Terms - Terms of the sale are cash or check payable during or after the sale and before cattle will be released. Cattle will not be transferred until paid in full. Each animal will be at the buyer’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. Delaney Herefords and/or Atkins Herefords will be retaining 1/4 semen interest on each bull selling.

Guarantee - All bulls will be semen tested and examined to be sound and guaranteed breeders. If an animal fails to breed and is reported to seller

by August 1, 2015, it may be returned to seller if in good condition and in compliance with Minnesota health regulations. Once the bull has been returned to the seller and confirmed that he is not a breeder, the seller will refund the purchase price.

Absentee Bidding - If you would like to place a bid but are unable to attend the sale, please direct your bid to any of the owners or sale staff.

You may also bid online as the sale will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.dvauction.com. See page 22 for more information.

Herd Health - All cattle will be sold in compliance with the health laws of the State of Minnesota. Health papers will be provided. Bulls will be tested for genetic defects by request at Seller’s expense.

Wintering & Delivery - Haul your own bull the day of the sale and receive $100. Free delivery on purchases of $5,000 or more to any one location within a 250 mile radius. We will cooperate on trucking expense outside of that area. For any bulls going to Canada, we will deliver to the nearest port of entry at our expense. For your convenience, you may winter your purchase(s) at Delaney Herefords FREE OF CHARGE through May 1, 2015.

Pregnant females will be calved out and bulls will be semen checked and tested. After May 1, 2015 a yardage charge of $3.00 per day will apply.

Insurance - Animals left at Delaney Herefords will be at the buyer’s risk immediately following the sale and we strongly recommend purchasing insurance. Contact Art Handel at (605) 391-8233 for your insurance needs.

Registration & Transfer - Registration certificates will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense. Each buyer must be sure to give the clerk the proper name and address for making transfers.

EPDs - EPDs listed in the catalog are the most current at time of catalog printing and are GE EPDs, that is all of the bulls have been genetically tested and the EPDs are Genomic Enhanced to provide the most accurate EPDs possible.

Welcome to our Fifth Annual Bull Sale!

We are extremely pleased with the set of bulls that we are offering this year. We have continued to improve EPD’s to fit the demands of our customers while at the same time producing bulls that are pleasing to the eye. The work that we have done to reduce birth weights while increasing performance and carcass traits is evidenced by the EPD trends of the sale bulls. In 2011 the average Birth Weight EPD of the sale bulls was above breed average at 4.3. This year the bulls average 2.8, which is BELOW breed average. During this same time period we have increased weaning, yearling and milk EPD’s along with improving our marbling and overall carcass traits.

We have always stressed udder quality in our herds. The American Hereford Association recently came out with EPD’s for udder quality. These can be seen on the EPD’s as US (Udder Suspension) and TS (Teat Size). We are very pleased to say that for the bulls selling the average US EPD is in the top 10% of the breed and the average TS EPD is in the top 15%. This is especially important as you select the sires of your next replacement females.

Many of the sale bulls are sired by Redeem, one of the top proven trait leaders in the breed. In addition you will notice that there are also many bulls sired by our new young herd bulls DiMaggio, 33Z and Ultimate. These bulls are helping us move the direction we want to take our herds.

This year All of the bulls selling have GE EPD’s (Genomic Enhanced EPD’s). What this means to you as buyers is that we have had each bull genetically tested to come up with the highest accuracy possible in the EPD’s of these young bulls.

The most obvious change in this year’s sale is the date. We decided to go with an earlier date to get away from calving and field work that can be an issue for an April sale. To help you with this early sale date we will keep all of the bulls on feed at Delaney Herefords free of charge until May 1. 2015. Prior to that date we will gather yearling weights and carcass data at no charge to the buyer and all bulls will be semen tested and fully guaranteed.

Many of the bulls cataloged will be members of our Denver carload. Candidates for the Carload are indicated on their pictures. We will be selling one of these bulls in the Mile High Sale in Denver, where the buyer will have the opportunity to pick their choice of the bulls. The rest will be offered to you January 26th. From vaccine protocol at weaning to bull fertility soundness exams and health papers going anywhere in the U.S. As many of you know, a trusted Veterinarian is essential in the cattle business.
