Canadian Western Agribition Charolais Sale

Page 1

from the desk at T Bar... Welcome to Canadian Western Agribition and the Charolais show and sale. Agribition is Canada’s showplace for the finest genetics and seed stock in the world, all presented under one roof. The sale lineup for the 2017 sale is dynamic to say the least…packed full of breed program changers with limited risk and endless reward. Whether you are looking to add a new herd sire to propel your program to the forefront…a front pasture female with donor credentials…a show prospect that will be competitive and develop into a donor…or a flush…unlimited opportunities await. Investing in Charolais for a program is a “no-brainer!” For decades, Charolais sired calves continue to lead the market place in price and pounds…and that basis will continue for the ranchers of our nation. On the purebred side, in many cases the first bull calf will pay for or exceed the purchase price of the mother under good management. Where the problem lies is in supply…the Charolais breeders of Canada cannot produce enough good bulls to supply demand...nice problem, eh! The 2017 Agribition Charolais sale is one of the finest ever offered in the breed, take advantage of this world class genetic pool, it has endless opportunities! If we may be of any assistance, prior to or sale day, do not hesitate to contact any of the T Bar Team or myself…we will be pleased to assist in a professional manner.

After a hotly contested battle, we were fortunate enough to acquire SOS JESSICAH 34B! She was the high selling cow in Canada for 2016. The type of cow we strive for here at McKeary Charolais: loads of body, lots of hair, heavy milking from a perfect udder, and from a STANDOUT cow family. We are excited to consign a flush in 34B to the CWA sale, and are confident this purchase will prove to be a valuable investment. If you so choose, you are welcome to use any bull in the McKeary or Springside program. This purchase could yield huge DIVIDENDS. Guarantee of 6 Grade 1 freezable eggs. Flush to be performed at Bow Valley Genetics or Davis-Rairdan.

Hard to part with a heifer calf out of this cow family but we wanted to feature the first calf crop sired by MVY All Shock Up 18C and we thought there was no better way than to offer this heifer calf. Like her Agribition Supreme winning grandmother and mother, this heifer has as much volume and capacity as you will find in any Charolais female. Take advantage of this opportunity to be able to purchase a female from this cow family because we won’t offer them for sale very often. Selling Full Interest and Full Possession.

2017 Summer Synergy Grand Champion Charolais Female. 558C was the heifer calf on the side of Desirae 012, two times Agribition Champion, when she was crowned 2015 Agribition Supreme Champion Female. She is also the oldest daughter of CML Distinction 318A who was the 2015 Agribition Grand Champion Bull. Her pedigree is stacked with consistent producing, show winning individuals. Here’s your opportunity to flush this exceptional female to the bull of your choice and get 5 embryos.

2017 Olds Fall Classic Grand Champion Charolais Female. Watch for her as our entry in the First Ladies Classic at Agribition. 669D is also out of Desirae 012, two times Agribition Champion and 2015 Agribition Supreme Champion Female. She is sired by CML Gunslinger 410B, the $30,000 son of Gerrard Pastor 35Z and Target Pld Ginny 40P that sold to Wells Charolais, SD. 669D could easily be the best yearling heifer we have ever taken out on the show road. Her full sister, 659D was 2016 Farmfair Legends of the Fall Heifer Calf Champion. Here’s your opportunity to flush this exceptional female to the bull of your choice and get 5 embryos.

If you chose one of the five embryo packages, the flush would be done at Davis-Rairdan Embryo in the spring of 2018 after they calve and McLeod Livestock will pay all flush expenses. McLeod Livestock will keep all embryos over five. The buyer will be responsible for supplying the semen for the flush, or they can use any McLeod Livestock herdsire at no additional cost. McLeod Livestock will guarantee a minimum of two pregnancies if the work is done at DRI and the embryos are put into DRI recipients. McLeod Livestock can make the arrangements for recipients. Talk about one smoking hot momma! This is one of our first ever consignments to this sale and we didn’t mess around with bringing you anything but our best. This cow is a legit maternal machine. She raised three outstanding bull calves for us in a row and she’s definitely one that deserved to be promoted to the donor pen. In her first flush, she produced 16 embryos and as we write this, we are setting her up to be flushed again! But let’s back up a bit; before she made her way to the donor pen, she was Reserve Champion Charolais Female as a bred heifer at Farmfair in 2014 and won the Charolais Bred Heifer Futurity that year. She then went on to raise ONL Daddy Cool 4C, who was named Reserve Champion Charolais Bull at Farmfair as a calf and he is back in the show ring as a two year old. She has also raised two more herd-sire quality bulls! One sold in our bull sale last year and one will be in 2018 bull sale. She has a beautifully balanced udder with excellent attachment and no shortage of milk! She has lots of body and is good-footed. She’s already proving herself as a grand dam too; we are thrilled with our Daddy Cool calves! The Charolais breed is well noted for being a terminal cross, but this is the type of female that proves there’s a lot of maternal power to this breed too! If you want to add femininity, style and milk, without sufficing power and growth, have a look at this female and don’t miss out on this opportunity! Like us at Daines Cattle and O’Neill Livestock for updated pictures and videos. 30A as a two year old *Guaranteeing 6 embryos, with no limit. All flush expenses are at the cost of the buyer. Flush to be completed at Sundown Livestock Transplants, unless otherwise negotiated. Flush date can be arranged for fresh embryo transfer. Semen on our herd sires available for the flush if desired.

It doesn’t get any sweeter than this! Sweet State is sweet to look at, has a sweet disposition and comes loaded with a sweet pedigree! This is one of our first ever consignments to this sale; she comes straight from the top of the pen and is one that is beyond hard to sell. This female is a true testament of our relentless commitment to quality. She is a sound, well-balanced heifer with lots of power and loads of style! The 927W cow has had a tremendous influence on our herd. We have used a son of hers, KCM Spectacular Bid 240Z, as a herd sire and he has done an awesome job for us. The last female we sold out of the 927W cow, ONL Obsession 5C, went to EMB Charolais of Ontario, and she went on to be the National Champion Charolais Bred Heifer at the Royal in 2016. 927W is an easy-doing tank of a cow that has lots of milk and style herself . . . one could say that Sweet State “got it from her momma!” On her sire’s side, the success of the Keys All State progeny is certainly noteworthy. Sweet State has always been good haired, even in the unrelenting heat of this past summer she had lots of hair. If you are looking for a serious show prospect that will walk out of the show ring and into the donor pen, this is a heifer you don’t want to miss! What an extraordinary female!!! This is a hard one to sell. She is so striking and attractive, yet she displays incredible mass and volume. Her sire, Crowd Favourite was one of the most talked about bulls of 2016 and was one of the most anticipated calf crops of 2017. The mating of Doubletree and Crowd Favourite was a home run in our minds that we feel has produced females that will go on and do great things. 720E is maternally backed by the great Paris cow family and a super hard working dam with an excellent udder. Fancy is a front pasture female with show ring presence that great things can be built on!

The Semen Auction is a fundraiser run by the Canadian Charolais Youth Association (CCYA), where semen from top bulls in the breed is generously donated from various breeders across the country. All funds directly support the youth. The semen donated is auctioned off at one of the fall sales, and all proceeds go towards programs of the National Board. Particularly, leadership scholarships are presented at the conference and show from funds raised through the Semen Auction, recognizing senior members on their contribution to the Charolais breed and their leadership among other Charolais youth members. The CCYA National Board would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported in the past for making our programs and scholarship opportunities possible for our youth.
