Forden Fairview Farm These past couple years have been ones of constant change. However the cattle business remains the same with good cattle and great people. We have enjoyed a slower pace to life, with more time spent with family and the kids being able to spend more time around the farm. They have become a big help and may each have their own bulls in the sale next year. We appreciate all those who have supported us over the years and thank you for taking the time to peruse this year’s offering. We continue to offer all facets of the Simmental breed in one place with red, black, fullblood and Fleckvieh bulls. We have a number of new sire groups this year from Sysco, Eclipse, Reputation and Boulder that provide many options for your next herd bull. All bulls are DNA tested for color, dilutor and polled or are known by pedigree. This is an investment we make each year offering you more certainly in your breeding program. All bulls are Express Veriﬁed and treated with Pyramid FP 5 Presponse spring and fall and poured with Ivermectin and Boss. The bulls also receive double vaccination of fusogard for prevention of foot rot. We’d like to invite everyone to our Bull Pen Open House at the farm March 19 & 20 from 1-5 PM. This is a great opportunity to view the bulls in their environment as well as walk through our cow herd to see the maternal strength that comes along with these bulls. Payroll has been our go-to sire to for producing homo polled Fleckvieh cattle. He is long-bodied, heavy muscled, highly pigmented and nearly red to the ground. Payroll is a son of our Sering donor cow, whose daughters have raised many high selling bulls over the years. We knew this flush with Lexi was sure to produce stout, dark red, well pigment sons with all them being homo polled. Adding these bulls to a fullblood/fleckvieh breeding program will provide endless opportunity as polled Fleckvieh bulls are in high demand with the commercial cattleman. Advance is real long bodied, wide topped and powerful. He is the top ranking bull for yearling weight and second only to his brother for weaning weight. Weighing 1545 lbs in early February he is sure to impress on sale day. True to the Payroll sire group, he is big nutted and a true homo polled fleckvieh herdbull in the making.

Benchmark is long bodied and big nutted with large goggles and a little more frame under him. A couple of these brothers carry more birth weight, which is a result of their recip dam calving overdue. This can be common with embryos and is not indicative of the calf itself. The daughters off these bulls should be exceptional. With Pol Lynn, Sering and She Devil in the pedigree the maternal strength backing these bulls is loaded with good uddered, heavy milking females that know how to produce.

Reserve is the most pigmented of the four brothers. He was raised by our smallest cow and she did a great job on him. Since weaning he has really taken off and his growth rivals that of his brothers. Panther is a true Fleckvieh beef bull with tremendous width, muscle shape and hair. He is one of the highlights in the fleckvieh division and a definite pen favorite with visitors. Panther weaned off at 853 lbs (as a mid-Feb calf), and is the 3rd ranked bull for weaning weights. He is a natural calf of our Honey donor cow and one of the last Phantom sons to be offered. Strike Zone is a stocky, stout-made hairy beef bull with extra character and style. He is sired by Junior, a Guerrero son we raised and used on some heifers in 2020. His purebred dam is a nice uddered Payroll daughter with four generations of fleckvieh breeding. With his moderate birth weight and actual weaning weight of 869 lbs, one can expect Strike Zone to sire trouble free animals with performance.

When we purchased Boulder we knew we would put him together with Miss Marcus “Marcy” for a flush. Marcy is the dam of our Zeus bulls from a few years ago and also the dam of Kingpin who sold to Jensen Simmentals, Kansas for $25,000 in last year’s sale. The result turned out just as we hoped with these two bulls being dark red, heavy pigmented and polled. Boulder’s sons are moderate, stout, smooth made bulls. Slate is a thick made, wide topped bull and is hetero polled. Rocky is long bodied, heavy haired and homo polled. With the maternal strength of Marcy and the Ada 177C cow family, one can expect these brothers to sire some excellent replacement females.

SBV Repuatation 707F Hollywood is a homo polled son of the $165,000 SBV Reputation bull and one who has stood out for quite some time. He is a bull with tremendous length, muscle shape and overall herd bull presence. His dam is a good uddered Phantom daughter going back to our Starwest Pol Ariel cow (dam of Fairview Philosophy). She is a young cow quickly rising to the top as she has a beautiful Radium daughter in the herd and another daughter at her side this year from our high selling Evolution bull. Make sure you find this guy on sale day as he has a lot to offer.

Granite is a soft made bull with tons of rib shape, excellent foot structure and a heavy hair coat. His dam is a cow we bought from Eagle Ridge Simmentals who has put every son in the sale and every daughter into our herd. She simply gets it done time and time again. A brother is working at Triple T Diamond in Manitoba. With his added size and actual weaning weight of 878 lbs one can expect his calves to have the pay weight in the fall.

