Your support has been greatly appreciated. We are bringing 22 bulls out of a total of 75 born, you can see not all of them make the cut. We are very proud of the ones that do, many of them being heifer safe.

They will be semen tested and guaranteed breeders. Again we will offer $100 off of bulls taken home by the buyers on sale day. Bulls returning to our farm must be insured and will be kept free of charge until May 1st, thereafter at $3.00/day.

A video of the bulls will be on blackharvest.ca along with weights and scrotals when available. It will also be available on facebook.

I can honestly say this is the best bull we have ever used on this farm. His third calf crop is coming now and he is a hands off type of calving ease bull. He also passes on his thickness and easy keeping ability. He has a large foot and deep heel. His first daughters are calving and look to be the type you want a whole herd of.

Replacement Heifers

We are selling 10 Purebred replacement heifers as commercials. They are selected from 52 that we kept at weaning. They will sell choice so you can pick one or two or take them all. If you are interested, registration papers can be transferred. Heifers have to be picked up from the auction mart. Tattoos will be on our website in early March.

Phillips Farms Charolais Welcome to the Alameda Bull Sale. Kristy and I, along with our three children, Keira, Kade and Kris, are very excited about another bull sale season. At this time, I would like to thank all our buyers, all who bid and attended the Alameda Bull Sale last year. We truly couldn’t keep doing this if it wasn’t for all of you.

This year Phillips Farms offering consists of some bulls out of a bull, Hurricane. He is a bull that has proven to work for your calving ease needs. The other bulls on offer are the first calves our of our new herdsire, Elder’s Candid. He is an Encore son out of an Agribition Champion a few years ago. We are impressed with the smooth front-ends on all his calves, the birthweights and the extra punch that he seems to throw in his calves.

These bulls have been on an oats and barley ration with free choice brome and alfalfa mix hay from the time they are weaned to sale time. Our goal is to breed and feed for longevity in our bulls.

Once again, Phillips Farms Charolais, will deduct $100.00 off the purchase price if you take your bull or bulls home sale day.

Any bulls returning to Phillips Farms must be insured. Bulls returning to Phillips Farms are asked to be accepted for delivery or pick up by May 1st. We will deliver up to 300 km free of charge, any further becomes the expense of the buyer for other trucking arrangements.

Kristy and I are pleased to be working with Brenda, Cecil and their family. I would also like to welcome Tableland Cattle Co, Wade and Heather Brokenshire and family. We have known Wade and Heather for years and, as do most people, through their show steers and Simmentals that they raise and show.

Tableland Cattle Co. We would like to welcome you to the Alameda Bull Sale. We are extremely happy to be participating in the longstanding Alameda Bull Sale. It delights us to be joining our long-time friends and neighbors – the Mantei and Phillips Families. It is a great sale combining Angus, Charolais and now Simmental breeds.

We are a family run operation. Wade works full time off the farm and that leaves Heather and the Kids – Colten, Cooper and Casie to “man” the ranch. Because of this, certain cattle traits have been selected and a program has been built around them. Calving ease is first and foremost. The mama ain’t happy if she has to mess around pulling calves. Secondly, disposition in both the cows and herd bulls is also imperative. This has been built into our program for generations. Our kids, from the time they could sit up or walk, have always been in a tractor or out in the barn yard; therefore, the need for quiet dispositions. Another trait we have concentrated on is longevity. We have customers whose bulls are routinely lasting six, seven and eight years. Replacing herd bulls due to structural break-downs and excess feed as youngsters is a costly venture. Another trait is low maintenance. We expect our cows and herd bulls to maintain strictly on hay and high quality chelated minerals. NO grain or TMR; nothing besides a grass mix hay. We want them to maintain, do their job and even get fat on good ol’ hay. Those that can’t hack it don’t last long at our place.

And lastly, good udders…they are a necessity not an option. The surest way to a one-way ticket out is for Heather to have to help a calf suck a bad udder. That’s a guaranteed permanent vacation to Neverland. Ruthless culling brings about uniformity.

These bulls have been brought along slowly. Good quality hay makes up most of their daily diet. Grain is kept to a minimum, just enough to grow and develop. They are fed with hand filled pails that are weighed and adjusted with each fresh load of feed. These bulls have been raised like we are using them for ourselves and we want them to work and to last.

We will follow the lead of Mantei’s and Phillips’ and apply a $100 discount off the purchase price should you take your purchase home sale day.

We ask that any bulls returning to our place be insured. Arrangements will be made for delivery by May 1st. Tableland will deliver bulls up to 300 kms free of charge.

Another pen favorite off the Big League Bull. The cool thing about this bull is he is out of a never miss cow family. His dam has always raised one of the top calves right from her first attempt. A maternal sister sired by Predator was sold to Rancier Farms, Killam Alberta as a bred heifer. Her second calf was purchased by Matt Lautner of Adelle, Iowa. We have retained her third and fourth daughters in the herd. And now this guy. He is stout, hairy and has that extra look and style that we love to raise.

114Y is a Route One daughter with a beautiful udder. Route One left his mark here with a tremendous set of daughters, great calving ease and beautiful udders. Ask Chad Ross about his now eight year old Route One sons still walking the pastures at L7 Ranch. They have stood the test of time.

This is Casie’s little bull off her show cow she affectionately calls “Sugar”. Sugar was breed champion manytimes when Casie showed her as a bred heifer. She went on to win Grand Champion Female at the competitive Estevan 4-H Regional. We used Rich Ray to add foot size, build on soundness and give us a show ring look.

Mega Money is a lighter boned bull that would be perfect for someone wanting to try out a Simmental but not risk heavy bone and a potential calving ease risk. His sire, Profit has sired more high sellers than any bull out there. Semen is in short supply and recently is bringing as much as $1300 per straw. Stout, hairy and a great disposition. His overall depth of body has to be appreciated. He’s out of a front pasture, Buckcherry female that could wear a halter any day of the week. This bull is special. He combines power in his pedigree and is line bred to the great Wheatland 680S. He is a lot like his sire. When we purchased Big League we fell in love with his huge sound foot, overall mass and soundness. He also had a great cow as a mother. He is impressive to look at. He’s stout and has super presence to him. We will be calving out his first daughters this year. Switchblade’s dam is one of our never miss, infamous PTO daughters. Our PTO daughters are the cornerstone of our show steer program. Most of the past champion steers are out of PTO daughters or granddaughters. Even at 10 and 11 years of age they are showing no signs of slowing down. They are the right kind and produce regardless of how bred.
