It is customary to think of I Ching as a wise master. If you form a question, that is honestly important to you, you will get an answer. It will be hidden in a combination of two three-line symbols. While you wander around, you can individually decipher the personal answer given to your question with the help of the actors who personalise your signs.

This Basque percussion group returns to the festival with Aker, the devil of the witches’ coven. The rhythm of the drums and fireworks can be heard from afar, but up close is best. The multicoloured sparks and the sound of the instruments are perfectly synchronised to create a fantastic show, where the percussion sounds answer to the fire, as in the pagan rituals of ancient times. The drums vibrate, the streets light up. Get ready... Performers/ Musicians: Rubén Sastre, Dario Campos, Iker Barrientos, Erlantz Eizmendi, Rafael Ariza, César Arroyo, Garbitxu

A group of youngsters between the ages of 6 and 18 transform their youthful energy into an explosive mixture of rhythms. Their groove is a metropolitan music mix in which they grew up in the neighbourhoods of Molenbeek, Brussels. Formed during the 1st Zinneke Parade in 2000, the group has built up an impressive record of achievements in Belgium and abroad. Mécanique Vivante (F): Le Chant des Sirènes

The astonishing project of Franz Clochard, The Sirens’ Song, bridges 19th century invention and 21st century robotics, creating a seven-piece polyphonic orchestra of musical sirens. This parade rolls through the streets on two locomotives that pump to the rhythm of the music like gangsta lowriders, thanks to a system of compressed air – a jubilant, captivating sight that is guaranteed to raise smiles. Artistic Director: Franz Clochard

Mimo Huenchulaf (CHL): A Smile can Change your Life

With Mimo, you can be part of a world without fear, where anything can happen. Paris Benarès (F): Chevâl

What is taming? It is actually the establishment of a link, and this is something that is often forgotten. Like the little prince and the fox, face to face, a dancer and Chevâl, a 3-meter- high horse puppet, try to tame each other. But making a connection takes time and patience. They meet, they observe each other, they are afraid, they get closer and they embrace. Chevâl is the meeting of man and animal, body and object, grace and mechanics. This oversized duo, wandering the festival’s roads, tells us a tale full of poetry and humour. Artistic and technical director: Patrice Verquére

PTE Brass Band (H)

10-13 AUGUST Sagals d’Osona (E): Castell

A castell is a human tower traditionally built at festivals in Catalonia, Spain, that has its origins back in the 19th century. These amazing constructions are about values like cooperation, convergence and care. In Catalonia, there are many groups who are actively part of this tradition, which was awarded the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity designation by UNESCO in 2010. Sagals d’Osona is one of the best groups of Castells and will present their tradition for us with more than 90 of its members.
