You can be assured that the quality of this offering runs deep in every category, whether you are looking for a show heifer or a foundation bred female. It has been a very successful whirlwind year for the O’Connors. Hosting a very successful Beef-A-Rama Junior show....Rob establishing a great new farm show....and a strong bull sale. But their year started last fall in Brandon, as ANL A XLP Action ET 75Z was declared Supreme Champion....then capturing the Senior and Reserve Championship at Agribition and being a top ten finalist in the RBC Supreme! Admired by virtually every livestock enthusiast, “Action” did not disappoint as his first crop of calves were very dominant at their unveiling at the Southeast Field Day. Dear Hereford Friends and Fellow Cattlemen,

e would like to welcome you to the 2015 edition of the Hereford Harvest Sale. This sale was created as an avenue for owners of moderate sized and new purebred herds to showcase their programs; from people who have invested in the breed, continually improving their herds. They all have a good eye for breeding stock; in fact herd bulls for Mission Ridge, HMS Hi-Cliffe and ourselves all achieved champion status at the National Show over the past four years. And the great placings have continued this summer as we have won champions at both the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Mark of Excellence Field day shows and Beef-A-Rama. This group of breeders has a great amount of enthusiasm and knowledge.
This year’s offering is a fantastic group of young females. I invite you to read through this catalogue and notice the diverse genetics. There are animals offered for sale on October 16 that can work in anyone’s program. And there has never been a better time to invest in Hereford genetics. Whether it be into cowherds or at the stockyards the Hereford influence is selling at higher prices it seems by the week. Cattle purchased last fall have appreciated in value! We have always recognized the importance of the Junior Hereford Association. The Hereford Harvest Sale is please to participate in the Heifer lottery program. Dawn and I are proud to have organized and hosted the SJHA Beef-A-Rama for the fifth straight year (Dawn did the lion’s share of the work while I was away at Ag in Motion). For the fifth year in a row the show had more sponsors, more participants with more cattle exhibited. We were also honoured the SHA Annual meeting on July 11. Regarding the Lone Pine Cattle consignment we are pleased to feature daughters of Agribition’s RBC Supreme Challenge top ten finalist and Reserve Champion Hereford bull ANL A XLP ACTION ET 75Z. He was also crowned Supreme Champion bull at Manitoba’s Ag-Ex. What’s even better than winning with ACTION is the acceptance we are having with his calves. I’ve already heard people comment that he is breeding champions. We are also showcasing XLP 134S DIESEL 145X. This bull adds a great amount of depth along with maybe the strongest spine of any bull I have raised. And we are offering genetics from each bull in our program. If you want to see how their calves grow I invite you to look at our pen of sale bulls. Besides ACTION we bred most of the sale cattle to MATADOR, TRIBUTE and TWENTY TWELVE. All three are dark coloured, pigmented show quality bulls. MATADOR was our lead off sale bull last fall selling to our neighbours Dwayne and Carla Flaman. We are happy to have kept an interest in the bull and fortunate to have such great partners who are willing to work with us. TRIBUTE himself has an outstanding show record. After a great telephone conversation with John Bosnjak, we fully realized the true value of this bull’s pedigree. We’re thrilled that John came on as our first investor in him. TWENTY TWELVE is a bull I fell in love with the first time I saw him. He offers new light birth weight genetics to our program in a very attractive phenotype. Building on last year’s successful showing of ACTION 75Z we felt we should highlight some of his daughters in the production sale this year. Therefore we decided to offer three of his top daughters as the first lots in the sale this year. The first lot is one of our favorites. She is a member of the Connie family and her dam is sired by P606 the great maternal bull. I am proud of what we have accomplished with 40C, in my opinion she is the improvement over her other family members that the next generation is supposed to be. The high seller at last year’s edition of the Hereford Harvest sale was a member of the Reese family going to Medonte Highlands Polled Herefords in Ontario. It makes perfect sense to offer another member of this impressive family this year, even if I would prefer to keep her for my own herd. I think this ACTION daughter is a sure fire show heifer. She has a fantastic front end just like her dam. Her cow family was started at Star Lake Ranch where the KAIREE females were often sale features and show winners. We don’t often offer members of the Blanche cow family for sale the last one being the high selling cow in the 2014 sale. This family has been so strong for many herds and we are fortunate to be its home since the WTK dispersal. We partnered with a group of breeders to purchase 55G, 119C’s grand dam. She was the high selling calf in Canada. Since investing in this family it has produced several herd sires and sale high sellers for us. It was a great decision. Add in her paternal grand dam RITA 38T and Blanche 119C could become the next great producing female in the breed.

