Welcome to Agribition 2018, Canada’s Agricultural showcase for the world! I was not yet born when this great event originated, so much of the early history I’ve learned has come from books or visiting with the pioneers and founders of this amazing livestock event. The idea and formation of Agribition can be attributed to the Hereford breed, just a couple of guys driving home from Denver and coming up with some ideas and a plan. I wonder at that time whether “Hall of Famers” Chris Sutter and Jim Lewthwaite dreamed it would develop into such an impacting, world class event. The livestock exhibited are amongst the elite of the world and are a symbol of Canada’s seedstock excellence. The Agribition sale attracts the best in animals and breeders. To have an offering in the sale and then exhibited in the show the following day, is a symbol of your program. The 2018 offering has been selected to have Agribition quality aimed at herd improvement for generations to follow. Exciting best explains the lineup in the 2018 sale, right from the feature herd bull prospects, through to the breds, heifer calves and embryos. Since Bonanza 2019 is being hosted by Saskatchewan in Weyburn next summer, juniors have a wonderful opportunity to acquire a competitive edge calf to exhibit next summer, halter broke, show broke and out of the freshest genetics in the breed. Plan to make Agribition a part of your travel plans this fall, with the sale on Thursday and the Show on Friday, you will get to see Canada’s finest Herefords and partake in fellowship and hospitality.
