n behalf of Michelle and John, I would like to welcome everyone to our annual bull sale. We are offering what I believe to be as deep a set of bulls as we have ever had. As you go through the offering I know you will notice how uniform in type these bulls are regardless of the sire group. There are three things in common; all the bulls have a great profile, all bulls have a similar body type, and all bulls are structurally sound. Because many people request yearlings and because our numbers allow it we are offering 12 standout yearling bulls. Most are April and May born but are extremely high in quality. We will be semen testing them later this spring. They will sell with a total guarantee of a satisfactory semen test as usual. If you have any questions regarding the offering please do not hesitate to contact us or any of the sales staff. Also, consider this your invitation to be our guests at 12 noon for “prime rib” dinner professionally prepared by Rylan Weir. We would be honoured by your presence.

Things to
• All our calves are weaned off of the cow with no creep • Weaning weights are real, only milk and grass
• Our birth weights are accurately taken with an electronic digital scale the same day as they are born • Our bull calves are wintered on a primarily roughage ration and then turned out to grass • We focus on body type, structure/profile and soundness (skeletal and foot) • We winter our bulls in large lots. Exercise is available for every animal to maintain athleticism • Two year old bulls that aren’t overfed will adapt to first year breeding season and cover more ground than yearling bulls

Welcome to the Bar-H Land & Cattle Co. Annual Spring Bull Sale on March 25th, at the ranch, Langenburg, Saskatchewan. This yearly event features powerful two-year-old Black Angus bulls and exciting yearlings. The offering does not come by chance but by astute building and selection. Each year Robin goes searching for that next sire so that the Bar-H customer base can infuse fresh new genetics into their breeding plans, as many are out-cross sires in the breed. Bar-H is a family run operation therefore everyone must carry their own weight, but with John at college, Robin gets to do double duty as boss and hired man. He will tell you that breeding Angus makes ranching much easier, even when the wind chill is minus forty. Those Angus mothers have great mothering ability along with calving ease and will rustle through forage, making the winter and spring seem shorter as they are self-reliant. The powerful lineup of two-year-olds is strong throughout‌ born in late April and May, on dry ground and in a big pasture. Throughout the summer they are run on grass to ensure soundness and muscle, then brought in the fall and put on a high roughage ration getting them ready for the sale. These bulls are not cooked, but rather brought along slowly so that they mature and grow. Robin is always concerned with calving ease and many of these bulls are calving friendly. The yearlings come out of the early calving group and are selected for body type, calving ease and performance. They are cut from the top. Stop by the ranch anytime prior the sale and they will be pleased to give you a tour and a coffee. Feel free to give Robin a call to discuss the bulls and which bulls will work in your program. Come early and be guests for an Angus prime rib beef dinner, complete with dessert. It will be worth the trip. Mindbender was the very popular and high selling bull in 2018 bringing $38,000.00 for a full 1/2 of the bull, selling to Spring Creek Simmentals, the Brian McCarthy family. Mindbender was a planned mating, combining superior female maker, S Summit and power Angus cow, HF Tibbie 93U. To this point he has crossed all boxes as a genuine breed improver. He will keep birth weights in check, add performance at weaning and yearling and sire both sexes of high quality. He stands on a great set of feet and is very low maintenance. We believe his greatest contribution will be that of his females. They are generally stouter made, soft in kind and we anticipate they will have great udders and teat placement.

Titan was a great find from Thompson Angus in North Dakota. Deep bodied, level hipped with added dimension is what you get when you use Titan. His feet are impeccable and because of his athleticism he covers a lot of ground in the breeding pasture. His sons will feature our spring bull sale and as well, his females are some of the real features here. By all accounts his daughters will be an asset to any program by way of longevity and a little different twist to the pedigree.

Titlest was a great find for us as a breeding bull. His sons are extremely popular with our commercial customers and his daughters have gone on to be great production machines, providing genetics that keep the birth weight in check without sacrificing frame and growth. The overall balance and visual appeal of Titlest progeny are his greatest asset. As there is no more semen available on Titlest, this will be his last set of females offered for sale and we feel they are as good as we have had the opportunity to produce.

Intrinsic was obtained in the spring of 2018 from Nathan and Emily Spickler. With his first calf crop he was able to lower birth weight on every cow he was mated to which earned him a negative birth EPD. Even though his calves come small at birth they appear to grow and perform well following weaning. Intrinsic has a lot to offer our program, he is a complete outcross to most of our bloodlines, his scrotal size and EPD are in the top 1% of the breed, he stands on a very good foot and his temperament is second to none. Combining his balanced genetic profile along with his overall structural completeness makes him a very valuable breeding tool for the future. As a note, his full flush sisters are very good in every area of production.

We used Open Country 30D as a yearling before selling him in our 2018 sale to Cam Taylor, Wolsley, SK. Open Country 30D was an extremely deep bodied, soft made brute with a ton of hair and great testicles. His Titlest mother has an outstanding udder and teat score. The sons selling are all rugged made and masculine, ideal in body type and certainly have a great look of quality about them. They are money maker, commercial cattlemens type.
Terms & Conditions
Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bigger and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final.
Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. Pedigree Estimates: Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such. Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements. Guarantee: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold.
