Welcome to the Supplying the Seed Annual Bull & Female Sale Welcome to our Third Annual Spring Bull And Female Sale. Another year of weather challenges but again our hereford cattle came in from pasture in top condition with fat calves at side.

All calves are weighed with a digital scale at birth for accuracy. We think the bulls are real solid from top to bottom, we cull our bulls at birth and again at weaning keeping only what we consider the best to sell. There are too many common bulls in all breeds being sold now. The heifers are selected from a pen of 70 calves and are a real solid group.

A note on February 5th our straight bred Hereford steers sold at HLS. Moose Jaw. Our heavy 900 lb. plus steers topped the market for the day and our 800 weight steers were just a 2 to 5 cents off all breeds. Good steers will still give you a good return.

In appreciation of the Hereford Breed and their belief for the youth involved, Winston (Win) and Hollie Stothert, Lakes Ranch, have generously donated $10,000.00 to Canadian Junior Hereford Association members to apply the purchase or purchases of 2018 heifer calves in the Crittenden Bros. Polled Hereford Bull and Female Sale, on April 4, 2019.

The endowment is split into four parts of $2500.00 and the first four members who purchase a female during the auction will be able to apply the credit towards their purchase. The junior’s name shall be announced at the fall of the hammer and the animal shall be duly transferred into the junior’s name at the Canadian Hereford Association.

A big thank you to Win and Hollie and the whole crew at Lakes Ranch… with Bonanza being hosted by Saskatchewan at Weyburn this summer, this is a great way to be competitive and own a top breeding female!

Welcome to the 2019 edition of Crittenden Bros. annual “Supplying the Seed” Polled Hereford Bull and Female Sale at the Farm, Imperial, Saskatchewan on April 4th. For decades, these two brothers and their families have diligently supplied the livestock industry worldwide with some of the breeds top Polled Hereford seed stock. Gordon and Howard are scientists and their laboratory is a vast pasture…there, they produce a new and better model each year that will add an extra premium for them and those who choose to select from their program. These cattle are bred and raised in all the elements nature offers and all types of terrain…yet each year they come in with a big fat calf and always rebred. Their shelter and show barn are one of a kind…a slab fence!

It becomes repetitive but this 2019 sale offering is the deepest and strongest to date. The bulls are rugged, stout, with lots of hair, testicle and dimension; there are bulls for all types of programs...power bulls for cows, calving ease bulls that will fit the heifer pens (as well as for all avid curlers), and those that will fit into both pastures. The females are always a feature, as they are paternal sisters to the bulls and are selected from the powerful group of cow families that make up this herd…lots of milk and great udders. There are bulls and females suitable for all types of programs and budgets.

The GHC program has been built by strengthening trait weaknesses…just look at the three main sires of the offering. The Tahoe bull is a power machine needed to use on cows…ranking in the top 1% of the breed for weaning, yearling, cow weight, fat, teat size and udder suspension and in the top 5% of the breed for total maternal 61.7 (the breed average is 49.4). The Cannon bull ranks in the top 10% of the breed for calving ease, weaning, milk, total maternal at 58.2, cow weight and marbling while the out-cross All Star bull ranks in the top 1% for calving ease, maternal calving ease at 49.8, MPI, FMI and the top 5% for birth weight and marbling…a calving ease specialist.

Although for many these numbers are a pain in the butt…but learn to use them as a selection tool down the road. Breeders, there are herd sire prospects in this lineup…check them out!

Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder...no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6)months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Phone, Mail, Wire Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance: Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Hereford Association, unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.
