On behalf of my wife, Kristy, and our children, Keira, Kade and Kris, we would like to thank you all the people who bought, bid, attended and made the Alameda Bull Sale such a success for us last year. We are truly humbled by the support and interest we received on our first offering.

When I sat down to write this letter, I couldn’t help but think what a difference a year makes. With the record prices last year to what we got this past fall, there was quite a spread between the heavy calves and the lighter calves. In my opinion, cattlemen need to analyze your cow herds and make sure that your getting the most out of them by introducing those bulls that fit your cows and give you those higher weaning weights in the fall.

Once again, Phillips Farms Charolais will discount $100.00 off the purchase price if you take your purchase home sale day. Any bulls returning to our farm, we ask that you put insurance on them and that arrangements are made for bulls to be delivered by May 1st.

Phillips Farms will deliver bulls up to 300km free of charge, delivery past that will be the buyers responsibility.

If you are looking for a calving ease bull, this is the one. He’s out of a bull that Hunter Charolais use on their heifers called Zone Point. Judging on this calf’s birth weight, I can see why.

Thanks to anyone who has bought a bull from us. It is your support that keeps us going in this business. Our bulls are fully vaccinated and poured for parasites. They start on creep about a month before weaning then are fed screening pellets and long hay. They will be semen tested and guaranteed. We will keep them until May 1st free of charge and thereafter at $3/day. Bulls returning to the farm should be insured and after May 1st have to be picked up.

Any bulls going home with the buyers, on sale day, will be discounted $100.

Welcome to our annual Alameda Bull Sale. First off, please note that our sale has now been moved to the Friday, rather than the usual Saturday. Today we are pleased to offer you a nice selection of bulls to fit a variety of needs, Whether you are looking for a Calving ease bull, a Power bull, or a bull to add Maternal or Carcass strength to your herd, I believe we have you covered. The Herdsires we have used are all proven and predictable, and we are excited about this years line-up.

This years offering includes calves off our main herd sire, ‘SAV Angus Beef’. ‘Beefy’ has exceeded our expectations, and he exemplifies everything the Angus breed came to be known for. Calving ease, Maternal Greatness, Carcass, and Structural Soundness. He has the ability to produce stout bulls, and feminine beautiful uddered females. His first female sold was the High selling Female at the 2017 Power and Perfection sale at Agribition, and she had also been named Senior Champion Yearling. This bulls pedigree includes some of the most famous and dominant bulls in Angus history, including Bando 5175, SAV Density, and SAV Final Answer.

Other bulls used, include SAV Resource, Sooline Motive, and Town N’Country Pumpjack. All quality bulls that have the ability to boost your herd, and we are extremely pleased to offer them for your appraisal.

The dams of these bulls have to fit a certain criteria. They need to be excellent mothers with ideal udders. They must have a good temperament, and have the ability to walk a pasture and feed a calf without breaking down. All in all, they need to look good while working hard, be functional, and prove their worth.

Please don’t hesitate to ask questions about our bulls offered. I need our customers to go away feeling confident they made the right choice. As for Calving Ease vs Power Bulls, follow your gut instinct. You know your herd better than anybody, and you have a grasp on what your cows can do.

Terms & Conditions

TERMS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bigger and in cases of disputes the auctioneer’s decision will be final.

Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION Each animal will carry papers issued by the applicable breed association, unless otherwise noted. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

HEALTH All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

GUARANTEE Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in the sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the applicable breed association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

LIABILITIES All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The sellers, facility owner, auctioneer and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

DELIVERY Every assistance will be given in getting your purchases home. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

PHONE, MAIL WIRE BIDS Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, mail or wire their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

INSURANCE Agents will be in attendance to insure your purchases. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.
