We’re preparing for an electric future Sydney City Toyota has just commissioned three electric fast charging stations for our dealerships at Waterloo and Glebe. It’s our first ’small step’ to join in what Toyota is describing as a once-in-a-century ‘giant leap’ in the way automobiles are made. Toyota has been the leader in petrol-electric technology, and it has delivered more than 16 million hybrids world-wide, as of two months ago 200,000 of them here in Australia. Now it’s moving to examine electric only vehicles. The new BZ4x electric concept SUV revealed only weeks ago is just one of seven BZ concepts now under evaluation for launch by 2025. BZ stands for Below Zero and it’s an expression of Toyota’s commitment to producing cars which are operationally carbon negative. The Toyota Mirai, with an electric motor fueled by hydrogen, is an example of forward thinking – reinforced by Toyota

The new Mirai has the latest technology in hybrid vehicles. Australia setting up its own hydrogen filling station and a Hydrogen Education Centre at its Centre of Excellence. Our guests in 2020 ordered 28 percent of their new Toyotas as hybrids. By May this year the ratio had grown to 38 percent – a huge leap.
