Welcome to the 2016 edition of Take the Next Step Sale

Well it’s that exciting time of year again... planning our fall production sale. Here at C & T, it has been a pretty good year so far. Winter was exceptionally mild, calving went well, spring started out looking dry, but it started to rain in late May and we ended up with great hay and grain crops; so feed is plentiful. That is always a good feeling. Very exciting for us was the birth of William Lees on Daryl and family April 22 to Kurt and Cassandra. He weighed in at the very acceptable BW of 7 pounds even... No calving issues there, Sale Representatives: according to his proud dad! L.O.L. Once again, Take the Next Step sale has a very strong Canadian Hereford Association and diverse offering with plenty of show prospects and quality Stephen Scott, General Manager reliable replacement females. Daryl Kirton, President The McCoy group of Chad, Carrie, Gary, Florence, and Doug Mann, Vice President the girls have three powerful breds and two heifer calf show Murray Andrews, CHA Director prospects. David Reid, CHA Director The Wagners, Randy and Karen have a bred female and a heifer calf straight from the replacement pen. Saskatchewan Hereford Association: Ernie, Marge, Ken and Janelle of Twin View have a strong Marilyn Charlton, General Manager group of heifer calves, bred heifers and mature cows. They will work well in any herd. Stephen Myer, President Doug and Wanda of PCL continue to bring a high quality selection. This year they consigned four top Tina Lees, Vice President heifer calves and ten broody breds. These females are ranch raised with no fuss, no muss. Dale Shillington, Past President Here at C&T, we offer 12 strong bred females including both of Dawson’s Bonanza show heifers. We also chose 3 replacement heifer calves that would make excellent show prospects for Bonanza 2017. Remember, Manitoba Hereford Association: Junior buyers will receive a 10% discount on heifer calves in the sale. Talk to any of the consignors about Vivian Jones, Secretary & Manager developing your heifer, if you’d like, to have them ready for Abbotsford, BC in July. Steven Manns, President And here we go again... the Saskatchewan Roughriders...It’s Labor Day and the stadium is sold out! What Holly Hyndman, Vice President other sports franchise can say that when the favorite team has a record of 1 and 9 for the second year in a row...That’s Rider Pride... and the belief never waivers. There are many changes taking place on the grounds of Regina Exhibition. The opening of the new CWA John Deere Sales Arena in 2016. The opening of the International Trade Center in 2017 as part of the improvements to CWA. And the state of the art Mosaic Football Stadium in 2017. My prediction?? I believe the 2018 Grey Cup will be played in the new stadium and the Riders will win it. Never stop believing and good things can and do happen. See you sale day Chris

Junior Buyer’s incentive 10% discount to any Junior member purchasing a heifer calf in the sale.

C & T Cattle Company & Guests

From the desk at T Bar... We have come to the conclusion that our hosts, Chris and Tina, this being the thirteenth time “Taking the Next Step,” are not superstitious; although the sale day is a Saturday not Friday. They are believers in thirteen and they are integral members of the thirteenth man even though the Rider record is dropping like we want a birth weight EPD to.

Take The Next Step

THIRTEENTH Annual Production Sale 5:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2016 At Right Cross Ranch Sale Barn, Kisbey, SK (5 kms South of Kisbey on HWY 605 and 4 kms West)

For the past dozen years, “Take the Next Step” has been an ideal event for Hereford breeders from throughout North America to source top quality replacement seed stock. The sale is one of, if not the largest offering of bred yearling heifers in the nation. C & T, along with Phantom Creek, KLR, McCoy and Twin View, offer offspring from the top of their best cow families to ensure customer satisfaction. The cattle are diverse genetically, phenotypically and will suit any program with any size of budget. The heifer calf offering is small but elite with several that will see a show halter this fall and in the following year... ideal for 4-H, juniors, jackpots and grandparents with tax problems!

Sale Day Phones: 306-462-4440 Sale Barn 306-220-5006 Chris Poley 306-221-2711 Ted 306-577-7370 Chris Lees 306-577-1238 Tina 306-421-8318 Kurt 306-436-7300 Chad 306-741-1265 Doug 204-365-7426 Ernie 431-282-3030 Ken 306-717-1230 Karen

Although the calf market has slowed, it has stabilized into an area where every sector of the beef chain can capitalize upon. As a cow-calf producer, the search for replacement seed stock with new, fresh genetics never ends... we need baldies whichever way we get them... through a sire or mother. Stabilized periods are great times to take advantage of other’s indecisions... one cannot be rewarded in the beef cattle industry without inventory!

We can’t say enough about how much we love this April heifer. Her heads up look catches your eye immediately. Everything about her says look at me! Well pigmented. Feminine front end. Wide topped. Long spined. Deep flanked. A true beauty. Her pedigree is full of some of the most influential blood lines throughout the industry today and past including her mating to Zircon. She was shown at bonanza and her first show saw her stand second to the Reserve Grand Champion female. Her future is unlimited for showing and eventual long term production. We calved the first Strokers out this spring and admire the levelness and attachment of the udders as well as milk quality. Bred AI to PCL Zircon 719T 25Z on May 22, 2016. No exposure.
