CAST Lara Adria (she/her) (Mimi Marquez) is a senior actorsinger from Santa Barbara, CA. She is immensely grateful for the unwavering support of the Syracuse University Department of Drama and the brilliant friends/faculty that have contributed to her growth in and out of school. Previous Department of Drama credits include the small-scale productions of the world is hours and Magia, and the mainstage productions of What the Moon Saw and A Rebel Prayer. Tthis past summer she had a blast working at The Hangar Theatre in Ithaca on Eureka Day. You can catch her as Éponine in Les Misérables at Syracuse Stage this winter and find her at laraadria.com. Te amo, Mamãe! Andrej Alexander (he/him) (Benjamin Coffin III) is a senior B.F.A. actor-singer major from Minneapolis, Minnesota. His recent credits include covering Hans in the Syracuse Stage/Department of Drama co-production of Disney’s Frozen the Broadway Musical and John in John and Jen. Regional credits include the Children’s Theatre Company and Theater Latté Da in the Twin Cities. Carsten Kjaerulff (he/him) (Mark Cohen) is grateful for every day spent with this wonderful team. She is so grateful to her family, friends, and professors for their endless support and is thrilled to be part of this production. @gabriellevsa Katie Swansig (she/her) (Swing) is a sophomore musical theater major from Long Island, New York. This is her first production at the Department of Drama and she is so grateful for this wonderful experience with such a talented company. Jeff Sherwood (he/him) (Sound Designer) is an award-winning professional sound designer, composer, and educator and is thrilled to make his Syracuse University Department of Drama debut. Past credits include prop designer for Antigonick (Department of Drama), Set and Costumes for B.F.A.! (Black Box Players), and Costume Designer for The Spitfire Grill (Department of Drama). Kathleen Baum (Intimacy Coordinator) is an actor, movement coach, intimacy choreographer, and teacher. She has worked at theaters and training programs across the U.S. and internationally in Berlin, London, Toronto, Sao Paolo, Sydney, and Melbourne, among others. She has been on faculty at Emerson College and the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, and is currently on faculty in the Syracuse University Department of Drama. Sami Renea English (Stage Manager) is a senior stage management major from Mesa, Arizona. Stage management credits include: Tour Schoolhouse Rock LIVE! (Weston Theater Company), ...Humming In The Background (Department of Drama), In Sisters We Trust (Department of Drama), B.F.A.! (Black Box Players), New Works/New Voices (Department of Drama). Audrey Tresnan (she/her) (Dramaturg) is a sophomore Drama B.S. - Theater Management Major from King of Prussia, PA. She would like to thank her friends and family for being the best support system. Carlos Perez (Rehearsal Accompanist) is a first-year graduate student pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance at Syracuse University, originally from Barranquilla, Colombia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the National University of Colombia, where he also served as an undergraduate teaching assistant. As a collaborative pianist and chorister, his experience spans classical, jazz, and diverse styles, including performances with the Youth Philharmonic Choir of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra. RENT marks his debut with the Department of Drama, and he is grateful to the cast, crew, and creative team for the opportunity to collaborate on this production. AUTHOR Jonathan Larson received the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for RENT. He also won the 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 1994 Richard Rodgers Award for RENT and twice received The Gilman & Gonzales-Falla Theatre Foundation’s Comendation Award. In 1989 he was granted the Stephen Sondheim Award from American Music Theatre Festival, where he contributed to the musical Sitting on the Edge of the Future. In 1988 he won the Richard Rodgers Development Grant for his rock musical Superbia, which was staged at Playwrights Horizon. He composed the score for the musical J.P. Morgan Saves the Nation, which was presented by En Garde Arts in 1995. Mr. Larson performed his rock monologue tick, tick... BOOM! at Second Stage Theatre, The