BIRTHPLACE OF DREAMS AND METAL (1924-1940) FROM A SMALL METALWORKING OUTFIT IN MONTMAGNY. In the serene streets of Montmagny, Québec, Montel emerged as a modest metalworking and electrical engineering endeavor. From these unassuming origins, a spark of ingenuity ignited, laying the cornerstone for a transformative journey that would redefine the future.
Shelvings, lockers, toilet partitions, Fire extinguishers, Hardware for furniture, caskets, stoves, steel bicycle kickstands, flip-flop toasters, etc.
MONTEL’S GLOBAL RESILIENCE ECHOES (1940-1965) ADAPTING DURING WORLD WAR II AND EXPANDING GLOBALLY IN THE 1950s. In the midst of wartime challenges, Montel not only adapted but also expanded its influence —faced with the demands of the era, Montel demonstrated remarkable resilience, navigating through adversities and evolving circumstances. The company played a crucial role in the war efforts by manufacturing components for a 25-pound shell and other war items such as storage boxes for helmets and lunch boxes made of steel for soldiers. Montel also contributed to the development of power stations for Hydro-Québec, St. Lawrence seaway, Gander airport, Aluminium Co. of Canada, panels boards for the residential and commercial markets, and even high and low voltage circuit breakers for 4 electrical substations in Ivory Coast (Africa).. These endeavors culminated in the groundbreaking achievement of creating the first generation of cantilever shelves for libraries in 1955, showcasing Montel’s commitment to innovation and adaptability throughout this pivotal period.
PIONEERING MOBILITY (1965-1980) IN THE EARLY 1960s, MONTEL EMBARKED ON A VISIONARY JOURNEY, INTRODUCING A GROUNDBREAKING CONCEPT: MOBILE STORAGE SYSTEMS. Introducing mobility not only set the company apart but also became a catalyst, propelling Montel to new heights in distinction within the industry. This transformative period reshaped the approach to storage solutions, laying the foundation for a future where innovation and distinction in space optimization became synonymous with Montel. Significantly contributing to crucial projects, commitment to excellence became the driving force in shaping the storage solutions landscape.
TRANSITION TO INTELLIGENT STORAGE SOLUTIONS AND BEYOND (1980-PRESENT) BECOMING A LEADER IN INTELLIGENT STORAGE SOLUTIONS AND VENTURING INTO VERTICAL FARMING. In 1986, Montel acquired New Jersey-based Art Metal Inc. company and took over the bookshelf product line known under the Aetnastak brand name. The metamorphosis from crafting metal bookcases to pioneering high-density storage systems defines Montel’s legacy.
