Welcome to Wuda Ogwa Wuda Ogwa is the cultural interpretive center for the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Tribe. It will be built near the Bear River Massacre site in Idaho, where over 300 people were senselessly killed on a cold January morning. This center will act as a memorial for the massacre, a gathering place for the tribe, and a place where they can share their story with visitors from all over the world. Flexibility is an important aspect of this interpretive center. This design will adapt to each of the seasons recognized by the Shoshone tribe and allow large groups of visitors to gather safely. This goal was achieved through technology, moveable walls, and a variety of interchangeable displays. The inspiration for this design came from constellations that the Shoshone people used to navigate as they traveled each season. The motif of stars and the moon can be seen throughout the space and branding. This project was completed using: Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign.

The ceiling will be painted black, with small LED lights mounted in the pattern of the milky way. Other LEDs will be placed to mimic constellations and can be turned on and off with a light switch. This will allow the constellations to easily change each season.

Scan Wall To make this center more accessible, this mural will be scannable by phone cameras and create a virtual reality in the palm of your hand. It will introduce important constellations, seasons, and describe the way Shoshone people lived before the massacre. This will allow all visitors to be immersed in the history and learn in their native tongues.

Logo & Branding This logo uses the symbols of the crescent moon, a hunting bow, and a dream catcher. It is reminiscent of the past culture of the northwestern band of Shoshone. As visitors enter, it gives a brief and symbolic introduction of what they can expect to learn about as they explore the center. When they leave, it serves as a reminder of where this people started from, and how far they have progressed.
