Welcome to our 20th Anniversary Sale Writing a bull sale welcome is a great opportunity to look back over the past year and reflect… and WOW! ...what a year it has been!!! So many times this past year we have felt grateful to be living life and working out on the land. We are also very thankful that we have been able to raise our family on the farm, raising quality cattle and feeding the world. “Twenty years now…where’d they go? Twenty years…I don’t know. I sit and wonder sometimes…where they’ve gone….” (Bob Seger, Like A Rock) Where did the time go!? Not only is this our 20th Bull sale, but now we’re also empty nesters!! Last April, our daughter Annie got engaged to a fine, young man, Bryce Stewart. They had a beautiful wedding on our ranch on August 2. Even though Annie now lives an hour and 45 minutes away in Stettler, Alberta, she is still very involved with the Diamond C Ranch cattle operation. She got a job as a Marketing Assistant at the Alberta Ag Centre in Stettler, but is back home every weekend to help out. Not only that, but she has put many extra hours into making this bull sale catalogue come together. Bryce and Annie love farming and we are very thankful for their commitment and hard work on the ranch. Our son, Braeden loves his job as an Ag Mechanic and is apprenticing at John Deere in Ponoka. We had another curve ball thrown at us this fall when he decided to move out to start his life on his own and pursue his dreams. Thankfully, he doesn’t live very far away, so we get to see him often. We are proud of both of our kids and think its super cool that they’re keeping the farm dream alive and building on their agriculture roots. We miss them like crazy, however, we are looking forward to this new chapter in our lives and know that each season brings its own special gift. And now we’re at our 20th Bull Sale and wondering once again where the time went!? We want to thank God, every one of our customers and all the people who have supported us along the way. We firmly believe that life is about relationships; the friendships we have gained along our cattle journey have been a blessing and have enriched our lives. There have been many changes and growth over the years…we started the transition from commercial cattle and purchased our first Limousin heifer the year Braeden was born – 1999. What a journey it has been! Our goal here at the ranch is to always bring you the highest quality product we possibly can. Our numbers have gone down the last few years as we strive to only keep the very best females in our program. Thus our variance from top cow to bottom cow have moved much closer and it is very possible that any cow will bring in the top bull or female and that is what we have been striving for. This has resulted in a strong set of bulls that will move your programs ahead with replacement females, as well as giving you quality cattle that will be at the top of the market.

We have different pedigrees from last year and we are thrilled at what they have done for us and excited about what they can do for you. Most are from bulls and bloodlines we have raised, so we have taken the guess work out because we know what they can do and know how consistent they can be. These home raised sires are from our very best dams which again takes the guess work out for you because you know they are from great females. We stand by our motto that we want to treat you like we would like to be treated and aim to be honest and fair in our business dealings. We stand behind our cattle and will back anything that has been deemed reasonable or our fault. We want you feel confident with your bull purchase and come back to our program year after year. If you have been a Diamond C customer in the past, then you already know this. If you’re new to our program, then we encourage you to come out take a look at our offering before deciding on your next purchase. We are confident you will be impressed and we will work hard to earn your business.
How to Participate in our Diamond C Sale This Year… Being as this is our second time through the “Covid” sale experience, we want to assure you that we have it covered. We are going to try to keep the sale as “normal” as possible. However, we recognize the need for flexibility and, most importantly, we want you to feel comfortable and safe. We have 3 options available for you to be part of the sale: 1. In Person Bidding – You’re always welcome to attend our sale in person! We’ll provide lunch at 12PM with lots of space for social distancing, servers and sanitizer. The Sale will follow at 1:30 PM. 2. Internet Bidding - We are happy to again be working with VJV who handles all our online bidding at www.vjvauction.com. You can log in there to bid on the sale offerings. 3. Phone Bidding – We will have a capable team available on sale day to take your call. Their phone numbers are listed in the front of the catalog. If possible, please let Neil or Annie know in advance, so that we can coordinate callers and be available for you. Note: If you are unable to attend the sale in person and are going to use any of the off-site options, we recommend that you watch the videos of each individual bull on our website, www.diamondcranchlimousin.com. Give us a call and we will go over the offering with you and help you select the bulls that fit your needs. If you would like to stop by and preview the bulls, we are happy to arrange time that is convenient. We again will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, March 14 from 1-4 pm to give more time for bull reflection. So with that, we invite you to our 20th Annual Diamond C Bull Sale at 1:30 pm, Monday, March 15, 2021.

Herd Health & Nutrition Nutrition During the winter months, cows and bred heifers are fed a mix of cereal silage and haylage. Mineral is supplied in the ration as well as free choice trace mineral salt with selenium. In addition, straw is also supplied in the ration as well as free choice. This is to ensure there their rumen is working well and to add extra calcium into their diet. In the summer, the cows are moved to paddocks where they graze usually until weaning. “I have worked with Neil and Sherry at Diamond C Ranch for many years Bulls are grown out slowly, so they will last for you. This year they are being fed and I have always found them to be extremely dedicated and conscientious a mixture of cereal silage and haylage, with the addition of barley grain. They managers. Their animal care and attention to detail is second to none are started on this ration in September. After the bull sale they are taken slowly and they are always seeking ways to improve their program. I have been off of the grain, so as to get them ready to transition to grass. Two-year-old bulls consistently impressed by the quality of the Diamond C animals and I are lightly backgrounded the first winter and go to grass until September. Then wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.” they are brought home and started on their sale ration. The yearling bulls are Sincerely, targeted for a 1250 lbs. yearling weight average at bull sale day. Dr. Kelly Loree DVM Disease Prevention and Animal Care

