RELOCATION PLAN

PREFACE: The future of the Zabaleens Citizens within the city of Cairo, who enjoy most of the political, economic, cultural, religious, educational and green resources, with the Government firmly in control of policy decisions regarding the living environment, unequal attitudes towards disadvantaged groups, recycling as a mere form of welfare, and the control and semi-deportation of Zabaleens to remote areas to act as scavengers for the city.

After a history of precarious settlement and expulsion, the Zabaleens have taken refuge in the "rubbish city" at the foot of the muqattam mountains, where some 20,000 people currently live. In order to settle, almost all of them make a living by recycling rubbish, a job that has long been a source of hostility and ostracism for the majority of the Zabaleens, owing to the poor environmental conditions and the low incomes they earn.

However, if the policy "Slum clean-up campaign" is really conducted, where should the Zabaleens live?

Maybe that is the time for the Zabaleen to be parasitic in the city, considering the strong association between Cairo people and Zabaleens.

Although the Zabbalinese are responsible for 80% of Cairo's garbage disposal and are irreplaceable, they still face political and religious resistance。 Now, the Cairo government has decreed the eradication of slums......

RELATIONSHIPS recreational area

FIELD INVESTIGATION

CAIRO SPACE: First, three typical functional areas of the three Cairos were selected for further analysis, like living area, politicial area and recational area. It includes facilities available to Zabaleens and potentially usable space as a basis for future activities of Zabaleen.

TYPOLOGY: The available space was extracted, and the top, façade and bottom surface were used as the classification basis to find the parasitic places of the Zabaleen people, so as to propose a spatial strategy. For example, many buildings in Cairo are unroofed, and because of the problem of collecting taxes, the Zabaleen people have an opportunity.

Secondly, some empty and generally unused spaces such as squares and green spaces can be used as gathering places in Zabaleen.

FORMATION: Corresponding to the space found, the space with the characteristics of the Zabaleen people is implanted, and the results are shown in the picture. There is a unique spatial approach to the use of each face. For example, on the square, place some space needed for the religious activities of the Zabaleen; placement of "living-work complexes" on the roof; Even the façade was used so that the Zabaleens could collect garbage faster.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The focus of our community is to respond to the housing difficulties created by the future rapid population growth in the coastal areas.District 1 is located in the Marina Bay area of South East Singapore, adjacent to the CBD business district, with a full curved coastline and open to the outside world. It has become the ideal place to provide a green and harmonious, high-tech community for pre-housing in the face of increasing migration.

MULTI CONRNER OVERLAPPING CITY

Flexibility and adaptability are the fundamental concepts of the design, employing customisable elements. Following the growing growth of modular elements, the design consists of hexagonal elements and basic rules that run in sheets across the sea level to form a hybrid house, producing a complex and sophisticated infrastructure system, which realises the strategy of land to sea expansion. In addition to housing, we also provide a multi-level public space with a range of different functions, including office space, miniature botanical gardens and leisure activities. Finally, a new urban typology will emerge from the integration of multiple populations.

The transportation is convenient. Therefore, this design proposes a model to expand the marine residential area, with a single point as a breakthrough to guide residents to migrate from top to bottom.

Tr a n s f o r m i n g t h e e l e m e n t s i n t o a network, weaving and arranging them like a honeycomb, and furthermore, attempting to break down the internal structure, with hexagons wrapped around "special-shaped", cleverly blending the characteristics of the remaining shapes.

Compared with other geometric shapes, hexagons are more efficient in space utilization and avoid waste.

Finding inspiration from Brownian motion, the microscopic view of dots of the same colour as a unit, which are lumped together in a plane, is like pouring ink into water, where the elements quickly merge with each other to form irregular, integrated and permeable forms.

In the past, in order to increase national honour, the Government has taken measures such as demolition of shanty towns and building blocks to shift residents from water to land. Data shows that it has brought about a housing growth rate of about 350 per cent and excessive land development intensity over the past 30 years.However, with the growing population of future migrants and the inundation of 33 per cent of Singapore's coastal settlements by sea level 78 years later, the land was no longer fit for human habitation.

The space are neither too focused nor scattered,satisfying the needs of multiple functions.

The Quay Pier And Transport The entire community is accessible to visitors and residents in an orderly fashion via tentacle-shaped jetties, roads, and can be shuttled into the community from the inlet like a cave.

Public spaces and houses Hollowed out in hexagonal groups to form courtyards, with aerial green decks and strips that weave in and out of residential buildings, thus alleviating the overly dense living environment and speeding up vertical movement.

Bottom view The base is supported by slender structural columns that mimic and shape the feeling of being in a forest, and the occupants are placed above to create a public space at the bottom.

Mid-level view Unlike traditional paths, the green walkway in the sky is off the ground and weaves through residential areas at different heights, offering a wide range of views and convenience, making it a place for residents to relax after work or dinner.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION Xishuangbanna is China’s largest nature reserve, the unique topography and climate of the Himalayas provides a habitat for many animals, according to a survey, there are 99 nationally rare and protected animals in the reserve, of which 25% of the biological species are in danger, the deforestation of large areas has led to a drastic decline in the forest cover, and the rampant illegal poaching and hunting have made the rare animals dwindle to the brink of extinction.

LIGHT AND SHADOW UNDER ANIMALS

In order to help the animals in the forests of Xishuangbanna and to delay the decline of the forest cover, I introduced the concept of the degree of depression, and researched the roof construction to create the strength and angle of the light, and at the same time, added Dupont paper to simulate the sparse and dense canopy branches in the forest to form four different rhythms of activity, in the hope that through the tourists’ personal experience, in order to appeal to people to pay attention to and protect the forest animals.

External environment and animal activity scenes Unique mountain forests and reservoirs provide natural sanctuaries for rare animals such as wild elephants and chevrotains. The visitor is compared to a part of the element, implanted through the arc of the circle, symbiosis with light, plants and animals, forming a harmonious and natural ecological picture.

Based on the model of a central lake flooded with eddies, we introduced it from a high cave in the hope that people would stop and enjoy the natural starry sky and lake view, and made chairs of four different heights suitable for children, adults, and the elderly, making it a place to spend time together with nature.
