Hello, I’m Syahrul. a 22 years old Product Designer equipped with abilities of design research, product design, and rapid prototyping.

Designers have the responsibility to make people’s lives better. I believe that a good design not just functional and aesthetic, but it brings emotional attachment and experiences for the users. So I think a great designer must have deep empathy and plenty of research to create well-designed products.

Background Mamacai Deli is a family restaurant which located at Jalan Untung Suropati, Darmo District, Surabaya. The concept of Mamacai Deli is buffet restaurant serving Indonesian traditional foods with different choices of menu everyday.

With my research and knowledge about common restaurant workflow, I try to emphatize the user to define the best workflow that can be adopted within the constraints space of the restaurant.

What’s the problem?

At some buffet restaurants, I still encounter some problems of their food display table with messy arrangement, hard to clean, and lack of storage. In this design process, these problems become my focus to be resolved.

Layout Mapping After discovering and measuring the location, the space dimension layout is obtained as shown below. The layout was made depends on relatable objects and their dimensions.

Mood Board The selection of the mood board was inspired from the style of the chosen location. I try to preserve the harmony between the product and its surroundings.

The glass storage part of this display table can be removable to suit the daily needs of the kitchen and also easy to clean the table.

This table is also equipped with a base of tray so that food can be arranged more neatly.

Project Background

Batu is a small city in East Java whose main income comes from the tourism sector. The city has more than 30 tourism objects with an increasing number of visitors every year. Therefore this city has the potential development of alternative transportation such as bicycles in line with increasingly congested traffic and support from the city government in tourist facilities.

Problems

Batu City streets, especially on holidays still experience traffic jams at certain points.

The limited number of public transportation and ineffective management.

Design Features The use of an electric motor aims to provide power efficiency when going uphill and maximize mileage.

The bike’s charging system is wireless (witricity). The Witricity concept is a technology to transfer electric power without wires, the concept can be applied to bicycles according to some existing sharing bike.

El Pequena River Cleaning Boat College Design Projects 2019

Background

Surabaya is a city that has dozen of river across. Like others big city, river has a crucial aspect for the life of this city to manage rainflows and water distribution. All of rivers in Surabaya are under DKRTH responsibility.

Problems

There is still a lot of garbage in the river which is always increasing every day

River cleaning boat facilities are still inadequate

The number of bridges is one of the obstacles for river cleaning

Inflatable boats are unloaded from pick-up cars, pumped and then fitted with boat machine.

The collected garbage is placed on the ship's cabin.

Cleaning activity carried out by 1-2 people using a wooden stick to pick up the trash.

The collected garbage moved to the ground to be disposed of in the next process.

The canopy is foldable. It’s depend on the driver’s need.

The twist lock is rotated when separating the deck with the hull.

Parts Assembling

The frame and deck is connected by ďŹ xed screw and a ďŹ ber layer.

Twist lock and hull are connected by screws.

So it can be replaced if there is a damage in the twist lock.

The hydraulic system can be easily removed from the scoop for maintenance service.

The outboard motor can be removed from the deck for engine maintenance or service.

Project Brief My client is planning to build a startup that produces a modern cart selling. Their products intended to be multifunctional interchange according to the seller's goals, so it can be adjusted to sell things such as coee, bread toast, chicken noodles, etc.

Modular Top Table I designed the top table part using a modular concept. So it can be conďŹ gured in many ways depending on the seller's needs.

For the drawer, I designed it by dividing it into 3 parts with 3 sliding doors

I also applied the modular concept to the inside of the drawer so the inside space can be adjusted as needed.

SeraITS Tricyle for Post-Stroke Patients Research Design Projects 2019

Brief After experiencing a stroke, it is important for patients to continue to learn to move. In order to help the mobility of post-stroke patients, I collaborated with students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya to design a tricycle called SeraITS. This tricycle is intended for adults as a form of training for post-stroke patients.
