperous year after year. And finally we are optimistic about the future of an industry that has been so rewarding to be a part of. We are the fourth generation to live and farm at Gilchrist Farms and while a lot of things have changed over the years, our commitment to doing the best we possibly can has never waivered. The sale name, IN IT TO WIN IT, is just that, if you want to achieve your goals you have to be committed to it, you need to be IN IT TO WIN IT. We would like to invite you to join us on October 6th at Gilchrist Farms to view an incredible set of cattle. These cattle have been selected for this sale from some of the most reputable breeders with high quality Angus genetics. If you have any questions or would like to stop in for a visit feel free to contact us at anytime. Brad, Kristie and Peyton Gilchrist Gilchrist Farms
From the Desk at T Bar... Every Thanksgiving weekend it’s a ritual to be in Lucknow, Ontario for the annual In It To Win It Sale. The fellow consignors involved have stepped out to offer the best they physically can. Yearly, Gilchrist Farms offers a solid core of females that are the cutting edge of today’s industry needs and demands. Not only being named Premier Breeder and Exhibitor numerous times at the famed Toronto Royal, this program carries a tradition of selling bulls annually that are widely accepted and proven. This year the offering is stacked, Powerchip’s influence is evident and proving to be all that was expected and more. Please study these GF cattle, this program is progressive and very active. Once you glance through the consignor list involved in the sale you automatically know quality is evident. Young pairs that are in the prime of their life, a bred heifer section that is mind boggling good and heifer calves that will see backdrop photos in the near future. An exciting offering that we encourage all to be involved in. In closing, we invite you to Gilchrist Farms for some great hospitality and fantastic Angus cattle. Plan ahead and feel free to come the day before and view this powerful offering. We at T Bar C have been doing business with all the programs involved for many years and are quite knowledgeable of the cattle on offer, so please don’t hesitate to call. Thanks again!

Gilchrist Farms
The Tinge legacy started in 2005 when HF Evening Tinge 57R topped the Watcha
dispersal selling for $20,000 as a two year old, with her son at side demanding $28,500. 57R of course was sold to Johnson Livestock of Peebles SK and since then, she has 63 recorded progeny in the CAA. These progeny have been sold across Canada and into the US where many have become outstanding donors themselves. Arguably the most famous of all the daughters is JL Evening Tinge 8001. Gilchrist Farms was fortunate enough to partner with Charlie Mackenzie and Johnson Livestock on her as a heifer calf. The following year she was successfully JL Evening Tinge 8001 crowned Ontario Show female of the year. It was on January16, 2010 when she calved for the first time, when the next chapter of this book would be written. GF Evening Tinge 1X was born and from day one she turned heads. A handful at first, this little firecracker had the look and mass that a young Angus breeder could only dream of. Later that summer she was shown at Rockton Worlds fair who was being GF Evening Tinge 1X judged by Barry Nowatzke. Tinge 1X caught his eye as well and he named her Grand Champion Female that day, as a heifer calf and 15 minutes later at the backdrop taking the photo he purchased her. After the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto that year, where Tinge 1X was named Reserve Grand Female Overall as a heifer calf, she was moved to her Reserve Grand Female Overall at The Royal new home in the USA where her banners kept rolling in and stacking up. She was Division Champion in Denver at the NWSS, then Champion Angus Female the following year at the American Royal with numerous other accomplishments in between. But the best part of the Tinge legacy Champion Angus Female at American Royal isn’t the female, but the next generation and again GF Evening Tinge 1X out bred herself by raising progeny that have demanded $20,000, $80,000 and even $120,000 and taking home banners from every major show across the US. GF Evening Tinge 81A is a full sister to GF Evening Tinge 1X and her story too is an exciting one with the book only in its infancy and a whole lifetime of stories to write about.

The Evening Tinge name is tried, tested and true. It doesn’t matter what you breed them to, they make great ones time and time again. GF Evening Tinge 81A was Junior Calf Champion when we showed her as a calf at the Toronto Royal Winter Fair and her first calf, GF Evening Tinge 81C, followed in her mother’s footsteps claiming the same title before selling privately to Harprey Angus. Her second calf was retained in the herd and is currently raising our top replacement female from the two-year-old pen. In 2017, she had her first bull calf who was Reserve Division at the RAWF and a sale feature selling in Alberta with Lazy MC Angus. Her greatest daughter may just be the one that stands beside her in 2018. This outstanding fertile female flushes well, breeds back and raises the kind we love to campaign year after year. Due to calve March 12, 2019 to Musgrave Intel.

Well due to a lack of hours in a day 715E did not find her way to the show barn, but is very deserving to be one that should have been wearing a leather halter. This heifer is massive in terms of volume and body dimension, extremely feminine and attractive through her front one third. She’s wide based and really good at the ground. Her dam was our pick of the 2015 Power of Perfection Sale at Agribition and hails from the famous MICH Annie’s Angel cow that has done so much for the Michelson’s. She has been a very productive, well uddered female for us and has a bright long future ahead of her in our program. A daughter sold last year through this very sale to the good herd of Glen Gables. We are very excited about her mating to 5T Power Chip. The quality of the progeny out of him have really impressed us and we think will compliment 715 nicely. AI bred on March 25, 2018 to 5T Power Chip. Due January 1, 2019.

A daughter of PVF Insight, a bull who undoubtedly combines performance with that extra phenotype better than any of his peers. This heifer is a prime example of just that. She is one that ticks a lot of boxes if you study her EPD profile. When you analyze this one in person she doesn’t disappoint, she is a soft made, easy fleshing female and will be a replica of her dam, who is a no miss cow that stems from one of the greatest families that was so successful for Scott Anderson at Mountain View Farm. She is bred to the popular son of Conneally Capitalist, Musgrave Stunner. AI bred to Musgrave 316 Stunner on May 20, 2018. Due February 27, 2019.