All bulls are evaluated for breeding and structural soundness, as well getting scrotal measurements and evaluated for sperm quality. All are required to pass with 70% soundness. A copy of breeding soundness will be provided with your bill of sale.
In the event of a deferred decision, only half of the purchase amount will be required on sale day. The other half is due when the bull passes his evaluation. In an event he does not pass his test, all money will be reimbursed to the purchaser. Females are evaluated for structural soundness and are tracked to watch productivity. Females that do not measure up are removed from the herd.
It has been great to work with the crew at Diamond C Ranch Limousin this year, In the early fall, we tested their on-farm forages and built specific diet for the developing bulls. Corn silage, cereal silage, haylage, barley grain, and a complete mineral package were formulated to maximize forage utilization and gut health. The bulls are developed on grass during the summer months and then moved onto a balanced TMR that promotes lean muscle. The bulls are challenged with a foraged based TMR to help them develop to their genetic potential. Organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and overall health. If you have any questions about the nutrition of the sale bulls, please feel free to call. Best of luck sale day!

Reference Sires Diamond C The Champ “The Champ” is a son of the great Excels Popeye bull who left his mark in our herd. His dam is one of our top cows, Diamond C Zaharra. She was also the dam of our 2015 high selling lot, Diamond C Bob Seger purchased by Cresthills Cattle Company. “The Champ” sires cattle with a quiet temperament, really nice hair coats and makes wonderful females. He is a pleasure to have around; he is super quiet and always stays out of fighting with the other herd bulls. We used Popeye quite a bit so The Champ could only be used on select females as to not overload that blood line in our herd. He is single black so he throws both red and black calves. He has some of the performance bulls in this year’s lineup. If you’re looking to improve your females and the temperament in your herd, then take a look at The Champ’s sons. They will not disappoint! Reference Sire of Lots 2, 3 & 13
Diamond C Exciter Exciter is arguably the best son out of the awesome bull Diamond C Way Cool. He was our best bull out of the 2018 calf crop and is out of a dam who had a picture perfect udder. He was super quiet and was one of the deepest bodied bulls you would find in any breed. It was his ability to put extra middle in his progeny that drew our attention. He excelled in every area and we are thrilled with his offering. He was hetero-polled, hence why some of his sons are horned: a small sacrifice on moving forward with excellence. He has sired some of the strongest progeny ever raised at Diamond C Ranch. Unfortunately, there will not be many more sons from him as we lost him due to an injury. He will have progeny in this year’s sale and our 2022 sale, and that will be all. We are excited about Diamond C Exciter’s sale offering to say the least! Reference Sire of Lots 22-36
DMM Stache 14C Stache is a herd sire who keeps bringing great ones to the plate at Diamond C Ranch. He is one of the heaviest muscled Angus bulls you will ever find. In fact, most would believe that he was a Limousin bull. He consistently sires quiet, high performance and absolutely fantastic females. We have females milking now and they are very hard to flaw; they have picture perfect udders, are deep bodied and very correct. The bulls in the offering have a ton of performance and are not recommended for heifers. They will give you great females and the added growth on your steers that the industry is going to love. He has left his mark on our program and is sadly getting older, so it’s time to invest in his great legacy! Reference Sire of Lots 14-21

Reference Sires
Diamond C Earthquake Sired by the great Diamond C Braveheart, Earthquake was one of best bulls on offer in our 2018 sale. Earthquake sold to Crest Hills Cattle Company and has done a wonderful job for them. We were very fortunate that Craig and Angie allowed us to lease him back for one cycle of our 2018 breeding season. The result is these great sons in our offering. His sons have a great disposition, thick hair coats, even confirmation and are bulls that are going to improve our cattle industry. He has a different pedigree on the dam’s side with the HC Final time bloodline. You will find that his progeny is great footed, deep bodied and full of performance. They will definitely move your cow herd in the right direction! Reference Sire of Lots 1, 4-9
Diamond C Freight Train Diamond C Freight Train is a sire that we are very proud of. He carries genetics out of our very top two females, so his sons on offer in this sale should give absolutely fantastic females. We used him on heifers and proved that he calved very well. His disposition was also fantastic. He was homo polled and carried a real nice hair coat, which in turn he has given to his sons. He was offered for sale last year as we wanted someone to be able to use these great genetics. He was purchased by Henry Thalen and was used in his herd. Sadly he was lost to injury, so his sons and progeny will be limited to this calf crop. For the most part his sons will be easy calving and will produce great females. Keep all the replacements you can as this is a fantastic bloodline. Reference Sire of Lots 37, 39 & 40
In loving memory of our dear friends...
Richard “Dick” Osokin
Roger Van Hecke
Dick has been our family friend and neighbour for 50+ years. Preparing for our sale doesn’t feel the same without him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand with a cheery Smile.
We admired his zest for life and love for his family and farming. We will miss his friendly visits on our farm and at cattle shows.
