Using realism within art and design, the concept of change and progression is displayed in the interior of this dormitory lobby. The main focus of this group project was to create an art installation that is incorporated throughout the building.

CONCEPT I created a postdigital rendered perspective section to show the conceptual art installation in a more visual way. You can strongly see the development of the objects forms. The installation gives students entering the dorm something to enjoy and interpret. No matter where one is standing in this environment, the concept is seen.

The section and post-digital renderings my group and I created show a better look at the concept we decided on. The form of geometric boxes progressing into organic spheres displays the motive of change. The renders offer a more in-depth view of the goal of the design, for the client to better understand.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Administration Center

The idea of this project was to use evidence based design to create a variety of areas within an elementary school. The goal of the administration office was to communicate safety, functionality, and aesthetics while ensuring ADA compliance. The location of each room has a purpose to keep functional flow in hallways by the convenience of the placement.

Administration Center

The concept I decided on for the entire elementary school was the idea of development. Development for elementary students is a key aspect of their learning. Intentionally incorporating this concept within the design of the entire building through shapes, colors, space planning, finishes, and more can promote the success of the students. These sections show a deeper look into certain room details displayed in the plans.

LIBRARY A library is a place that can hold and occupy a large amount of people at once. The open concept allows every area to be seen by the location of the reception to help with safety. There are optimal locations for both social and individual work, creating a successful space. Within the library I customized the bookshelves, reading nooks, and reception desk to respond to the concept of development. The rendered perspective on the right shows the customized reading nooks for the students to utilize to work individually. The variety of colors inside optimizes an energetic and fresh feel to the library.

Kindergarten Classroom

The goal of the kindergarten classroom is for the students to benefit from the use of colors and shapes. With the base being a rectangular room, I incorporated walls to create spaces within a space, and a variety of learning opportunities.

Kindergarten Classroom

In this project I was to design a customized cubby storage for the students in the classroom. I incorporated the idea of colored pencils in the design process. Using evidence based design I appropriately placed drawers and cupboards within.

Here are Rendered Perspectives showing the customized colored pencil cubbies above and two break-out areas within the classroom on the right.

RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT

Within this residential and ADA compliant design, the idea of a strong concept was a main focus. The goal was to choose something significant from our past to use as a key concept idea. That for me was my grandparents plum tree. From there I sketched aspects of that tree to come up with the final concept of asymmetry, fluidity and texture.

We designed this apartment for a couple with a strong need for ADA compliance throughout the space. The client Jim Besse is in a wheelchair and both he and his wife need to be able to function comfortably in their home mutually. The idea of lower countertops, toe kicks, flush flooring, and more were explored when designing this space, while also being all hand drawn.

With the exploration of adjacencies and the overall needs of the clients, the final floor plan came to life. Everything the clients had wished for and more was accommodated in a way for both Jim and Anne Besse to use comfortably.

WORKPLACE DESIGN

Magni Magni is an athletic company based on Nike. Working with Gensler and Nike designers, my team and I created Magni and their workplace in Munich Germany focusing on FF&E and DE&I. This energetic and dynamic workplace design encourages movement, collaboration, and connection through design and materiality. Inclusive design and adaptable furniture allow employees to have all of the tools needed in order to win as a team. Magni always encourages and listens to the voice of the athlete.

Concept The concept of this design is The Red Line. Intertwined by streets and people, The Red Line bus in Munich serves as a way for individuals to embark on a journey together while experiencing connection and discovery. We envision these ideas of connection and discovery to be portrayed in athletes and the company itself.

ATYPICAL BATHROOM DESIGN

Project In my summer internship with Savana Studios, I was given the project to design an attic redesign. This included the addition of a bathroom. With this being in an attic, there was a sloped ceiling on either side. This led to an abundance of research into the code of bathrooms with sloped ceilings. While making the bathroom code-compliant, functional, and aesthetic, the client was able to get everything they wanted for this space. This project pushed my space planning skills in many ways and showed me the importance of codes within environments.

Scheme 3

Schemes After researching the code, the next step was to start space planning the bathroom in various ways to show the client. Following this I created the general floor plan on AutoCAD to have as a guide. I created these three schemes in SketchUp to begin the schematic design. The client leaned towards the first scheme but wanted a few changes to more fit their wants and needs.

Floor Plan Here is the final floor plan I created. From the previous schemes I minimized the shower and sink space, which allowed for more storage. There was a lot of trial and error in this project with such tedious codes. Yet when the design was finalized, the feeling of gratification was very superior. This project is still in progress for the final finishes and features to begin the addition.
