In 1986, Ian immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American dream. Settling in Dallas, he immersed himself in the diamond trade, eventually founding Spectrum Diamonds, an early blueprint for what would later become Sylvie Jewelry.

ylvie’s story begins thousands of miles away in Antwerp, Belgium, the heart of Europe’s diamond trade. A city where art, architecture, and oldworld charm shape everyday life.

Growing up among cobblestone streets, gilded cathedrals, and ateliers filled with craftsmen, she developed an early instinct for beauty and an appreciation for the finer details that others often overlook. Working in the Antwerp Diamond Exchange, she learned not just the technical foundations of the trade, but the romance of it.

Travel became her second source of inspiration. Her design sensibility

grew from these experiences, rooted in European elegance, defined by meticulous detail, and guided by the belief that jewelry should reflect the life of the woman who wears it.

Her journey was never just about entering the industry, it was about shaping it through a distinct feminine lens, bringing emotion, artistry, and a curator’s eye to every creation. And it was this unique perspective that would one day transform her love story into a brand beloved around the nation.

Encounter Some stories begin by chance of fate, almost without trying. Ian was in Tel Aviv, Israel for business, Sylvie was there with friends, exploring the world that had always inspired her. Two people from different continents, living different lives, crossing paths in a moment that felt both unexpected and strangely inevitable. Their connection was instant, easy, and familiar, like recognizing something you didn’t know you were missing.

When they returned to their lives after their initial meeting, distance didn’t dilute the feeling. Ian called for hours, and flowers were sent across oceans. Months passed, and the connection only grew stronger. Their lives had unfolded thousands of miles apart, yet somehow their stories felt aligned. His steady determination and her creative spirit, meeting in a way that neither could ignore.

After nearly two years of long-distance, Ian flew to Antwerp. Sylvie soon flew to Texas. What began as chance became certainty. In 1994, they married in Belgium before starting their new life, together at last, in the United States. The foundation was love, but it quickly grew into something more, a rare harmony of strengths.

They learned quickly that they worked as beautifully together as they lived together.

What started as a shared passion became a shared purpose. Within those early years, building a home, growing a family, and navigating a new country, Sylvie’s creativity evolved into a vision. A way of designing jewelry that honored women, celebrated emotion, and reflected the small, meaningful moments that shape a life.

Before they knew it, Sylvie’s helpful hand at Spectrum Diamonds, Ian’s founding company, began shaping more than daily operations. Her eye for design quickly drew attention from her feminine perspective and instinct for creating pieces women wanted to wear. It was apparent that what began as support naturally evolved into its own identity, laying the foundation for the brand that would soon bear her name.

The Birth of an Icon In 2008, the first Sylvie Shell was sketched into existence. A motif inspired by Botticelli's Birth of Venus, meant to signify light & femininity.

The Shell quickly became the brand’s signature. A fluid, graceful silhouette that depicts the journey a couple takes, finding one another.

With these new categories, Sylvie evolved into a true lifetime brand, one that honors the big moments, elevates the everyday ones, and keeps customers coming back long after “I do.”

Next is Now What began with Ian and Sylvie has grown into a true family business. Their two sons have joined the brand, bringing fresh perspective, creativity, and modern sensibility to a company rooted in heritage.

From that moment on, the Shell solidified itself as a design language that would continue to evolve with each new chapter of the brand.

The Expansion Era In 2024, Sylvie entered its most transformative chapter yet with the introduction of fine jewelry and men’s bands, expanding the brand beyond bridal and into a complete, multidimensional product universe.

This milestone marked Sylvie’s breakthrough into new markets, establishing the brand as one that offers something meaningful for every customer, at every stage of life. From engagements and weddings to anniversaries, gifting, and personal style.