American Classic progeny are known for their style and power and Katy is no exception. Morgan purchased her dam from Steele Land and Livestock in Iowa as a yearling, she possesses a unique pedigree not often seen in Canada. She is exceptional in her make up with a beautiful front end and smooth shoulder. She also exhibits tremendous depth of body and is packaged in a nice moderate frame. Her breeding to PVF Insight should produce females that are eye-appealing and feminine along with bulls that are stout and powerful. AI bred to PVF Insight 0129 on May 14, 2018. Owned by Morgan MacIntyre.

Phyllis 105F
January 8, 2018
105F is the favourite of our 2018 Angus calf crop and we likely should be keeping her instead of selling her. She combines the best of Conversation, wide base, squared hipped, tremendous depth of body and bold rib shape with her dam’s outstanding maternal qualities. Phyllis is beautiful in her front 1/3, soft made, big middled and moves out smoothly. She is developing the same look as her maternal sister pictured below which sold to Enright Farms for $9,000 in 2015. Don’t miss her on sale day as she will make an excellent show prospect for next year along with a powerful front pasture cow. She is entered into the 2018 Royal Winter Fair.

Blackberry 10E
January 12, 2017
Blackberry 10E is a heifer with lots of capacity and length of body. She is vey docile and halter broke. The Blackberry family comes from Harron Farms. Her dam, Blackberry 3W is a hard working daughter of the popular B C Lookout who was known for producing females with muscle and depth. Her sire, Tour of Duty, was the number one sire of progeny registered by the AAA in 2017. He is known for making great daughters with lots of milk, great udders and high weaning weights. AI bred to S A V Ten Percent on April 10, 2018 (a calving ease son of AAR Ten X). Pasture exposed to our herd bull, Tambri Excel 5E (a stout son of S A V Resource) from April 30 to July 1, 2018. Black Angel is a sweet made heifer. Clean fronted with lots of depth and natural muscle. She is an April born heifer out of LLB Black Angel, which we purchased as a bred heifer. Her dam is a long bodied daughter of Remitall Reactor with a picture-perfect udder. Her sire, GF AMC 6C, is sired by Connealy Final Product out of a Bailey Acres Barbara cow. He was purchased by LLB for $18,500 for a half interest and has been producing well for them. She is halter broke. AI bred to Eathington Sub-Zero on April 22, 2018 (a bull that combines calving ease with growth. His calves are deep bodied, wide based and thick made. This should be an exciting mating.) Pasture exposed to our herd bull, Tambri Excel 5E (a stout son of S A V Resource) from April 30 to July 1, 2018. Examined safe, favourable to AI.

Sandy 1748
January 13, 2018
This January heifer is massive in the center part of her body with a good set of feet and legs. She is striking from the side and will command the judge’s attention as she enters the show ring. Sandy 1748 is part of the first ET calf crop of the 2015 Hoosier Beef Congress Supreme Champion. Maternal sibling embryos to 1748 commanded $4,800/embryo at the Donors on Ice Sale held in Iowa. We have a full sister and several maternal sisters to 1748 that look to be extremely competitive and we felt we needed to up the ante this year for the “In It To Win It Sale” by offering up full interest in 1748. Tie into these genetics as we think extremely highly of Sandy 1315 and look for her to lead our operation to a new level in the years to come!

Lady 2058 is out of one of my all-time favorite donors. Penny, as we call her, consistently stamps her progeny with the foot and bone we desire with a killer look from the side and plenty of width when you get in behind them. These cattle flat out produce once they enter production and we are excited to offer 2058 in this year’s event. Last year we sent a Style daughter up out of Penny who has campaigned very successfully and we expect nothing less from 2058. 1122 has proven herself in the half blood world as well, being the mother of our 2018 promotional sire, Drought Relief who we sold 1/3 interest for $15,000 for a $45,000 valuation and his full sister whom was Reserve Division at the National Western Stock show for David Smith and Boyert/Core where she was the second high seller at $30,000.

This powerful heifer is a top performer at Otter Creek Farms this year. She has exceptional bone, length for days, a deep rib and great feet. This Mercedes expresses the frame, flesh and bone that this cow family is known for. Her Dam was purchased by Otter Creek Farms in the 2016 Gilchrist In It to Win It Sale. Her half sister remains in the Gilchrist herd and is amongst their highest indexing cows for WW and YW. Her sire, First Impression, has produced some of the best Angus females in Canada today. We are confident this heifer will be a strong addition to your program.

Talk about royally bred! This heifer is a standout with striking feminine style, clean front, moderate frame and is she ever thick. She epitomizes the two legendary cow families from which she arises with S A V Blackcap May 4316 through Sensation on the top half and Evening Tinge 57R on the bottom. Her mother came to us through Rehorst Farms and Johnson Livestock, both refined Canadian producers who have produced champions and high sellers year after year. This heifer has been a highlight in our front field all season, and it will pain us to see her go. This is one not to be missed as she will enhance your show string or donor pen with great feminine characteristics and the pedigree to back it up.

Nice cow out of the heart of our herd. Lots of natural muscle shape, width of top and thickness front to back. She is the type of cow that can raise a beautiful heifer calf or a stout bull calf. Her dam came directly from Schaff Angus Valley as a heifer calf. This cow resembles her dam in looks and productivity. AI bred to OHL Check Book, two time Angus Champion at the Royal Winter Fair, for an early January calving, could be exciting. AI bred to OHL Check Book 0187C on March 26, 2017.
