Buster’s dam is one of the top producing cows in our herd, as well as being our summer fair show cow for the past number of years. She is a very deep bodied cow, with a nice udder and very easy fleshing. We have AI’d her the past three years and she catches to the first service every time, so, fertility is high and she clicks with any bull. The sire, Muridale Buster 14K, needs no introduction, as he is a noted AI sire who transmits good fleshing ability, docility, a polled head and as much muscle expression as any bull available today. We used Buster 9W on our yearling heifers this year and he held his condition very well. Uphill Buster 9W was Reserve Junior Bull Calf at Agribition 2009, where he impressed cattlemen with his muscling and overall thickness. We wish to retain an inherd semen interest in this bull. Sugar Plum just keeps on producing the good ones and the Saskvalley Tracer 17T combination is exceptional. Length, depth, rear quarter, muscle, easy doing, performance, short gestation and an excellent temperament. Colin bought Sugar Plum as a heifer calf. She did not disappoint him. She is proof that ranch raised can take you to the winner’s circle! This year, they were Reserve Champion Female at the CJSA Show in Vermilion, Alberta; Grand Champion, Prince Albert Exhibition; XCalibre was Reserve Champion Bull at both shows. Colin will be retaining ¼ semen interest and 100 straws for Inherd semen use only, at the new owner’s convenience and our expense. X-Calibre is THF by pedigree, Asterisk Free, Parentage DNA on file. The pair will be shown at Lloydminster Stockade Roundup and Regina Agribition.

This bull calf looks like his sire, 20S, who is breeding extremely well. His dam, 46L, is also the mother of the sire of Just Right 4W who sold in 2009 to Australia.

Xclusive 28X is a calf that we are proud to offer. His dam has produced other Agribition exhibits and as an 11 year old, she still maintains a perfect udder and feet. 28X displays a lot of muscle, complete with a correct, functional phenotype. With an 88 pound birth weight, we think he can be used with great confidence for calving ease coupled with performance and maternal predictability.

Butterfield Lady 13N continues her amazing production record with another top end heifer calf. The ¾ sister to this heifer was a past high seller for us to Andy Hadway and Jordan Buba. She had a huge show season last year, ending with Reserve Champion Female at Agribition. Another half sister took home some banners for us and produced the Reserve Champion Yearling at Junior Nationals this summer for Becca Scheidt. The 11T bull is out of a Farm Fair Champion Female who also raised a Junior National champion for us. This cow family’s ability to consistently produce quality females is what put 13N in the donor pen, and thrust the Godivas to the top of our program. Sells with 2 straws of DF Pure Gold 3N semen.

The dam of this female is a first calf heifer…wow, what a job! The sire of 8X’s dam, Shadybrook Anchor, has left us a tremendous set of females. They have lots of hip with a pelvis like an old cow…real calving machines. We wanted to use the grandsire of this heifer, DFS Red Rider 844 but semen was not available in Canada, so when Proud Augustus 707 became available through Semex, we jumped on board and are glad we did. You have to admire the tremendous width of hip and top on this heifer; all of the 707 calves we have are the same in this respect, along with great show ring appeal. If you are looking for a red neck, roan heifer to drag around, take a serious look at this calf…she won’t disappoint. TH Free

Chris Poley picked out 5X the moment he walked into the pasture. She has been a favorite with visitors all summer. Sired by the National Champion, Saskvalley Pioneer and out of the powerful donor 0128L who was Division 10 Champion at the Ohio Beef Expo and went on to an impressive career here in Canada. Glenrothes Shorthorns, Horseshoe Creek Farms and Stan and Ryan Gilchrist have already selected the genetics of 0128L. Mistress 5X is soft made, easy fleshing and incredibly deep and capacious in her design. This is serious show heifer potential and a future donor prospect to boot. C-Co Farms, Beiseker, purchased half interest in a full sibling this fall; we decided to save the best one for the National Sale. Investment opportunity!

This picture was taken August 16 and she has only gotten better since! Here is style and easy fleshing, yet loaded with big growthy Shorthorns in her background that should ensure she and her offspring will have the pounds to put the profit in your pocket. Her grand dam was shown as a calf, yearling, two-year old and cow at Agribition for a total of five times. At her last showing in 2009, she tipped the scale at 2100 pounds, a big beautiful feminine cow admired by many. This sale heifer's maternal grandsire was home raised and admired by cattlemen for his fluid walk and excellent feet and legs. He certainly impressed the veterinarian, when we collected him a few days before he was shipped at a weight of 3055 pounds. My Katie line is my best working line of females, with moderate birth weights and consistent calving. You can see this sale heifer's dam, as we will show her with her calf at Agribition. For a heifer that puts it all together, give Katie 8X a try. I would love to have her stay in my herd.

