It is a pleasure to once again be working with the Blue Collar Sale Group; from its inception these folks have made a commitment to breed, develop and offer an Angus bull that has as much information as possible. Total performance, fertility tested and carcass evaluated are all available to you such that you are able to select the bulls for your special needs. New this year is a selection of open heifers who we certainly believe is of the quality to make front end cows in someone’s program.

Genetically we find an exceptional cross section of herdsires used; Coneally Thunder, Final Answer, SAV Heritage and Harb Pendleton as well as many of the great walking bulls that these folks have. As well we welcome Jordan Sies, J Square S Angus, an enthusiastic up and coming Angus breeder.

We would like to welcome you to the 5th Annual Blue Collar Bull Sale. These five years have really flown by. There has been some growth in what we have done at the sale. We believe that we have improved our offering each and every year, to offer you bulls that will go out and work for you and ultimately increase your bottom line. Our vision is to breed, “Honest, hard working bulls that’ll get ‘er done.” While we have remained focused on our vision we have some changes for this year. Firstly, Double D Angus-The Hollinger’s-have decided to make some changes in their lives with regards to the cattle side of things. We thank them for their contribution to the sale and wish them all the best in the future. Secondly, we have a new partner. We would like to welcome to the sale-J Square S-The Sies Family. They will be consigning 8 bulls to the sale this year. Thirdly, we have 12 yearling heifers on offer. These females come from the breeds leading genetics and our best cow families. With the cow numbers on the decline, this is your opportunity to get some young heifers into your herd. Each year we bring bulls to town that are the best we have. They are fed grain and hay which are tested and analyzed to create a balance ration to maximize feed efficiency, promote growth, testicle and semen development, grow good hair coats and provide longevity. The bulls are held in large pens or pastures for ample exercise and roaming. We all have young families and our cattle need to be content around children. Cattle that are easy to handle are essential in all our operations; therefore, good temperament in all our bulls is a must. You will quickly notice that there are numerous sires represented in our bulls. The bulls are all related to the breeds leading genetics. By using a variety of sires we are able to offer bulls to meet the needs of many breeders and the different types of cattle everyone has. In using these sires we seek all the traits necessary to make management easy-calving ease, temperament, structural soundness… and produce cattle with lots of red meat to increase profitability at all levels of the industry. There is a good deal of reference to the female side of each pedigree as you go through the footnotes. It is our belief that the cows are the “factory” in our business. You need to create and maintain the best “factory” you can in order to produce the best product possible. Our cows are selected and retained based on the cow family itself, milking ability and maternal traits. Good cows=Good calves. Each year we strive to produce the most complete bulls we can. A bull needs to have a variety of things in his favor in order to be of value. The bulls at the Blue Collar Sale are the result of our attention to all the factors which make a bull one desired by you and the market place-eye appeal, carcass data, EPD’s, structure soundness, pedigrees, calving ease and growth potential. We have really liked the look of this sire. He was a real outcross for us and many of the other black angus blood lines that are being used today. Thunder is a bull with lots of hip, length, depth and shape. He also has very good weaning and yearling growth, especially considering that he is a calving ease sire with a -0.4 birth epd. We wanted a bull with low birth weights and lots of grow. We used him on heifers and cows-who were prone to high birth weight calves. The results speak for themselves when you look at the herd sire prospects we have in this sale.

This is a Net Worth son we had in share with Bell Angus at Pense. The 2010 calves are his first crop of calves and they have been great. His females are deep and feminine. We look forward to having them producing in our herd. The bulls are thick powerful bulls with ample testicles. Two Net Return daughters were purchased by Glen Gabel Angus this past fall. Both daughters did well in the show ring at Agribition. One of them, Northern View Ruth 91X was first in class against some very powerful females and the other one placed 5th out of 12. Unfortunately, 2011 calves will be his last crop of calves as we lost 3U to injury this summer.

Well this guy’s resume speaks for itself at our place. His bulls have been very well accepted at past sales. They are easy fleshing, eye appealing, muscular, good hair, big nutted bulls. The females have been fantastic, producing some of our top bulls in the sale. As you look through the pedigrees of our bulls in this sale you will notice 86P turning up. These females have produced some of the top gaining bulls. These girls are angular, gorgeous uddered females. I can’t say enough about them. Quantum 86P is a bull with a -0.7 birth epd and +23 for milk. These are the highlights of his epds. As a result, he has been used on heifers and calved out well. His females are terrific milkers and don’t easily leave our farm. This year’s calves are the last ones from 86P. He injured himself this past summer and will be off to greener pastures. Look to get solid replacement females and well muscles bulls from the Quantum bloodline.

There isn’t enough you can say about this bull. We purchased this bull from the 2009 SAV sale. He is a direct son of the infamous Traveler 004 bull. He comes from one of the most powerful cows in the angus industry. His dam S A V Heiress 1184 has sold over $240,000 worth of sons all over the world from their past sales, and surely it won’t stop there. This bull was quoted as “as thick, muscular and powerful as ever produced in S A V’s 67 year history”. His full brothers include S A V Heavy Hitter 6347, the top selling bull of the 2007 S A V sale and S A V Payroll 5281, a feature bull of the 2006 sale. He is also a brother to S A V Mandan, S A V Predominant, S A V Density and S A V Net Worth, all top sellers of their respective sales. We are extremely excited about this bull and the potential he has. We are now on his second calf crop and are proud to say he can get the job right. His group of cows were all bred and nearly all of them caught on their first cycle in pasture. The calves are strong with lots of vigor and growth, something we look forward to seeing for years to come.

