Welcome to the “Best of the Breeds” Annual Bull Sale, Sunday March 27, 2022, at Heartland Livestock Services, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This is their 18th anniversary … and “wow” these breeders are getting serious about producing breeder bulls! In the Gelbvieh division, Blair and Lorie have been the source of breeder bulls and ranchers alike for the past decade. Their lineup for 2022 is impressive… homo polled and homo good! Bulls with muscle and hair, and still come with calving ease and performance John at Black Ridge will tell you despite the hot weather and drought, this might be the best set of bull to date. They feature the sons of Lewis 389G and his son Riot. Strong maternally, they will add pounds at weaning while producing daughters that will fill your replacement needs. The boys, at Twin Heritage have become an official supplier of Red Angus for both the rancher and the purebred breeder. No doubt the sons of Detour will be a feature but check out the low-birth-weight opportunities available sale day. Charolais influence founded this event 18 years ago and in 2022 Dogpatch and Harcourt’s have outdone themselves. Many are homo polled, several breeder bull opportunities abound. Whether you are looking for an exciting yearling or a cover-the-cows two-year-old, selection is genetically diverse. Bulls with depth, muscle, hair… pounds of calf at weaning is commonplace using Charolais bulls. Lyle and Ken have come loaded with an outstanding consignment. With power and genetic opportunity, Forden Fairview Farm offers the largest lineup of homo polled fullbloods to sell in addition to the selected purebreds. The bulls that we have on offer are the ones that survived the rigid culling process and made the cut this fall when we ran out of pasture. These bulls are backed by proven genetics and a cow herd built with an emphasis on fertility, sound udder structure, and good feet. We continue to pail feed a balanced bull developer ration to ensure responsible development and longevity. The weights provided are actuals with WW taken early in the fall on August 2 and YW taken on February 5. REFERENCE SIRE – RED TWIN HERITAGE DETOUR 24F Detour 24F is a home raised bull that we are keen on. We had planned to sell him in our sale a few years back but decided to keep him for use in our herd. His pedigree is stacked with some of the top bulls we have used over the years and his dam has a beautiful udder and impeccable foot. If you stop by the farm, I invite you to look at his feet; hands down one of the best footed Red Angus bulls that we have seen in awhile. He adds a bit more power and frame than the old Detour bull, but checks the box on the type of bull we are striving to raise for our customers.

REFERENCE SIRE – RED WILBAR PACKER 51F We selected Packer from Wilbar’s 2018 sale for his strong dam and fresh pedigree for us. We have used Packer on our heifer pen the last couple of years and he is a true calving ease bull. Strong footed, moderate framed, and highly maternal are the key qualities of 51F. He is moderating the BW in our herd and daughters are calving out now and udders look fantastic. We used him heavy this past year and plan to do so again this spring.
