We scour the country daily for the next great herd bull or great set of cows. We put together a bull battery that will catapult any cattle enthusiast to the next level. We believe in them, and we prove it by how we use them in our own program.

We bought a herd of cows from our good neighbor Brent Sadler, and a lot of the Angus bulls selling are rich in Coleman genetics They are a heck of a set of Angus bulls! We couldn’t be more excited for you to come view them. We believe in solid Angus cattle, and this is set is as good as you will find.

The Simmis and Maines are just as impressive as always. They are backed by generations of solid cow families top and bottom. They are the cattle that have moved our program forward day in and day out. Longevity and productivity and all that entails… from easy doing, good footed, solid made females that last. Ranching is our life. We know what makes your bottom line, because it’s the same thing that makes ours. These bulls will take your program forward.

We always appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to visiting with you at the sale. Our good friends and customers RA Bentley and Ronnie Robinson and families are bringing some awesome sets of commercial females to the Grass to Grid. Griswold cattle retains 1/2 interest. BW

What a way to start the 2025 Grass to Grid catalog! It is no secret that raising purebred Angus cattle has not been our focus. We typically utilize them for a solid cow base and breed up from there, until this past year! Most everyone knows that last spring we had the opportunity to buy the Sadler Ranch cow herd, everything from top end donors all the way to ET babies still on the recips. To say the least, we jumped at the chance and haven’t looked back. This is the first offering of cattle from that purchase, and we could not be happier with the direction our Angus program is headed.

This lead Angus bull is a special individual. He has been a favorite of many visitors to the ranch and one that catches your eye from across the pen. A son of Argentine out of the legendary Donna 5247, who topped the 2022 Coleman Angus Production sale at $200K for one-half interest to Kelly Farms of Michigan. 5247 has been a dominant force in production, with her progeny averaging close to $27K and an all-time generating value of $1 million, including two full brothers in blood by Coleman Patron and Coleman Mendoza. Other notable brothers are Coleman Big Country and Coleman Game Changer. The cow power and predictability behind this Lot 101 bull are truly unmatched, going back to the legendary Donna 386.

We think Secrets Out has a big time future in production! His mass and body shape are incredible, and he has an exceptionally powerful hip design while still maintaining tremendous look and balance. His progeny will be unreal!

When we purchased the Sadler herd last spring, we knew we were getting a lot of good cattle— cattle that would produce and make a difference. But we had no idea the type of female we were getting when we acquired Coleman Donna 9309. She is one of those females that will make you stop and stare She is so powerfully constructed and square made with an overwhelming amount of center body while still being sound and functional, and with an incredible udder! With that, she has an awesome set of numbers on paper that allows for a solid base to breed from. She is a full sister to the popular calving ease sire Coleman Night Watch, who is known for siring small, vigorous calves at birth.

It does not matter what bull you throw at 9309, the results are all good. Whether she is producing high end replacement females or high caliber bulls, she can get it done! She is young and just getting started, and I can bet this is not the last time you hear about her. She is the mother to our pen of three bulls from Denver this year that will highlight this sale along with 13 other sons. 9309 is here to stay!

Griswold Cattle and Sadler Ranch

captured the fall champion pen of three bulls at the 2025 National Western Stock Show’s Angus Pen and Carload Show in January in Denver. The September 2023 sons of Hummel South America, Blair’s External Law and Hummel Argentine posted an average weight of 1,588 pounds and an average scrotal circumference of 39.2 centimeters. These bulls sell as Lots 102, 103 and 104. All are sons of Coleman Donna 9309.

This Argentine son was the anchor to our pen in Denver, and he is impressive! I absolutely love the look and presence he offers combined with his overall mass and density. He is so good up front with a nice shape to his head, a long front, smooth shoulders and an incredible lower sweep and turn to his rib cage. A long bodied, big hipped bull that has plenty of muscle and power with a big foot. This bull has the quality to be a big time producer, and to top it off, he is safe to use on heifers and scanned with one of the highest IMF scans. Not to mention that a full brother was one of the high selling bulls at Duff’s sale last month. GCC Lotito is a bull to tie into!

The powerhouse of our Denver pen of three was Litigate! This son of External Law brings it all in terms of power, muscle and dimension. Study this bull and analyze the amount of power and width he has down his top with tremendous turn to his rib shape and a big, square hip shape that stays true and square to the ground. Step back and analyze this guy from the side, and he is incredible in the center portion of his body with so much internal dimension and depth while still maintaining a neat look up front and having an incredibly nice, balanced look. Backed by so much maternal power combined with his center body mass and structure, there is no way his daughters would be anything but ground sows! It is rare to find a heifer safe bull that is this dang good! Honestly, heifer bull or not, this thing is flat out good, no matter what you use him for. This guy is so sleek made and smooth in his design with a long, good neck and really neatly made shoulder design, yet he is still so bold and good in his center body with plenty of muscle and shape.

The South America cattle are really good, and this bull is proof to what he is producing, as they are some of the best cattle at Colemans’. Study this guy from the ground up. You will be hard pressed to find another one as good built as he is.

Here’s something a little different to lead off the fall Simmental bulls. We tried flushing a few of our best donors to Reckoning a couple of falls ago, and boy—did it work! In fact, it worked so well that we have since used him quite a bit to give us a little bit of an outcross. This bull goes back to the very first show heifer that Maggie showed, named Jimmy. Jimmy was quite successful for a first year showman and has done nothing but produce good ones since then, and rightfully so, being a direct daughter of the great Boots.

We thought so much of this bull that we kept him up and halter broke him at the show barn all summer and winter, and he has done it all. I love his length and extension, the way he carries his head and neck and just the overall presence he shows. With that presence, he does not give up any power or substance and has an incredible turn to his upper rib and a massive hip. I love this bull on the move and the way he can travel. The bottom side reads just as good, as there is no better combination than Insight on a First Class, not to mention his First Class granddam was Reserve at both Louisville and Denver. Here’s another older bull that can handle quite a few cows, Empty Glass is chalk full of raw power and dimension with so much muscle and a giant hip. He is sure to add pounds to any herd. His sire, Raise A Glass, was a sale feature a few years back that was a powerful Garth son out of Whiskey Bae, who was a high seller in the Classic in her own right. A full sister to Raise A Glass was the high selling open at $85K in the 2020 Classic to the Collum family, who led her to Reserve MaineTainer at the first ever Cattlemen’s Congress, just weeks after the sale.
