CANADA TO LOSE 12,500 OIL AND GAS JOBS IN 2019, REPORT PREDICTS, MOSTLY IN ALBERTA A new report says direct employment in Canada’s oil and gas sector is expected to fall by more than 12,000 jobs this year.

ONTARIO TO MANDATE ANTI-CARBON TAX STICKERS AT GAS PUMPS Ontario drivers could soon see governmentmandated stickers about the price of the carbon tax on gas pumps across the province, as the Progressive Conservatives open a new front in their battle with Ottawa over the levy.

ANTI-CARBON TAX STICKERS WILL COST ONTARIO GOVERNMENT AT LEAST $5K The Ontario government says it will spend approximately $5,000 to create 25,000 anti-carbon tax stickers it has ordered gas stations around the province to display.

GAS STATIONS COULD BE FINED UP TO $10K IF THEY DON’T DISPLAY ONTARIO GOVERNMENT CARBON TAX STICKERS Gas stations across Ontario could face steep penalties for failing to display government mandated stickers that display the cost of carbon tax, according to new legislation put forward by the Doug Ford government.

NO DETAILS ON HOW PROVINCE WILL ENFORCE GAS-PUMP STICKERS Decal detectives? Sticker SWAT teams? Pump patrols? The Progressive Conservatives are mum on how they will enforce a controversial plan to fine gasoline stations up to $10,000 a day for failing to post provincial stickers warning of the cost of federal carbon-pricing measures.

FEDERAL CARBON TAX COULD SEND N.B. MOTORISTS ACROSS BORDERS FOR GAS, EXPERT SAYS New Brunswick gas prices jumped by more than four cents a litre [April 1], with one expert predicting the federal carbon tax could push motorists across the province’s borders looking for cheaper gas.

ATLANTIC CONVENIENCE STORE ASSOCIATION WANTS P.E.I. PARTIES COMMITTED TO BEER AND WINE IN CORNER STORES The Atlantic Convenience Store Association is asking all parties running in the P.E.I. election to pledge to allow beer and wine to be sold in corner stores.

CHES CROSBIE THREATENS LEGAL ACTION TO PROTECT NL’S ‘ETHICAL’ OIL INDUSTRY PC Leader Ches Crosbie staged a news conference in St. John’s [April 23] in which he threatened legal action against the federal government and described Liberal Leader Dwight Ball as a “lapdog” to the prime minister.
