Welcome
Hello Brothers and Sisters!
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
As the lead pastor of Greater Sydney Conference, it brings me immense joy to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you to our annual church camp. It is truly a blessing to come together in fellowship, worship, and in the beautiful surroundings of nature at Adventist Alpine Village Jindabyne.
This camp is not just a getaway; it's an opportunity for us to deepen our relationship with God, to strengthen our bonds with one another, and to be refreshed and renewed in Spirit. Throughout our time here, we'll engage in various activities, heartfelt discussions, and uplifting worship and sermons, all aimed at drawing closer to God and to one another. It is simply about being in a place where our spiritual temperature will be raised.
I encourage you to approach this camp with open hearts and minds, ready to receive whatever blessings God has in store for us. Let us embrace this time with enthusiasm and gratitude, knowing that it is a precious gift from our Heavenly Father.
As we embark on this journey together, may we be filled with the love of Christ and may His presence be palpable among us. Let's support and uplift one another, and may our time together be a testament to the power of faith and community.
I am eager to see how God will move among us during this camp, and I pray that each of you will leave here with hearts overflowing with His love and grace.
With prayers and anticipation,
Alban Matohiti

Photography At Big Camp
Most people taking photos of children at Big Camp are doing so for acceptable reasons and using appropriate methods. However, it is worth noting that many photographs taken in public places will include subjects who have not consented to their photo being taken. In Australia,
#sydneyadventists Greater Sydney Conference Big Camp 22-27 April 2024
generally speaking, there is no law restricting photography of people (including children) in public spaces as long as the images are;
• Not considered indecent
• Not being used for voyeurism
• Not being used for commercial purposes without a Model Release/ Consent.
However, where an event is held on private property, such as Adventist Alpine Village, the owners of the private property are able to restrict or ban photography. Understanding this, the Greater Sydney Conference requests that you adhere to the following guidelines when it comes to photography at Big Camp: Authorised photographers under the Communications Team have been employed to take photographs at Big Camp.
They will be wearing a staff lanyard or hi-vis vest. If you do not wish your child to be photographed by the photographer for any reason, please contact the Camp Office and identify the children.
If you are taking photographs that include minors, please endeavour to restrict the images to those children that are related, or known, to you.
Due to child protection issues, photos of children at camp, other than those that are directly related to you, should not be posted onto the internet, social networking sites or any other form of electronic carriage service.
Property
Vandalism of any kind, including interfering with camp property, fences or notices, will result in prosecution and/or request to leave the grounds.
Pushbikes, Skate Boards, Roller Skates, Roller Blades, or Scooters
For the safety of all, we request that you do not use these on the grounds.
Security
Security guards will be on the grounds 24 hours per day. Even with security in place we cannot guarantee the safety of valuables left unattended in your tents, caravans, etc. Camp Administration cannot be held responsible for the loss of your valuables. It is required that campers will respect and comply with instructions from security personnel.
Showers
Remember that others are often waiting to use the showers, so please be efficient and considerate.
Laundry
There are three (3) laundry facilities located onsite. One is designated for the chalets, one for the dorms, and one for the tent sites. Coins are required to operate the self-service machines. To protect the eviroment and the propety of other guests, please refrain from using bleach products.
Speed Limit
Observe SPEED LIMIT of 10km/h at alltimes. Failure to do so will result in the individual being banned from driving on the grounds.
Toilet Block Cleaning
Please remember that the cleaners are working hard to keep the amenities blocks well-stocked and in great shape with large numbers of people on site. Affirmation is encouraged and appreciated.
If you have any concerns, please report these to the AAV Office on 02 6456 2738. Cleaning times can be reduced considerably if campers can remain outside the amenities, or use alternative amenities, while they are being cleaned.
Trees
For safety reasons, please refrain from hanging any ropes, swings, washing lines or hammocks in trees. Adventist Alpine Village invest time and energy in maintaining their grounds, so please respect the environment in which you are camping.