Fairview Grandprix 47D We have been building our fall calving program for a few years to offer bulls with more maturity and size, allowing them to cover more cows, more confidently. Once a cow enters our fall program that is where she stays and so do her daughters. Cannon’s dam is a cornerstone in our fall program and is an extremely deep ribbed power cow who maintains an excellent udder. Cannon is a real powerful Warrior son with a big deep quarter, extremely wide top and heavy muscled throughout. If you ask him, he will tell you about the scar he has on his sides from being stuck in a bale feeder overnight last spring. It’s one of those “guys guess what I did last night” stories! Joking aside, we are very pleased to offer Cannon as we know he will sire top end progeny that are right for the times.

Fairview Samantha 18F We have been producing these Fleckvieh hybrid bulls for a number of years now. We often cross our fleck bulls on our red and black cows but now have used Warrior on some fleck cows for the same result. This cross provides hybrid vigour as the fleckvieh and purebred bloodlines are unrelated. In addition we see added muscle, hair and overall performance and some chrome with the blaze face. Commander is a thick made bull with a big square hip and lots of length. His dam is a beautiful uddered Phantom daughter going back to our Sering donor cow. We are very hard on our fall calving cows as we only want a certain number of them, so have confidence these two bulls are top caliber bulls.

Sire Lots 106 & 107:

MRL Sysco 14D Chisel is a super stout, soggy beef bull packed full of meat and muscle. He has the hair, the nuts and the dark red color that we strive to produce. We were fortunate to acquire semen on his sire, MRL Sysco from Spring Lake Simmentals. If you build your herd around cow families like we do, this bull comes from a highly productive one. Our Erica (E) cow family is the largest in our herd and the foundation of our red program. Chisel’s dam is quickly proving herself as a top female in our herd with her first two calves and she has another real good Sysco bull calf at her side now. Chisel checks all the boxes for us in a herd bull search and you will drive many miles to find a bull this good.

Rattler is another deep ribbed, loose-made, dark red Sysco son. These Sysco bulls are easy to spot in the pen and quick to impress. Their power, muscle and overall design are the type of bull this business is built around. Rattler is one of the top ranked bulls in the pen for yearling weight and carries some impressive WW and YW EPDs. He is a 7/8 brother to Chisel with his dam again being from the Erica cow family. Erixon Grandprix 125A Torpedo is a really long bodied, stout made Sysco son from a good young Grand Prix daughter. It is very rewarding when your first calf heifers can produce bulls that stand alongside those from your main cow herd. Torpedo is backed by another cow family that has been very productive for us. The 22X cow has put numerous bulls through this sale and females into our herd and others. Torpedo has been a standout since birth for his muscle and growth and he weaned off at 830 lbs mid Sept. Another bull packed full of performance and maternal power.

Rhino is the last of our Sysco sons and comes from a direct daughter of the Erica cow. His dam is still producing at 13 years of age and has maintained a good udder all these years. Rhino is square hipped, heavy haired and soft made. He is the only dilutor bull in our offering so is best used on some red, buckskin or white cows. Expect Rhino to sire steers that push down the scale and long lasting, easy keeping females.

Crossroad Warrior 131F Warrior is the thickest, most powerful red bull we have used. He is very impressive in the flesh with his muscle mass and overall width. We are very pleased with his daughters as they are big bodied, easy keeping, and nice uddered females. Soldier is much like his sire with his wide top, deep quarter and is huge middled. His dam is a broody, nice uddered Cobra daughter going back to our Minny (M) cow family. An allaround herd bull here that will be easy to find on sale day.

Another big middled, soggy Warrior son that will be just over a year of age come sale day. Cross Bow was one of the top ranked bulls at weaning and carries some impressive performance EPDs. He is a ¾ brother to Soldier as his dam is from the Minny cow family. Warrior has proven himself to be an easy calver with unassisted, trouble free calves and average birth weights. Glory is a long spined, deep bodied, well balanced Epic son. Starting off at 75 lbs and weaning over 800 lbs, we were very impressed with the job his dam did on her first calf. She is a nice uddered Sleep Easy daughter going back to one of our top black cows, 79Y who had a perfect udder and strong foot all her years. We purchased a trio of black heifers from Northern Lights at their sale in 2020 and are very pleased with their first calves. Stealth is smooth made, deep quartered with nice head and overall eye appeal. He is free moving and walks on a good strong hoof. His sire is the calving ease specialist, Night Hawk so along with his low birth weight and CE & BW EPDs he would be suitable for the heifer pen. Every year as we put together the catalogue we consider which bulls could be a fit to use in our program. With his outcross pedigree and calving ease potential, Stealth is one we have been talking about and will certainly be following as he goes to his new home.

Fairview Interest 114G Magnitude is part of a new sire group for us. In 2020 we were looking for a powerful black bull to add to our program. We selected Eclipse from Rendezvous Farms for his huge middle, big hip, heavy hair coat and overall power. His dam is a beautiful uddered, deep bodied Mandako daughter so that sealed the deal. Magnitude is a long spined, heavy muscled bull that has a lot of potential. Combining the power, hair and maturity of Eclipse with our Karma cow family this bull will produce a solid set of calves and will put some chrome on them too.
