The ReadyChef story

Our story began in the 1960s, when William Tallon Snr set out with one simple goal – supplying the freshest produce to the foodservice sector. Over 60 years on, we’re still focused on the same purpose: delivering freshly prepped veg, fruit and salads to chefs across the island of Ireland.

We do this by sourcing quality produce from trusted growers, with over 73% sourced seasonally in Ireland.

We do it by preparing everything in-house at our dedicated facility – giving us full control from prep to delivery, fresher product and longer shelf life.

We do it by holding BRCGS AA accreditation with no exclusions, ensuring safety, consistency and reliability in every order.

We do it by working as a true partner to chefs – tailoring cuts and mixes to save labour, reduce waste and keep kitchens moving.

Wilson’s Country Co. Armagh

Wilson’s Country is one of Ireland’s best-known potato brands, operating from a 6-acre processing site in Co. Armagh. The business was started by Angus Wilson in the 1980s and continues to charm potato-lovers nationwide with the Wilson’s Country and You Say Potato brands.

Growing over 650 acres of lush, fertile soil in North County Dublin’s agricultural heartland at Lusk, John Thorne Jnr & Sons is widely recognised amongst the country’s leading producers of parsnips. Mark Taylor & Sons Co. Dublin

Mark Taylor and brother Alan are third-generation turnip farmers on 30 acres at Chapel Farm, Lusk in North County Dublin. Turnips are harvested twice a week for maximum freshness and sent direct to chefs across Ireland or to factories for processing. Once harvested the root vegetable is chilled, washed, trimmed and prepared immediately, giving chefs a quality product that saves on prep time. In 2014, the Taylor brothers also began growing fresh chillies under polythene, diversifying their crop offering and improving the farm’s sustainability.

Robert Carrick Co. Dublin

As a fourth generation grower, Robert has been growing broccoli on his family farm for many years. From more basic techniques to his grandparents’ revolutionary changes and, eventually, Robert’s current handling of the business, their family farm has been carefully tended to over the years.

Robert says: ‘Our broccoli is freshly picked each morning and as the orders come in, the broccoll is then packed to order. These orders are then placed in our specially designed cold-room. Each delivery is made that day and hopefully in the chef’s kitchen that same evening. Broccoli has a high nutritional value and is a versatile vegetable. A great serving suggestion is with melted butter & seasoned with flaked almonds. It has a typical shelf-life of 3-5 days once refrigerated.

Lyttle Leaves have earned a big reputation for their unwashed, locally grown baby salad leaves. The family-owned farm in Co. Down produces more than 20 tonnes of spinach, rocket, chard, red oak lettuce, and bulls blood a year, and have been doing so for more than 40 years. Because the salads are delivered unwashed, the leaves are longer-lasting, fresh and crispy.

Clarke’s Fresh Fruit Co. Meath

Established in 1960, Clarke’s Fresh Fruit has been hand-picking strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries for over 60 years, with an impeccable reputation for quality and freshness. Owner Pat Clarke began with 10 drills of strawberries on the family farm in Starmullen, and now farms 70 acres from May to November, employing over 170 staff. Stem-picking means that each strawberry is carefully nipped to avoid bruising, so every punnet arrives in its prime.