Village Gate and New York Theatre Workshop. In addition to scoring and song writing for Sesame Street, he created music for a number of children’s book-cassettes, including Steven Spielberg’s An American Tail and The Land Before Time. Other film scores include work for Rolling Stone’s magazine publisher Jann Wenner. He conceived, directed, and wrote four original songs for Away We Go!, a musical video for children. RENT, his rock opera based on La Boheme, had its world premiere on February 13, 1996 at New York Theatre Workshop. Mr. Larson died unexpectedly of an aortic aneurysm on January 25, 1996, ten days before his 36th birthday. His music (including songs cut from his shows) is archived in the Library of Congress. 13


DIRECTOR Melissa Crespo (she/her) is the Associate Artistic Director of Syracuse Stage. Prior credits: The Woman Question by Suli Holum (People’s Light), Relentless by Rae Binstock (Syracuse Stage), O.K.! by Christin Eve Cato (INTAR)—all world premiere productions. Upcoming: John Proctor is the Villain and Dust and Shadow: The Unravelling of Sherlock Holmes, both at Syracuse Stage. Melissa is a recipient of the Drama League Director’s Project 2026 TV/Film Fellowship and will work on an episode of Paramount’s Fire Country. Huge thanks to the Syracuse University Department of Drama for all of the support! MUSIC DIRECTOR Brian Cimmet has worked as Music Director for both the Department of Drama and Syracuse Stage since 2010. He is also a member of the full-time faculty and serves as Program Coordinator for Musical Theater. Outside of Syracuse, Brian’s credits include the Broadway companies of The Drowsy Chaperone, Mary Poppins, and Grease; the Off-Broadway companies of I Love You Because (also the cast album), The Tin Pan Alley Rag, Trust Bro, and Newsical; and a lifetime of summer stock and regional theater. CHOREOGRAPHER Cate Gould (she/her) (Choreographer, u/s: Maureen Johnson) is thrilled to be making her choreographer debut at the Syracuse University Department of Drama! A native Texan, Cate is currently a senior musical theater major and she proudly serves as the musical theater representative for the 2026/2027 season. M U S I C T H E AT R E I N T E R N AT I O N A L Music Theatre International (MTI) is one of the world’s leading theatrical licensing agencies, granting theatres from around the world the rights to perform the greatest selection of musicals from Broadway and beyond. Founded in 1952 by composer Frank Loesser and orchestrator Don Walker, MTI is a driving force in advancing musical theatre as a vibrant and engaging art form. MTI is particularly dedicated to educational theatre, and has created special collections to meet the needs of various types of performers and audiences. MTI’s Broadway Junior® shows are 30- and 60-minute musicals for performance by elementary and middle school-aged performers, while MTI’s School Editions are musicals annotated for performance by high school students. Launched in May 2025, MTI’s Broadway Senior™ musicals are geared and adapted for adult performers 55 and over. MTI maintains its global headquarters in New York City with additional offices in London (MTI Europe) and Melbourne (MTI Australasia).

C H A I R , D E PA R T M E N T O F D R A M A Eleanor Holdridge Off-Broadway productions include world premieres of Selma ’65 (LaMaMa), Steve & Idi (Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre), and Cycling Past The Matterhorn (Clurman Theatre). Regional world premieres include Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me A Soprano, David Grimm’s adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, Lauren Gunderson’s The Revolutionists (Cincinnati Playhouse), NNPN Rolling World Premieres of Lauren Gunderson’s Miss Bennett: Christmas at Pemberley and I and You, Meg Maroshnik’s Fickle: A Fancy French Farce, and Caleen Sinnette Jennings’ Queens Girl in the World (Theatre J). She has directed twenty-four of Shakespeare’s plays, some of them multiple times. Holdridge's upcoming directing projects include a workshop of Maggie Lou Radar’s The Best Little Cat House in Scab Holler for the Made in Cincy festival at Cincinnati Playhouse, a reading of her adaptation of Percy Bysshe Shelley’s The Cenci at The Red Bull Theatre in New York and a production of Ken Ludwig’s Death on the Nile at the Alley Theater in Houston, Texas.
