Welcome to our 19th Annual Bull Sale Welcome to the 19th Annual Bull Sale for Diamond C Ranch. We are excited to showcase this year’s offering and are excited about their potential for your program! In the last couple of years we have culled our females hard and as a result, some very good ones left our ranch. Our goal was to have only our elite ones to move forward with our program. The result has been a narrowing of the margins for all of our offspring. Consequently, we don’t need to rely on just one cow family to provide our number one indexing bulls – they are all producing at that potential. Diamond C Ranch bulls are available in all price ranges to meet our customer’s needs. We have worked hard to bring you a fantastic selection of bulls that are versatile to bring whatever your program needs. We have a powerful group of performance bulls, a great set of bulls that will help build your maternal side of your program and as well, always a great set of calving ease bulls that will settle your heifer pen. We are down slightly with numbers of bulls this year. We are attributing this to a strong cull on our bulls; only the very best make the sale. We firmly believe that quality outweighs quantity every time. As always, we believe service is of utmost importance. As our customers know, we are all about building positive relationships and value the friendships we have formed with you. We want you to know that we always stand behind our bulls. We do not want to sell you just one bull and disappear. We want to be around for many years and continue to bring you bulls that fit your needs. Let us know if an issue ever occurs and we will do what we can to help you out. Although this changes from year to year, we also try to keep a few back up bulls around for our customers who may need a bull during breeding season. On a personal note, our family is doing well. Sher is our rock and does everything required outside of the pens; bull sale paperwork details, farm books, inventory updates, etc. and is still teaching high school at Ponoka Secondary campus. I couldn’t do this without her. Our kids are venturing down their career paths now that they’re finished high school. Braeden is apprenticing in his second year as an Agriculture Mechanic at John Deere in Ponoka and helps out around the farm when he can. Annie’s dream is to continue with the cattle and she has been a huge help for me the last few years. Every year she becomes more involved with all aspects of our cattle business. She is taking marketing courses at RDC and is also pursuing her passion for barrel racing and training horses. We are grateful for our farming community, family and friends who have come alongside us to lend a helping hand or give encouragement along the way. We would like to thank everyone for your support throughout the years and for contributing to making our program and sale strong and successful. We welcome you to stop by any time to view our offering. Our formal open house is on March 15, 2020 from 1- 4 pm. If you are unable to attend on the 16th, this provides an opportunity to view the bulls prior to the sale. Also, as always, we will look after your bids either by phone or talking prior to the sale. If you are not satisfied with our sight unseen recommendations, then you are not obligated to own the bull. We invite you all to come spend the day with us, have lunch and take in the sale on March 16th. Come early, stay late and PUT A DIAMOND IN YOUR HERD!

Herd Health & Nutrition Nutrition Herd health at Diamond C Ranch is of utmost importance. We work closely with our nutritionist, Brian Vercaigne, BJV Feed Management, who helps us ensure our herd is in the utmost condition in all aspects. During the winter months, cows and bred heifers are fed a mix of oat silage and corn silage. Mineral is supplied in the ration as well as free choice trace mineral salt with selenium. In addition, straw is also supplied in the ration as well as free choice. This is to ensure there their rumen is working well and to add extra calcium into their diet. In the summer, the cows are moved to paddocks where they graze usually until weaning.

“I have worked with Neil and Sherry at Diamond C Ranch for many years and I have always found them to be extremely dedicated and conscientious managers. Their animal care and attention to detail is second to none and they are always seeking ways to improve their program. I have been Bulls are grown out slowly, so they will last for you. Greenwood Double Down

Double Down has the lion’s share of bulls in this year’s offering. This is the second year that his bulls have been on offer. He has mated very well with our females and left us some incredible genetics. We have females milking now out of him and they are fantastic and hard to flaw. His milk EPD says he is average for milk; however we have found that his daughters have lots of milk, so this is a trait that you can expect his sons will surely carry on to their offspring as well. His sons are stout, deep, have lots of bone and structurally very correct. Just like last year, his cull rate was slightly higher than we would have liked because of temperament. We have high standards for temperament and the bulls must meet our strict criteria to make the sale. The bulls on offer that made the sale criteria excel in all areas and are very quiet. We guarantee it.

What more can we say about this great bull. Arguably, he is the best heifer bull we have ever used. He sires low birth weight calves perfect for first calf heifers. For the most part they have performance as well which is exactly what we were looking for! Unfortunately, due to an injury, he is no longer here and we will miss him. Next year, in our 2021 sale, we will offer the last of his calves. In this 2020 sale offering there are quite a few bulls sired by him and they will all be calving ease bulls. If you’re looking for that heifer bull that is going to be easy on your calving program, then these are your bulls. Really good heifer bulls are sometimes hard to find. These fit the bill.

As well, “Diamond C Way Cool” was a fantastic heifer bull siring a number of great heifer bulls. These bulls in the 2020 sale offering are again primarily heifer bulls. This bull continues to impress us. He sires powerful bulls and fantastic females and is one of the heaviest hipped Angus bulls you will find! Many people don’t believe us when we say he is Angus. With him there is no taking away muscle; he leaves that on and has mated well with our Limo cows, leaving us with fantastic Limflex cattle. We have females milking now and they are very hard to flaw with picture perfect udders, they are deep bodied and structurally they are very correct. The bulls in the offering have a ton of performance and are not recommended for heifers. They will give you great females and give you added growth on your steers that the industry is going to love.
