With record low cow numbers in all beef producing nations in the world and especially here at home in North America, the beef business is about to see prices never before experienced. If the laws of supply and demand work as they should, we will be in for good times for a while (years not months). The market for feeders continues to climb and that will translate directly to your next herdsire. If you need a bull or think you need a bull, don’t wait – the time is now. The bulls we offer are for the most part moderate birth weight with performance. The first thing we look at when purchasing a bull is birth weight and birth weight EPD. These must ensure calving ease. It is the number one factor in our selection of a herd bull. The great thing about a Charolais bull is you don’t give up performance to obtain the calving ease we desire. Our bulls are genetically selected to calve easy. With the recent surge in cattle prices, now is the time to upgrade your herd bulls to young semen tested bulls that are ready to go to work for you. Over the past several years it has been hard to justify selling functional old bulls because they had so little salvage value, even though many of us knew their reliability or quality was questionable. With today’s salvage prices, one heavy old bull and two cull cows can generate four thousand dollars to purchase a new herd sire. His sire topped our sale in 2010 to Dog Patch Acres. His mother has already produced the high selling bred heifer in Canada in the fall of 2008. Both sides of his pedigree have hair coats that are the envy of the breed. He is long, deep, sound and definitely worth a look!

At FFF, we aim to raise bulls that provide calving ease, maternal strength, natural thickness and excellent temperament. This year marks the introduction of bulls off our new Polled, Full Fleckvieh herd sire, Double Bar D Legend 87W. The Fleckvieh strains of Simmental are bred for meat and milk production. These cattle display early accelerated growth with ease of fleshing on a moderate frame. Right from birth, these Legend calves display extra thickness and muscle and are easy to spot in the pen. Also on offer this year are bulls off our known herd sires Tank and Louisville. We use Tank extensively on heifers and the calves come easy and on their own. We’ve crossed Tank on some Fleckvieh cows so watch for these bulls in the sale as they combine performance and calving ease. Louisville is our Black herd sire that continues to impress anyone that sees him. He carries extra length and has tremendous thickness. Welcome to the Best of the Breeds Bull Sale for 2012; hope calving is going well for all. The bulls this year are mostly sired from our herd sires. Once again the bulls are not pushed, they never seen any creep, stayed on pasture until November, and were weaned on straight hay. A few weeks later they went onto silage, mixed with hay, grain, and supplements. We feel that these bulls will last many productive years for their new owners. Fertility and Longevity is the most important trait in a cow herd! A cow can have the greatest numbers and look like a superstar, but if she doesn’t have the ability to calve year after year in a commercial environment she isn’t worth much.
This year we are offering the only calves available by the Semex sire Peak Dot Resolute 37W. He was the high selling yearling from the John, Bonnie & Family 2010 Peak Dot Sale and we were fortunate to buy a piece of him. He walked the pasture here for a couple months before he went to the bull stud. His calves are thick from end to end, are wide based and have excellent top lines and bone. This bull is going to be a big, smooth and long bull. He has really good bone and is also super quiet; he comes up to you in the pen and wants to visit every time I have went in there. Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