Heifer Calves with their Mothers Saphire 171C is a light birth weight animal. She has the same look as her mother. She will make a great starter female for a new 4-H enthusiast or replacement female for the senior breeder. Saphire 71A is a deep bodied female. She has a nice tidy, square udder. She is dark coloured and marked properly. Best of all she has a great disposition. She is so gentle that our three year old daughter Jessica showed Saphire as a calf and yearling at our local summer fair and Beef-a-Rama. You will enjoy owning this young cow. I found that the Hereford bull Starbuck offered more depth and muscle shape than any other at the time his semen was available through Semex. One of his top sons was Full Tank 134S. I was able to acquire what I think is his best son through a service to 38T when I purchased her. Diesel produces moderate framed cattle with extra middle and muscle shape. I am excited to calve out his first daughters this next year. If they turn out to be cows like 38T, then I will have achieved the cow herd I have strived to produce.

Ricky 38A is the son of Mr. Hereford 11X that we used in 2014 on main group of heifers. He is cherry red in colour, fully pigmented and has a moderate birth weight. I really like his muscle shape and head. He is a good masculine bull. His maternal brother is DOC HOLIDAY, the high selling bull in the Canada’s Red, White and Black Bull Sale. He is also a maternal brother to DIESEL 145X. RITA 38T is his dam. She has proven to be a great producer. Three of her sons have been used in this herd and the fourth was sold to Kazakhstan. Since we don’t have any 719T genetics in our herd, we thought he would be a useful addition as our junior herdsire.

This is a bull that offers the beef industry everything it needs in a heifer bull. A low birth weight of 76 lbs. Excellent muscle shape. Full pigment. Moderate frame. An added bonus is his dark coloring. This guy has a fantastic mother that was originally purchased from Lian Mor Farm in Ontario. She was a former show heifer but I bought her because I remembered a visit to Wally and Fern’s herd where I saw her grandmother Crystal Belle 108C. In my mind she was the perfect cow. Nice tight udder with small teats, long body and feminine front end. She was ahead of her time. 108A is a bull calf that exhibits that same type of length and style and I expect his daughters will too.

This bull is a true testament to the breeding decisions of many of the best polled Hereford breeders the Hereford breed has ever had. His pedigree is stacked with individuals who have proven to be the best breeding individuals of their generations. When John Bosnjak became partners with us in this bull, it was his excellent idea to change 707B’s name from Gordon to TRIBUTE to honor all those great breeders who are documented in his pedigree. Yet his pedigree is different from most of today’s “High EPD” bulls and that makes him very useful. In fact he can add to what many of these bulls are lacking such as pigment, hair color, bone and joint type. He has been crowned Champion Bull at the South East Saskatchewan Mark of Excellence Show, Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the Manitoba Livestock Expo, and most recently Lexie showed him to Grand Champion Bull at Beef-A-Rama. This is proof of his excellent structure and eye appeal. As you can see we are very excited about the positive ways TRIBUTE will influence our herd and the breed. He ran with both heifers and cows this spring.

For the past number of years, I have wanted to add genetics to our herd from Ned and Jan Ward’s Ladysport cow family. Even though I was unsuccessful in my attempt to purchase this son in their bull sale, I was able to acquire semen for use in our herd. He is a light birth weight individual. I appreciate his color, depth of body and not to mention his father is one of the most popular bulls in recent times. The fact that he is homozygous polled is another benefit. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.
All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co.
