At Benlock Farms...

Wow 50 Years... this marks 50 years breeding Angus cattle, and I feel like I’m just getting started. I’ve always felt that one of the reasons there are so many good people in the livestock business, is because it captures people that love a challenge. Breeding cattle, you never quite get there, there’s always something to improve on. Over all these years, one thing has remained constant here, the development of genetics to strengthen the commercial mens bottom line. If I can give you any insights on the offering, to help you fulfill your needs, please call. I’m always happy to talk cows, and see our customers succeed.

Years of Visual Appraisal... moderate birth weights, breed leading early

growth and years of visual appraisal. The cattlemans eye will always rule the roost in selecting breeding stock, or feeder calves at the yards. It’s satisfying to see a lifetime of work transfer itself through to the bull pen. Bulls with length, depth, natural shape, smooth shouldered, hair, on a strong foot, with fertility you can see and always that little extra style to catch your eye.

You don’t need a lifetime of work to do the same, you just need a good Benlock Bull.

We Sell Conceptions... 20 years ago I sold yearlings with 800lb. 205’s.

As my wife would say, after years of not knowing she could swim and then seeing a perfect front crawl. “It’s not that I don’t know how to, it’s that I choose not to”. It’s just not my thing. I like these big twos, grown out gentle and ready to work. You can have the biggest actual weights in the world, but if he’s standing in the bush with his head down, at breeding, doesn’t do much good.

Growth is only reproduced through conceptions. Conceptions with your new bull is our first priority. Quick note on EPD’s, I’m not a numbers guy, but if we can identify bulls that will better your calf crop weights, without excessive energy, that’s a good thing.

Speckle/Angus Cross... We’ve tested our speckles, cows that fit, like apple to apple, along side their angus counterparts in production. And speckle carcases tested up against angus in our retail for customer satisfaction.
