...Over the past years making the summer tour throughout Eastern Canada, the most often asked question is...”What did you see at Jack’s?” There is no doubt Medonte Highlands Polled Herefords breed and raise some of the most competitive Herefords in the nation but lately, the question is slanted to... “What bull calf did you like?” Autumn Alliance is now in its thirty-second year, is the longest running female sale in Canada and its success makes this sale...” the event of the year!” It is the anchor of the Ontario Hereford Weekend and the ambiance and hospitality is unrivalled. But the significance to Autumn Alliance is the great Medonte Highland breeding program and what it has added in value to the Polled Hereford industry.
Although many customers attend to buy a sassy show heifer or a young bred female for a foundation cow, since 2006 this program has bred and raised a host of significant herd sires that are changing the landscape for their new owners throughout North America. These sires have been competitive on the tanbark and have passed on that competitiveness in the progeny. Without overshadowing the rest, I must mention MHPH 521X Action 106A... the “most kicked-up” bull of the 2013 show season (mostly by breeders of other breeds). The first services on this up and coming superstar will be available at Autumn Alliance XXXII. What about the bull calves in the offering for 2014... plan to attend and make your own decisions but if you are unable to attend, don’t be afraid to call us. The female lineup is stellar in all divisions and has a very competitive nature. In addition, the guest consignors have put their best step forward ensuring a value added offering from start to finish. Since the livestock industry is experiencing alltime highs and going higher as the restocking of the North American cow herd begins... those who have quality inventory are those who will benefit... and you will again hear the phrase... “Boy they are lucky, they have cattle.” Autumn Alliance is a must-make event! At this time of September, mother nature shows off her brilliance and beauty on the Medonte Hills. Plan to stop by the farm the evening prior, preview the offering while enjoying some hospitality... and for those who are attending for the first time, don’t miss the traditional breakfast sale morning. Action was the most used service sire in our 2014 breeding program.
