ABOUT OUR KEYNOTE, TONYA RIDER

Rider worked for the Toledo Police Department for more than 26 years, retiring in 2016. During her career, she investigated a variety of offenses, most notably hundreds of sexual assault offenses while assigned to the Special Victims Unit and a multitude of Homicides and Felonious Assault offenses while being assigned to the Crimes against Persons Unit.

After completing her career with the Toledo Police Department, Rider joined the faculty at Bowling Green State University in 2016 as a full-time instructor in the field of Criminal Justice. Rider created both undergraduate and graduate course curriculum for the Forensics Investigations specialization. While at BGSU, Rider also served as the Title 9 Investigator in the Division of Diversity and Belonging, tapping into her extensive investigative background.

Rider facilitated training on behalf of the Ohio Attorney General Office on Identifying Sex Offenders, Non-Stranger Sexual Assault, and Campus Response to Sexual Assault for 10 years, ending in 2019.

Since 2017, Rider has appeared in episodes of the Oxygen Channel’s Cold Justice team of investigators that reopen and investigate unsolved murder cases across the county. Rider earned her master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Currently Rider serves as a Civil Rights Compliance Investigator with

She’s built a business many of us have enjoyed, and beyond her business, she gives back—through partnerships, donations, and service. She currently sits on our Board of Directors, and her impact is felt throughout Sylvania.