Faith Builders App PRESS RELEASE
NEW PARENTING APP TO LAUNCH AT BIG CAMP
Sydney, AUSTRALIA — The Greater Sydney Conference (GSC) proudly announces it will launch the Faith Builders parenting app during GSC Big Camp on April 25, 2024.
“Despite the best church and school programs and resources, we are still losing between 50% and 90% of the children from our churches,” says Pastor Daron Pratt, Director of Children’s Ministry and Family Ministries for GSC. “Something needs to change. This app was developed in response to recent research that indicates children are more likely to adopt the faith of their parents. What happens at home trumps everything else. This app seeks to help parents be the best they can possibly be when it comes to passing on faith to our children.”
The app is aimed at parents and grandparents of children aged 0-14. It includes coaching questions and practical steps based on seven elements that research shows are needed to help children grow in faith: intergenerational mentors, family memories, quality time, faithful and loving parents, awesome stories, great marriages, and family services.
“Every morning, the app posts a notification with a question that helps parents and guardians think, ponder and be more intentional in their spiritual parenting,” says Pastor Pratt. “For those parents who want to dig deeper, further research and ideas around each of the seven elements is provided as well. If this app helps parents be at their best spiritually, then it is a winner for everyone, especially the children.”
The app will be free to download, as it has been sponsored by GSC. It will be available on the App Store and Google Play. Search for “Faith Builders” to find it on or after April 25.

EASY TIPS for Supporting Our Adventist Youth
By Pr Anthony Fuller
I visited a young man in hospital this week who had very recently been stabbed in a gang altercation. He was brought up in our churches, but at the age of 17 he was very clear church was not for him. He had no spiritual purpose, no connection or relational understanding of who God is.
How is this possible? We know generally youth in society are under so much pressure, but research shows that Christian youth are facing greater challenges within our congregations. Below are some of the greatest challenges facing our youth today:
• Lack of employment opportunities
• Mental health
• Living in a secular culture
• Issues related to body image
• Family problems
• Substance abuse
• Pressures of materialism
• Personalizing and living out their faith
• Negative stereotyping
• Pressures of 24-hour social networking
• Crime
New Year, New Look FOR SYDNEY ADVENTIST YOUTH
Sydney Adventist Youth (SAY), Greater Sydney Conference’s youth ministry serving children to young adults from ages 4 through 18+, announced a fresh new logo as part of their recent rebrand.
What is your response as you view this list? How would you compare it to your observations of the youth within your local church?
CHALLENGE: Make it a priority to take some time and get to know your youth in your home church congregation to see what they think. Work with parents, families, and youth leaders; don’t just leave it for them to do—get involved.
Based on your findings, prayerfully work on finding practical and biblical solutions. Spend some time asking young people what they think are possible solutions.
Our youth must not only be taught God’s Word, but they must also be mentored in ways to apply the Word to their lives. They must be inspired to live more like Christ, remembering that Jesus is the model.
Big Camp 2024 Youth & Young Adult Tent speaker, Pr Anthony Fuller is currently serves as the Youth Director for the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (SEC).
“The concept behind the new logo represents how Sydney Adventist Youth is made up of people of different ages, who are doing life differently but are pulled together to the cross,” shares SAY leadership.
Graphic designer Jessica Symes designed the new logo. SAY debuted the design and launched new merchandise in early December 2023.
“We wanted to refresh our youth brand to better reflect what we do as a youth department,” shares Jacinda Ralph, Youth Departmental Assistant. “The logo serves as branding for our youth events, allowing youth to identify and promote the conference's events within their local churches.”
CHECK OUT THE NEW LOGO and get SAY-branded gear at www. sydneyadventistyouth.com/store-1.

Big Camp 2024 Offering
2025 EVANGELISM PROJECTS OFFERING
In pews throughout Sydney and the islands of Norfolk and Lord Howe, Adventists are passionate about making meaningful impact in communities and the digital world. We’re living digitally more than ever, but we can use technology and grassroots initiatives to connect to each other and our faith.
Because of this, Greater Sydney Conference is dedicated to funding 2025 evangelism projects, focusing on strategic community and digital engagement. With your support, we will finance three impactful projects to drive positive change and spread the Three Angels Message far and wide.
First, a FaithFM mobile studio to bring testimonies and stories of God's work from where they're happening on the ground to listeners thirsty for hope across all of Australia.
Second, an ELIA Wellness Trailer to support and encourage stressed urbanites to find peace. Through wellness in action we can transform and save lives.
Third, the 2025 outreach campaign where Sydney Adventists return to our evangelistic roots, bringing TED-style talks back to the streets for the souls seeking salvation.
Your thoughtful gifts and donations via offering and eGiving will help bring these projects to life. Join us in our mission to make a difference and be part of a movement that will leave a lasting impact for Christ.