It is safe to say that those who have seen 70X have been “Thunder struck.” As one breeder who saw him in the pasture this summer stated, “He has that real “WOW FACTOR.” Thunder 70X is a real deep long bodied bull with great muscular expression. He has one of those rare and sought after qualities in a bull is a low birth weight-75lbs and a rapid growth. “Reggie”, as our kids named him, was born with tremendous vigor and then grew and grew. He had an actual weight on August 24th of 890 lbs and an adjusted yearling weight of 1475lbs. What we find truly remarkable about all of this is that we used a calving ease sire on a heifer and got a calf like 70X. If he produces cattle like him and his parents he will be a real money maker. 70X’s dam, Princess 73U is a beautiful young female. She has a very angular front, deep, broad bodied, level and square uddered and good footed cow. Princess 73U is a Quantum 86P daughter. These 86P daughters are amazing milker’s and moderate cows. Due to their production ability we do not plan on selling these vital females in our “factory”. Thunder 70X went on a modest show tour this fall. In Brandon at the Fall Fair he was Reserve Champion Bull Calf. Then at Agribition he was second in his class to the bull that went on to be the Reserve Grand Champion Bull. This early maturing, muscular, structurally sound young herd sire prospect is one that we really like. This bull should work on heifers or cows. We are selling Full Possession and 2/3’s semen interest.

This Thunder bull is another low birth weight epd and birth weight calf. He was a member of our 2010 Yorkton Harvest Showdown Grand Champion Pen of Bulls. 72X is a very deep bodied high volume bull. His mother and grandmother are similar in type. The dam of 72X was ours and other breeder’s pick of our bred heifer pen. Take note of his adjusted yearling weight. He gained 4.14 lbs per day. This bull has style, calving easy and growth. With an 85lb birth weight and +0.8 birth epd, this guy should work well on heifers or cows. We are selling Full Possession and 2/3’s semen interest.

S A V Final Answer has been a very popular herd sire in the WEPD 51 Angus industry for a long time. Many of his sons are being used YEPD 94 S A V Final Answer 0035 as AI sires too. We used Final Answer on heifers and cows alike. Milk 17 Sire Of Lot 5 The results have been low birth weight calves with strong growth. TM 43 74X’s dam, Belle 79U, is backed by a real solid pedigree with 70M on the top side and Belle 166P on the bottom side. 166P produced our sales high seller last year to Windy Willows Farm at Hodgeville, for $7600. Final Answer 74X has excellent weights and EPD numbers, very eye appealing, structurally sound and packed with solid genes to make him a real herd sire prospect. His average daily weight gain has been 4.11lbs. Despite a low birth weight and reasonable birth weight epd I would recommend cautious use on heifers until you know how he calves out. He was a member of our 2010 Yorkton Harvest Showdown Grand Champion Pen of Bulls. We are selling Full Possession and 2/3 semen interest.

Heritage 71X is a bull that is a thick, deep, eye appealing BEPD 1.8 bull with ample scrotal. He’s out of an excellent Ruth WEPD 48 cow. You have heard me mention the Ruth’s and their YEPD 94 solid milk numbers and production of excellent calves Milk 23 each year. Both he and his dam have milk numbers over TM 47 +21. When I analyze Pioneer 82X’s and his dam’s numbers I think “Wow”. Milk TM Impressive all around. He does carry a bit more birth weight to him but he also has size, shape and scrotal. We selected his dam, Zara Lisa 35U, from the 2010 Mountain View Production Sale. She is a moderate cow who kicked out a very good looking Bone Creek Blackman 8311U calf this year. 8311U is our newest herd sire. Watch for his calves next year. They look good. We believe 35U has been and will continue to be an excellent purchase. Pioneer 82X was a member of our 2010 Yorkton Harvest Showdown Grand Champion Pen of Bulls. By all reports and in our experience S A V Net Worth 4200 has produced cattle with explosive growth and capacity and females that milk well. 80X appears to be that type of bull. His dam, Beauty 78K, has obviously been in our herd a long time. This is simply because she has been a solid producer. This pair of twin bull calves came from the very productive Birdy 52J cow. This cow has produced quality calves each year because of quality milking ability. She is +20 for milk. Encore 4X was grafted onto our old Jestress 44G cow and Encore 5X was left on 52J. Both calves did very well. They both have over 1200 lb. 365 day weights and both have an average daily gain of 3.44 lbs. Kinda neat. I believe that these bulls will be very good sires for someone looking to add style, appeal and shape to their herd.

Delivery - The Blue Collar Bull Sale group will assist with delivery where ever possible. Receive a $50 discount on your bull purchased if you take your bull home the day of or the day after the sale. Free delivery on bulls purchased within a 100 mile Warrantee - Blue Collar consignors guarantee to sell you a bull radius. Over 100 mile radius, delivery and cost to be worked out between the buyer and the individual consignor to the sale.