Lassie 9W is a deep wide sprung daughter of Saskvalley Piston 186 P. She has tremendous shape of rib and carries her thickness nice and low through her lower quarter. The Piston bull needs no introduction as he is siring moderate easy fleshing cattle that are right for today’s industry. The Lassie cow family has been in our herd for a long time producing cattle that work. Many of the breeds top sires pop up in her pedigree, Dunbeacon Venture, MF Traveler 501, Gus 85C, and High Stakes to name a few. Lassie 9W was a class winner at the 2010 National Junior Female Show held at Vermilion, AB. Bred to JT Walton 36W on May 13, 2010. Walton was the high selling bull of the Poplar Park consignment at the Sun Country Bull Sale. He is a red polled double bred Burwash son that we feel is going to be a calving ease sire. As a calf, we purchased 1W from Bar C Shorthorns, sired by a clean Gringo son. She is bred by a son of our best producing cow, so we expect a great outcross calf from this mating. Bred to Semiahmoo Weston 14W for a January 20, 2011 calf.

13 FEB 2009

Sophia is the kind of heifer we like, right from the pasture in September. We sold her grand mother at Agribition, bred to our Prince 42P bull. The next year, we bought back the heifer calf at Agribition. Now, we are offering her good yearling heifer, bred to Glenford Real World 45S.

The Fizz bull from Schrags Shorthorn is a genetic full sibling to the great Little Cedar Aviator whose progeny have been dominating the show ring for the past few years. During Daisy’s show career, she also has been turning heads and catching the eyes of judges and cattlemen alike; being competitive as a yearling, also being Reserve Grand Champion Female at 2008 Canadian Western Agribition as a two year old. Her progeny have been carrying on this tradition; JTLL White Ice 26W was named 2009 National Junior Heifer Calf Champion at Farmfair, as well as Junior Calf Champion at 2009 Agribition for her new owner, Nostadt Stock Farms of Ontario. White Ice 26W is a powerful, sharp fronted, eye appealing show heifer with future donor status in her sights. She is a full sibling to these embryos, so it is with great confidence we offer this genetic opportunity. The resulting calf will be 93.8% in Canada.

This mating of Buster and Leah is sure to produce some excellent offspring. Buster has developed a reputation as a calving ease sire, but also a sire of outstanding calves of both sexes. The Buster daughters in the Muridale herd are simply outstanding, with moderate frame, body mass, fleshing ability and flawless udders. His sons can be found leading purebred and commercial herds alike.

Six S Leah 55L came out of the Butterfield dispersal, where she had developed a record of being one of the top producing females. Since we have purchased her, she has continued to prove her breeding ability and has become the most prolific donor we ever owned. We have already sold embryos to five countries from her. Leah is one of the thickest and easiest fleshing cows we have ever seen. We have two of her offspring in our show herd this fall, so you can see what she can produce. We feel that Leah is one of the most influential females we have ever owned, and we expect she will have much more impact in the breed well into the future.

We will guarantee a minimum of 2 pregnancies at 70 days from these 4 embryos providing an experienced Embryo Technician is used. The resulting calves will have non asterisk pedigrees in the Closed Herdbook of the Canadian Shorthorn Association. We believe in these genetics enough that we would consider a joint venture with the buyer. Contact us for more details.

These embryos represent a very unique opportunity as they represent the last time this combination of genetics will ever be offered anywhere. They are sired by Highfield Irish Mist who was the first sire from the Irish Shorthorn strain that was imported into Canada and he wrote many chapters of breed history. Irish Mist can still be found in the background of many of today’s best cattle, and often times he is found many times over. The dam of these embryos, Daffodil 13Z, was truly an amazing female, and many people consider her to be the best female ever produced in the River Acres herd. Two flushmate bulls to these embryos were used in the River Acres herd, and they were sired many outstanding offspring. A flushmate sister, River Acres Daffodil 5H, is a donor at Horseshoe Creek and Fantasy Lane, and she has offspring in 5 countries now. You can purchase these embryos with the confidence that the resulting offspring will not only be uniquely bred, but also true foundation genetics.
