Brownsville to Host Christmas Shop & Stroll Downtown December 18
Downtown Brownsville continues to spread holiday cheer during a special Christmas event on Thursday, December 18, from 5-7 pm. The celebration, “Brownsville Christmas Shop & Stroll,” invites families and shoppers to enjoy extended store hours, festive activities and a lively holiday atmosphere. The event features an opportunity for children to share their wish lists and talk with Santa, a Grinch roaming around downtown, holiday photo opportunities at the community Christmas tree and fun window displays, live music featuring local talents and special promotions from participating businesses. A “Holiday Passport” encourages visitors to shop at multiple locations for a chance to win a gift basket filled with local treats and gifts. “This event is a fun way to bring people downtown and support our small businesses during the final weeks of the holiday season,” said Tom Orr, director of Main Street Brownsville. “Even with short notice, we’re excited to offer a festive night out for the community.” The event is free and open to the public. Approximately 1,500 wreaths laid at Shiloh National Military Park
Wreaths Across America 2025 successfully honored fallen heroes on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with wreath-laying ceremonies at thousands of locations nationwide, including Shiloh National Military Park. Dozens of volunteers turned out to help lay the wreaths. The event served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by military members, those who gave their time, energy, and, in many cases, their lives so that future generations may live in freedom. The first year of wreath-laying for Wreaths Across America was 2007, and since then it has grown to encompass all 50 states and a number of U.S. territories. Holiday of Hope
a huge success
The inaugural Holiday of Hope held at the McNairy County AG Event Center last weekend was a tremendous success. A joint effort of the McNairy County Carl Perkins Center and the McNairy County AG Event Center, the Holiday of Hope attracted more than 1,500 people. The event was a great experience for families looking for Christmas themed fun. The event included dozens of vendors, a Festival of Trees, music, and skating. Congratulations to all involved in planning the Holiday of Hope.

Savannah’s Christmas on Main attracts thousands Savannah, Tennessee’s Christmas on Main events attracted thousands of residents and visitors throughout the month of December. The picturesque holiday setting provided attenders with a true Hallmark experience. The event included carriage rides, a merry-go round, train rides, skating and plenty of family friendly activities. Christmas on Main has become one Southwest Tennessee’s signature Christmas events.

The countdown to Blue Suede Rockabilly Weekend is on! Celebrate 70 Years of “Blue Suede Shoes” in Jackson, Tennessee: the Birthplace of Rockabilly! Step into the sound that changed music forever. The event will take place April 24–26, 2026 in Jackson, TN, hometown of the legendary Carl Perkins. The event will be a three-day celebration of music, heritage, and rockabilly style. Live bands, classic cars, vintage vendors, pin-up, and themed eats and drinks will fill the city of Jackson as fans from across the country gather to honor the 70th anniversary of “Blue Suede Shoes.”

This December, McNairy County is getting ugly! Beginning the first Friday in December, I Love McNairy County challenges residents, schools, businesses, organizations and officials to take part in Ugly Sweater Fridays. The challenge will be on Friday, December 5th, 12th, and 19th. ILoveMC is challenging to wear their ugliest Christmas sweater and post them on Facebook, tagging I Love McNairy County and using the hashtags #ILoveMC, #MerryMcNairy and #MCUglySweaterFridays. This holiday challenge will help everyone get and stay in the Christmas Spirit, as well as enjoy more casual Fridays by wearing their ugly Christmas Sweater. Schools can challenge schools, towns can challenge towns, and elected officials can challenge other elected officials. Get involved by wearing your most outrageous, colorful, jingly, joyful ugly Christmas sweater each Friday and spread holiday cheer.
